When the door opened with a single push, it prompted Sun Ce to look up from the scroll covered table and at the war council room’s new inhabitant. People had spent the half of the day sending him scroll after scroll in regards to how the flow of battle was supposed to go. Sun Ce figured that Zhou Yu would fare better reading this–Sun Ce half-expected all this careful planning to go south. Still, all of this was helpful to know…even if it was time consuming and boring reading it all. Sun Ce would’ve chosen to actually go out there and make those formations happen.

“You give me another scroll, you’re gonna have to pay a fee.” Sun Ce said when he noted just who had a bundle of scrolls in their arms. Zhou Yu must have been tired if he was sending Ling Sheng in his stead. That was one way to get him to pay attention to things.

Ling Sheng approached the table and dropped down three more scrolls and she let out a chuckle. Her amusement was infectious because Sun Ce couldn’t keep from grinning.

“I’m afraid I can’t buy you dinner this time, my lord.” Ling Sheng told him. Sun Ce pushed his chair back and stood, and without missing a step, Ling Sheng moved to the side to avoid bumping into him. Sun Ce took the opportunity to turn until he was in front of her and in another quick motion, his hands moved up to grab her face.

“Nah, dinner isn’t necessary. I counted three scrolls. So…” Sun Ce dipped his head down and kissed her once, “one incentive to not bring me anymore,” another kiss when he felt Ling Sheng’s hands on his sides, “another to tell Zhou Yu I got the message,” and another kiss, “and one more just because you’re cute!”

Sun Ce let her go to lean against the table and he gave one more gesture to the covered table, “Please don’t send me anymore!”

She hides her chuckle behind her sleeve in a rare display of bashfulness--particularly because she expected more complaints than actual non-council related reactions. “Maybe, just maybe, I could ask to be Zhou Yu’s messenger from hereon if you’re going to give me this kind of hospitality.”

She bowed and turned to the door, not waiting for his response--and quite frankly, a bit of a distance might help slow down the vibe-killing thumping in her chest.--only to pause when her hand was halfway to the knob. “Gongjin told me to make sure you read and digest all those but,” She looks back at him with a renewed cheerful glint in her eyes, “If you’re up for a few rounds, I’ll be in the training area for some time.”
