a) Finished the conclave book!! And I won’t harp too long on my opinions (yet) in case people want to read it. But honestly??? The movie does a much better job with 90% of the themes the book attempted. There were def some necessary changes the movie made in how the book handled sex and gender, Islamophobia, racism and sexism in the church… and Vincent’s book speech? VERY weak in comparison to the movie. But what I WILL give the book is that the movie did NOT do Sister Shanumi justice. I really liked getting to see more of her character, her struggles and power and sense of purpose. Like she’s a women’s health nurse!!! Why didn’t we know that! Especially with her backstory, it fleshes her out so much!! She puts nothing but good into the world and still spends decades carrying and paying for a sin that wasn’t hers….. much to think about… I do, however, love her introductory shot in the movie. very much reminds me of a saint portrait. gorjus <3
b) so long as I’m around Vincent Benítez will NEVER beat the disney princess allegations. also I think he would help out in the kitchens when he’s in Rome and not doing service work. What he is NOT doing is his papal paperwork.
c) been soooo enjoying drawing those old men dancing. and casual clothes Benítez. genuinely so cooked.
