Hayffie headcanon

At some point, Haymitch asked Effie if he could do her makeup.

Effie scoffs at the idea, but Haymitch insists he's had his own makeup done for years now at every games, and he's watched the stylists do tributes' makeup often enough that he thinks he can give it a bash. Eventually Effie relents, and towards the end of one of the games - a few days after losing their tributes - she lets him.

She feels him putting product on her face, then moving on to her eyes and then feels the tickle of foundation and blush brushes.

It takes forever but eventually he says he's done.

But what about her eyelashes?

"Oh you can do those yourself, I can't do those," he explains.

So she looks in the mirror and finds herself bare faced.

"I just stuck some primer and a little setting powder on you so you wouldn't know I hadn't actually put anything on you...you don't need all that crap Effie."

She spends the rest of the day pretending she's mad at him, but secretly she's very pleased.

Never in her life has anyone ever told her that she's fine without makeup, until now.

Been here pre sotr and I never thought I'd see the day someone calls Plutarch overhype lol like I remember two or three familiar faces that I see on a daily basis that appreciates how his character is written but none really excuses him for it.

It has probably been said before far more eloquently than I'm about to, but the line "Don't be a stranger" is quite literally the perfect way to end Haymitch and Effie's story in the movie canon. Like, that and the kiss?? Absolutely no notes.

Because it both ties a bow on their relationship, (if that's what you're into), whilst also blowing it wide open for their future, (if that's what you're into), he is literally inviting Effie to remain part of his life (in whatever capacity you want to interpret it).

So it stresses me out to no end that the epilogue for the Sunrise on the Reaping movie might ruin it by giving Haymitch a concrete ending that doesn't have Effie in it, and as much as I would love to see the gang back together (Jennifer, Josh and Woody are confirmed??), I still don't like the thought that the movie canon will change so significantly when it already had the perfect ending :(

Do you think that, after the war, Gale gets over Katniss easily??? How long do you think it takes him???

Katniss thinks so. She thinks while hunting in 12 after the war that he’s already kissing another pair of lips. I tend to agree with her. I think he spent her recovery time getting over her. He comes to give her the arrow she uses to shoot Coin with a very defeated attitude and doesn’t try even a little bit to recover their relationship. No apology, no sympathy. Just a detached goodbye. I also don’t think Katniss was a good match for him at all. I focus on how he is bad for her because Katniss is my girl and Gale angers me, but from his side of things she does not support his vision or match his freak and continuously falls short of the version of her he seems to be in love with. So I think it doesn’t take him long to get to 2 and find some fiery girl who thinks all his war crimes are super heroic and hot. Tiktok is sure full of ppl like that these days. He can start there. Good riddance

Hm, I disagree. I’m not a Gale fan but he was heartbroken during their goodbye scene, only he doesn’t have the words the way Peeta does and as for Katniss, well, she also believes most of Twelve hates her so I reckon we gotta take whatever she thinks not only with a grain of salt but grabfuls of the stuff.

I think he more or less fled to Two, diving into work as a way of distracting himself from his own sorrows, regrets and short-comings. I think he was first heartbroken, then angry, then really angry then heartbroken again until he finally in his own way with the help of whatever tools life had given him found a way to move on with his life.

With enough time and reflection, as an old man, I think he probably even sent Katniss warm thoughts whenever she popped into mind or showed up during some old footage on TV, thinking “Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing I hope you’re happy and has found all that you need to heal. Catnip.”
