Es triste saber que el amor que invertiste hacia una persona que no te ama pudo haber sido un amor invertido hacia ti mismo.

Having conditions affecting the digestive and excretory systems is just so isolating.
Because even in semi-disability-aware spaces, talking about symptoms relating to the GI and excretory systems is still treated as TMI, as gross.
Even friends and family members are grossed out just seeing us put laxative in our water, or run to the bathroom all the time, or sit weirdly because of an immensely painful gas bubble.
And we internalize this shame so much that when we actually have to describe our symptoms in a medical setting, we hold back, and use euphemisms, because we're so used to having to do so.
It's so so isolating.
Babygirl my brain is creating so many physical aches unexplainable by modern medicine
I no longer desire to have internal organs
it’s okay to have “unflattering” symptoms
it’s okay to have “embarrassing” symptoms
it’s okay to have “gross” symptoms
it’s okay to have “ugly” symptoms
it’s okay to have “inconvenient” symptoms
Don't feel bad if you haven't recovered from a condition your doctor says is "very treatable." Doctors and society in general often underestimate how debilitating pain, physical illnesses, and mental health problems can be. Don't listen to anyone who insinuates that you don't want to get better or aren't committed to your treatment because your symptoms haven't improved much. Take as long as you need to heal.
A meme about my current situation because this is how I cope
Like I know IBS is always the subject of jokes bc Haha Poop Funny but I don’t think people realize how painful and disruptive to your life it is. Like IBS is a chronic illness that effects your diet, ability to go places, and it puts you in excruciating abdominal pain way more often than you’d think, but no one takes it seriously even though it is extremely impactful on your quality of life, and it’s a hell of a lot more common than people think
We can joke about our own disease but you don’t get to mock us for it just bc you’re too immature to see a mention of poop without laughing. Imagine getting the worst food poisoning of your life once a week or more. That’s what it’s like.

“To be young, queer, and black in America means that you can be misunderstood. You can be hated. It also means that you can be celebrated and loved. And I think there’s a lot at stake when you’re living out loud in that way”.
