STEVE JUST KNOWS THAT HE WILL NEVER HEAR THE END OF THIS. Dear God, HR will have his ass because of workplace safety or something, and yeah, okay, he probably will buckle in whenever he gets onto a chopper again, but it’s hardly his fault that one of the drug lord’s son’s fired a goddamn RPG at them for essentially kidnapping his criminal father and burning down the cocaine plantation. (That’s not SHIELD’s job, actually; they were there because the drug boss purchased alien technology off the black market, but Steve made an executive decision to destroy the drugs, too.)
Luckily, the chopper pilot managed to dodge the RPG, but during the aerial maneuver, Steve kind of… you know, fell out, and now he has to find his way back to civilization. After two days, he stumbles upon some sort of camp in the forest. His Spanish is bad, so he kinda tries to ask for help with gestures for telephone or car when he hears somebody talk English behind him. Thank God. “Oh, um, yeah,” he says, turning around and looking at the man. He’s in his uniform (and has the shield strapped to his back), so it’s not a surprise that somebody recognized him. “I’m a little lost, to be quite honest. Do you have a working telephone or satellite phone, Mister…?”
Druig tilts his head slightly to the side as Steve speaks. “Lost? Yes, I assumed so. I agree.” He speaks, because really, Steve had no business to be here in his little peaceful piece of Earth. He may be a hero, and Druig trusts him completely, but he also knows that wherever the Avengers are, there’s trouble. And that’s EXACTLY what he doesn’t want. Not here. Not now. Not ever.
“Usually we do, but you came at an unfortunate time. Our receiver broke down a couple of days ago, and it’s not exactly easy finding people around here to fix it.” Druig says, before holding a hand out. “Druig.”
“How long have you been lost? We have enough resources.. if you want to have a meal and get some rest..” He suggests, starting to walk, sort of assuming Steve would follow him. “Everything around here was grown and made by the people in this village. We don’t get a lot of outsiders here.” The Eternal explains, soon enough getting to the storage building. “Do you like fruits?”
