Alex never really figured out what caused their split. Maybe it was Kitty wanting a future? Or his own fault for not giving her enough time at the end of their short run together. It could have even been Lineage, stealing away any chance of a social life, let alone a relationship; completely draining him. Yet, when he thought of Kitty there were only good times. Smiles. She was young, became dependent too fast, as much as she wished she could say it was no longer an issue, deep down she knew that as soon as it was offered. She longed for what the institute could no longer give her in this war time...love. It was small and petty, but there was a void in her, it had been growing since her parents outcasted her for such freakish sorcery. She still remembered how they called her monster, how the love in their eyes seeped. How after everything she was...still wasn’t enough.
“Yeah-trying my own thing for a while, seeing how well I can cope.” she said, her eyes growing puzzled at her easy overshare, how quickly could she fall back into that, how soon would she be left hurt. “Didn’t expect to see such a handsome not so stranger on my doorstep, but you were always full of surprises weren’t you?”
