My brain still can't comprehend how crazy it is, that after spending so long with fanfiction being my only way of experiencing such a complex series of emotions and reactions as I did while watching ofmd, that I finally got to feel them with an actual show. A show that didn't twist the narrative to give us scraps because they knew we were desperate. A show to filled with emotions that weren't kept vague and instead expresses in such a clear way. Something that was always meant to be for us. Not adapted to fit us in the demographic. But FOR us.

the thing that has always bothered me is that i love gay romance and gay stories and gay media as much as the next. tumblr user but i feel like 90% of is like. grown in a lab in a way that makes me hate it

what do i do if i dont want to see endless identical anime people or hunk movie actors or bland models looking at each other slightly or paparazzi photos of famous couple hashtag me hashtag relatable hashtag yearning or 9000 billionth gay comic where everybody blushes and squeals like an 11 year old despite being grown adults or some shitty novel thats search-replaced band rpf and it somehow sells a million copy and everybody says its a masterpiece bc it happens to be about two men or two women even though its the same boring ass bland ass shit weve all seen a million times and theres no genuine connection nothing real nothing that a human being would do or say no men or women that would exist in real life. no old fat gay men no butches with wrinkles like what if i want to see something thats like what i know. what if i want to see something thats not been cooked up in a vat by a scientist to be as appealing as possible. what if i just want a gay version of the apartment 1960. somebody make a gay comic where the characters look like zero mostel and gene wilder in the producers for ONCE im getting really specific at the end of this post in order to make it unrelatable and unrebloggable and you know what this is getting back to my thesis. gay characters who are unrebloggable unretweetable unrelatable unhashtaggable unpublishable and raw and organic and free range and NASTY my message of the day

I hate when you love a character who’s like a kid or a teenager and they so perfectly capture the flaws and struggles of being that age and not understanding everything fully yet or necessarily making the best choices especially when they’re in a very painful or complex situation and they feel so real and human because of it and then you go online and there’s someone who’s like “they’re DUMB and EVIL and SELFISH because of [important moment in their character arc when they messed up and learned from it or broke under pressure or didn’t have the courage to do an incredibly difficult thing or responded realistically to their truly horrifying circumstances]”
