Lost and Found

Gale rummaged through his shelves in desperation, books and papers uncharacteristically misplaced and tossed aside. Where did he leave his dragon egg? It was such an important belonging of his that he had a difficult time even considering he could’ve actually lost it. But, if he wanted any luck in finding it, he’d need to quiet down his rushing thoughts first.

The wizard took a step back and focused on his slowing down his breathing. Now thinking back, the last time he saw it was back in the Fugue Forest the day before, when he had been foraging materials with it in case it had begun to hatch. And as a result, he ended up getting a full bag by the end of his trip, leaving a few of his belongings behind in order to bring the more important ones back home.

Gale swallowed hard upon this realization. There was no way he could have, right..? Shaking his head, he continued his search through his room once more. He couldn’t have possibly been that reckless.

✧ That’s not what I meant, but I’m honored anyway. Vishnal stares at the bar for a moment, before realizing he should probably take it to be polite. An awed, vulnerable expression paints over his features, and he clutches it to his chest delicately. Like a baby.

✧ “Thank you,” he almost whispers, then clears his throat. No, he won’t cry at unexpected kindness today, especially since this is basically from himself in a roundabout way. “White chocolate’s fine, it’s chocolate. You’re already great at spreading cheer! Then again… who isn’t, when they have a basket of chocolates?”

The sorcerer slowly blinked at the his reaction. It wasn’t unexpected, but he thought it was rather odd for him to value something that he had just given away. “It’s fine... it was yours, after all...” he noted stiffly.

When the butler mentioned spreading cheer, Gale’s face lit up almost instantly. “You... think so..?” He peered curiously at the other man. If so, then maybe socializing wasn’t as difficult as he always made it out to be. He simply nodded at the last statement, though it was more out of obligation than agreement.

Apparently in Capitalism you Need A Job || Witchie & Gale

Well now that Witchie wasn’t hibernating and was awake she had to live somewhere and eat things and do stuff and stuff and stuff. That means she needed money. To get money she needed to work. She needed a job.

She heard that Gale owned a shop, a magic shop! That’s right up her alley. And surely Gale still remembered her and would give her a job!

Witchie made her way to Sorcery Emporium, which was a ways away from her. Luckily witches knew how to fly brooms. And she was a witch. Sure she can only fly 3 feet of the ground, but it’s faster than walking. She hopped on her broom and zoomed on over.

Upon arrival, Witchie spared no moment and barged right in. She surveyed the shop before spotting Gale, who she ran right over to.

“Heya, Gale!!! Give me a job!” She shouted cheerfully.

Gale had been sorting a few files that had to be taken care of when he heard a child’s voice ring through his ears, calling out his true name of all things. Thinking it odd, his head immediately whipped around to look at the source-- which took him by surprise when he saw that it was one he already knew. “Witchie..?” Was all he managed to mutter out before being presented with her sudden request. Blinking several times, he decided to comply, though it’d have to be on his own terms.

“Um, in order to do so... you’d have to fill out a resume and then...” He paused. Was there really a point in trying to explain the process to a child? A low sigh of resignation escaped the wizard. Well, maybe it was for the best if he was able to look after her from here on. It was about time she learned how to become more responsible, after all. “... I’ll appoint you as an apprentice. You... want to make potions, right..?”

Frey huffed. He had the nerve to tell her that he had things to finish up! And they lived in the same apartment complex, so she didn’t want to leave him by himself when they could walk together! Not because she didn’t want to go home alone, of course.

“You’re just reading a book, Wiz,” she replied, exasperated. “You can read books at home… And how many cups of coffee have you had today?”

“Um, seven...” The one that was in his hand was his eighth, but it was technically not a lie since he hadn’t drunk it yet. Placing a starry bookmark into his tome and shutting it closed, Gale looked up at the mint-haired girl with a passive look.

“... I'm alright. I’m used to this... kind of schedule,” he explained in a cool tone. "So... you don’t have to worry.” If that was the case-- which he was certain it was. He wasn’t unthankful towards her empathy, but it felt unnecessary to try to fix a centuries old habit of his.

The Fireworks Festival was always a marvelous spectacle to behold, so much so that even the reclusive wizard always made the time to participate. Picking a more secluded spot rather than a place where the view would be up close, Gale found himself eager for the festivities to begin, though his usual deadpan face would say otherwise. Then, he turned towards Frey.

He wasn’t so sure why she had decided to come along with him tonight. For one, she had plenty of other friends who much more sociable than him, but Gale knew he wouldn’t get anywhere by pondering on it. If she decided to stay on her own accord, that was enough for him to feel at ease.

Deciding it was the right time to do so, Gale reached into his bag and took out the two flasks he had brought along, one of which he held out towards the mint-haired girl.

“... Chocolate milk,” he explained. “It’s hot, so... be careful.”

Flower Festival: Planetarium

While Maru was a relatively new addition to the Kismet Planetarium crew, she was already starting to feel close to her fellow staff. She joined in on the flowery festivities, passing out bundles of a couple yellow roses, white freesias, and sunflowers each.

“Happy Flower Festival, everyone! It’s too bad they’re not selling asters down at the city hall. Although, sunflowers are close enough in namesake. And I think they’re in the same family of plants, if I remember right?”

Upon being presented with yet another bundle of flowers that day, Gale blinked in surprise. He was not yet used to this exchange of gifts, but he was quick to express his gratitude nonetheless. “Um, thank you...” he said, taking the bouquet into his hands with care. “I appreciate... it very much.”

“Indeed... though it would’ve been nice to... get some starflowers and moonflowers, too...” Though he was far from being well-versed in the language of the flowers, he couldn’t help but grow an affinity with those two from their names alone.

Of Alchemy and Flowers

Abigail raised her attention from steadying a few bottles on display, expecting to greet an unusually early customer. In this case, an unusually early and unusually floral customer.

She blinked a few times when she realized that the fluffy bunch of talking flowers was her boss.

Watching Gale present the bundles of yellow and blue flowers and seeing his obvious discomfort gave Abigail a funny feeling. Why was it so damned hard to watch other people get flustered?

Perhaps because she knew the feeling too well herself, she flushed a little at her boss’s presentation.

Still she mustered up the courage to smile as she clumsily selected her bunch of flowers from the counter.

“Ah, thank you,” she said, feeling a little tongue-tied herself now.

A little nervous energy, and maybe a little pity too, pushed her to muse further, “These are great! Sunflowers are my favorites– uh, despite the gloomy exterior. They remind me of home.”

As Abigail accepted one of his bouquets, Gale was relieved to see a small smile appear, as awkward as it was. At least his gesture was taken well, and in his standards, that was more than enough. “Um, it’s no problem... really.”

At the mention of sunflowers, the wizard’s expression suddenly became one of interest. “Is that so..?” This knowledge would definitely come in handy when her birthday came around. Though he wanted to find a suitable gift for each of his employees, he never felt quite right with using his crystal ball's power for something so trivial. “I’ll have to... keep that in mind then...”

Alicia wasn’t one to talk about her feelings often, but when it came to the group at the Kismet Planetarium, she didn’t mind showing her appreciation every so often. They had grown on her much like a family and being that she wasn’t close with most of her own, she was glad to have another so close.

“Everyone, it’s your lucky day~”

The fortuneteller walked into her place of work with five blue lisianthuses, one for each of her co-workers.

“You’re all very welcome.”

When Alicia approached him with a blue lisianthus in hand, Gale carefully accepted her offer, captivated by it’s vibrant colour. Receiving a flower from Alicia today had been unexpected, but he appreciated the gift nonetheless. Though the two of them had their differences, he was glad to have gotten to know her better over these past few months.

“... Lovely. Thank you, Alicia.”

Alchemy was a bit of a challenge. Whether it was finding ingredients or practicing it herself, something was a bit off when she tried without help. Ella was thankful that her boss was a patient man. Whenever she was struggling to remember what was what, he never got angry with her.

“Heya, Mr. Boss!! I have this for you!” She sang as she whipped out a sunflower. “Thank you for being a great boss!! I definitely enjoy working with you!”

Stunned by the girl’s bubbly demeanor, Gale quickly accepted the flower with much gratitude.

“Ah-- thank you, Ella...” He managed to sputter out. How was it possible to withhold so much cheer in one single person? Regardless, he couldn’t help but be a little flattered by her compliments, immediately shaking his head bashfully. “Not at all... rather, I’m grateful for all of your contributions thus far. I hope that... we can continue to work hard together, too.”

Being from the mainland, Abigail was kind of new to the whole "Flower Festival" thing. And being kind of new meant that she was kind of awkward about the whole floral affair too. Instead of presenting the Wizard with a bouquet in person, the girl opted to leave her boss's offering in his space at the Sorcery Emporium. The bunch of flowers, wrapped tightly with a black silk ribbon, consisted of a single yellow sunflower, a red alstroemeria, and a blue lisianthus. A simple note read: "x Abigail".

Gale curiously glanced down at the flowers that sat on his desk. To say he had not expected anything to come from his employees would be an understatement. In fact, the wizard found himself staring at it for a rather long while, as if to make sure what he was seeing was real. After some thought, he tentatively picked up the note attached, a faint huff escaping from his parted lips as he read the sender’s name.

He’d have to thank Abigail properly sometime. But for now, the colourful bouquet would certainly add a much needed flair to his plain office.
