Easter Family Event - Southern Grove 9th April 2014
Great event last Wednesday with a Health Talk provided by Bart Health NHS Trust. Our mums were very interested to hear about breast cancer prevention.
This was followed by our Easter activities with incredible face painting art done by our peer educator Mariam, and a Yumi biscuit decoration activity run by Khalida.
More event to come with a giant Easter Eggs hunt in Shandy park on Thursday 17th April afternoon!
Easter Family Event
Thank you to ASDA Isle of Dogs! Connecting Mums started Easter Holiday with a bang!
With the British Red Cross and Barts Health NHS trust...and loads of fun activities!
Easter activities have started today!
Our first event organised today with the support of Asda Crossarbour - Community Life champion has been a real success.
Margaret from the British Red Cross gave to our Mums very useful indications on what to do in case of Asthma attack, burns, open injuries and when babies are chocking!
Nelly the Locality Cancer Screening Services Manager from Barts Health NHS Trust, raised awareness among the audience on the importance of doing a regular smear to prevent cervical cancer and to see the GP in case any abnormal pain or swelling of the breast.
And Children's participants had a great time with the different activities: making your own Play do, face painting, mask painting.
Photos will come up tomorrow as well as the dates of our next events!
Follow us on Tumblr and check your next issue of East end Life for the next dates.
We hope to see you all very soon!

The Connecting Mums Project aims to improve the social inclusion of female 3rd country nationals who are new mothers. The project uses motherhood as a shared experience by women of all faiths, cultural and social-economical backgrounds to bring women from the migrant and host communities together.
The project aims to improve confidence amongst young migrant mothers and gives them the necessary knowledge, skills and experiences to better support the physical, mental and emotional development of their children leading to more integrated communities.
hrough supported family learning migrant women will be introduced to the values within the multi-faith and multicultural Britain. The project will directly increase access to local services inc. NHS, Sure Starts programmes and other activities for young families.
