The struggle is real somedays
i just wanted to let you all know that i am normal
Throwback Thursday.
I’ve been accused of using drugs to get results, I’ve been told I wasn’t big enough, I’ve been told I was too big, I’ve been told it was easier for me because I was never obese, I’ve been told I need to eat more because I was too skinny, I’ve been told I was too old to get results, I’ve been told my body would go to shit once I got older, I e been told I’m not as in shape as I once was. I’ve been told many things at many different times from many different people. Their opinions of me only carry validity if I allow them to.
Ultimately the only thing that truly matters is what I tell myself and what I choose to believe. There are many critics out there wanting you to believe they know what’s best for you. It’s all just noise don’t let it distract you from being the best version of yourself you want to be!
William Shatner has an album of spoken-word songs with a song called "Has-been," and I always liked one line that was when someone calls him a "has-been" - "it's usually coming from a never-was."
DAY 01 ➡️ DAY 31
May Challenge Personal Wrap Up:
While there is not as much of a visible difference as I had hoped the numbers speak much better to my improvement over the month.
✅Goal: Do Push-ups and Crunches for 15 minutes everyday in May
Lowest beginning total push-ups: 100
Highest ending total push-ups: 201
Lowest beginning total crunches: 100
Highest ending total crunches: 225
May 1, best consecutive push-up set: 30
May 30, best consecutive push-up set: 63
Total Push-ups done in May = 4,454
Total Crunches done in May = 4,235
As a side note I accomplished all of this taking only 15 minutes of time each day in May. I hope this helps illustrate how small amounts of time taken consistently can add up to sizable improvements.
Proud to say that I reported in everyday, did the work everyday and I’m just going to go ahead and call May officially crushed. How appropriate that it ends on a Friday. Because I’m flexing hard on this past month and showed it what’s up!
Now it’s time to keep the momentum going and roll into June. I won’t be running an official challenge or tagging people daily like I did in May but I still welcome any and all updates and check-ins. I’m going to change up my routine some and keep working away one step at a time.
Hope to see everyone out there in the Tumblr-verse keeping that positive energy flowing!

one last group tag to finish off May! Thanks for the added accountability and inspo friends! 🤜🤛

I'm pushing through June too, I want to see how high I can take my numbers. Still not digging my photos, yet. Maybe by the end of June

DAY 30/30
Here we are, the final day of the “MAYbe I can Challenge” First I would like to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who participated. I greatly enjoyed reading and seeing all of your updates and checkins throughout the month. You all truly inspired me and helped keep me accountable throughout May.
The quote above felt like a fitting closing metaphor for this month and I have always loved a powerful metaphor. The whole idea behind this challenge was to spread a little sunshine in May to help you bloom and open the door to new and healthy positive possibilities. And just like any day the sun maybe didn’t always shine for everyone. Perhaps there were clouds, or some rain and even some storms that greyed out some days But ultimately what I saw was that the clouds cleared, the sun came out again and everyone used the rains to grow a little stronger and carry on.
If this challenge worked for you you should now feel as though you have established some form of positive physical and or mental consistency that will hopeful stick around going into June and beyond. Perhaps you’ve realized the endless possibilities that lie in front of you from a sunny mindset and it has you feeling recharged and beginning to bloom.
At the very least you’ve answered the question of MAYbe I can? with LOOK what I did!!
You may have noticed that there are actually 31 days in May. So why did this end on day 30?? Well, Day 31 is yours to do with as you please….just like all the other days this month. A reminder that ultimately it was you who made the decisions and took action to bring more physical and mental wellbeing into your days. Yes, no doubt the group and accountability helped some of you more than others. But now it’s time for you to take that momentum and keep it going.
SO, if you enjoyed this past month I’d love to hear about it, if you struggled I’d love to hear about that too because it’s part of the process. What did you love and or dislike about this challenge? Has it helped create healthy habits, did it change your mindset, are you noticing positive change? I certainly hope so! I know for me personally it’s been a wonderful experience and kept me growing and blooming through the sunshine and the rain!
To wrap up I encourage everyone to give it their all on this final day! Push a little harder, shine a little brighter think a little more positive and then do it all again tomorrow knowing that you totally CAN!

I definitely did NOT hit everyday, but I did do about 10 more than I would have, if I weren't working on this challenge. My pushups are almost as high as they've ever been, and my crunches are much further along than they've been in years!

DAY 07/30
@thoughts-sex-desires @definitely-grown @perspective24 @joshuamusclefan @52fit @runningfromthecuccos @athousandmorningss @marine-corps-strong @healthymist @integrationslady @lucky-jewels @tenacioustam @the-curvy-crossfitter @poh-fitblr @thepersonalhermit @wildgypsywind2 @echolaunch @robertbecomes @kittyfromthenorth123 @50snfit
I knew those numbers couldn’t keep going up forever. Didn’t feel like I had quite the energy this morning as the past six days. I’m ok with it though, still got 129 push-ups and 125 crunches. Nothing to be ashamed of and a good use of 15 minutes to start my day. 💪😎
I've been quietly attempting this on weekdays, doing my own pushups/pullups/crunches for time, and also for max on first set.
May 1 looked like this:
Pushups - First set: 30 - Total: 55 Pullups - First set: 7 - Total: 20 Crunches - First set: 30 - Total: 50 Time 12m1sec
May 7 (today) looked like this:
Pushups - First set: 35 - Total: 61 Pullups - First set: 12 - Total: 27 Crunches - First set: 45 - Total: 90 Time 16m8s
My time keeps getting worse because I keep adding more, but I'm not too worried about it :) I plan to stop once I reach 100 total pushups.

I guess the cold weather, time change, and general exhaustion got to me because I just did not have the mindset to work out at all last week. The upside is I guess I actually recovered - honestly I've never seen my "Training Readiness" at 1 out of 100, I didn't even know that was possible.
Anyway I'm back with a 10k.
I picked a good day to start up again, I had to get work done on my car, I usually just drop it off and walk back because it's only 2.5km away. But also they finished today so I walked back. Plus dog walking, equals a lot of steps.
Day 7/30
Let me be the first to say congratulation on making it though week 1. It may not have been the perfect week and maybe not all goals were accomplished everyday but you’re actively trying. And that puts you well ahead of where you’d be if you had done nothing at all. It’s time to step it up, keep the determination going and aim to start week 2 with your best effort yet…no excuses!! 🤜🤛

Totally blew off yesterday, after the long run and yet another night of terrible sleep, I just had nothing left in the tank on Monday. My running watch agrees.
Today I managed to get back on that horse, at least with the running. I pushed myself out the door and cranked out a halfway decent 5k. But I feel back on track!
Day 5/30
Just look at you go, those excuses don’t stand a chance!!
@mcsnappyy @doingthehardthings @rebuild-phlegyas @50snfit @foreverunfound @healthyt0nedfit @connectmindwithmuscle @fitscientist @marine-corps-strong @tecihitro @burritobowlz-n-bullshit @dogsaremyworld @healthymist @connectmindwithmuscle @buff-nerd @thisismetryingx @justafitchick @packbetawolf @jenfightsback @thoughts-sex-desires
Long run. Turned out better than I expected. Wasn't sure I'd do a half-marathon distance, was mostly hoping to do a 10-miler without my back giving me issues.
DAY 4/30
Well done, let’s keep the momentum going!!
@mcsnappyy @athousandmorningss @rebuild-phlegyas @50snfit @foreverunfound @healthyt0nedfit @connectmindwithmuscle @fitscientist @marine-corps-strong @tecihitro @burritobowlz-n-bullshit @dogsaremyworld @healthymist @connectmindwithmuscle @buff-nerd @thisismetryingx @justafitchick @packbetawolf @jenfightsback @thoughts-sex-desires
Got my run in.
21/200km
(also found a vole outside)
Day 3/30
Bring on the three-peat!
@mcsnappyy @doingthehardthings @rebuild-phlegyas @50snfit @foreverunfound @healthyt0nedfit @connectmindwithmuscle @fitscientist @marine-corps-strong @tecihitro @burritobowlz-n-bullshit @dogsaremyworld @healthymist @connectmindwithmuscle @buff-nerd @thisismetryingx @justafitchick @packbetawolf @jenfightsback
I don't always have a lot of time for a workout on Friday, so I didn't get the full workout, but I did get in some pushup, pullups, and I did three separate moves with my 20lb sledgehammer (no regrets picking that up)
Tomorrow I have off, but I *might* do a 5k, and then Sunday: Long Run!
Day 2/30
One day down, time to own the second! 🤜🤛
@mcsnappyy @doingthehardthings @rebuild-phlegyas @50snfit @foreverunfound @healthyt0nedfit @connectmindwithmuscle @fitscientist @marine-corps-strong @tecihitro @burritobowlz-n-bullshit @dogsaremyworld @healthymist @connectmindwithmuscle @buff-nerd @thisismetryingx @justafitchick
Day 2 done!
I was late to start my workout, and it's still dragging because my back is still recovering from an injury last week. However I have some new alarms set so I get to things earlier tomorrow.
Run completed as well, this brings me to 15k total for the month.
DAY 1/30
It’s time to turn “One Day” into “Day One” let’s GO!
@mcsnappyy @athousandmorningss @rebuild-phlegyas @50snfit @foreverunfound @healthyt0nedfit @connectmindwithmuscle @fitscientist @marine-corps-strong @tecihitro @burritobowlz-n-bullshit @dogsaremyworld @healthymist
Damn, today was a real test of "no excuses." My dog was sick yesterday, and because of this I was awake half the night taking care of him. He was fine actually, but he doesn't actively let you know when he needs something. He just sits at the end of the bed and stares quietly at me until I wake up. He's lucky I'm a light sleeper. Anyway I took him outside a few times in the middle of the night even though he didn't actually need it, but I didn'twant to be the guy who just ignores their dog when it needs something. So I got 3 hours of sleep, according to Garmin, with a "sleep score" of 44 (out of 100).
ANYWAY: I did the thing! Got my workout started by 10:30am, I even took some "before" pictures and measurements. I also got a 6k run in. I was hoping for more, but it was cold, and my back is still recovering.
November 2023 #noexcusenovember Challenge
So I signed up for @m0tiv8me 's #noexcusenovember challenge. I've been thinking about this for a week and I'm going to break mine into primary and secondary challenges.
Primary: -Workout/lift 5 days a week (Mon-Fri) starting no later than 10:30am -Run 200km this month.
Secondary: -Run 6 days a week - this ties into the 200km challenge, because that breaks down to 6.6km if I were to run for 30 days straight, so I have to stay on top of this or I won't complete it.
-increase my Pushups/Pullups. My warmup for each workout is a pushup/pullup challenge. My goal is 100 pushups/50 pullups, for time, plus how many I can do in the first set.
Currently I'm at roughly 60 pushups/30 pullups, and I can do 35 pushups on the first set, and 10 pullups, overall it takes me about 10 minutes. Previously I tried the 100 pushup challenge in 2021, on Day 1 I could do 30 pushups and overall it took me 10 minutes. By Day 39 I got to 48 pushups on the first set, and I could complete 100 in 5 minutes 53 seconds. So hopefully I can get close to that, or beat it.
Our guy is 8 years old today :)
