“Fair enough and I’m guessing you are the brutally honest type. Exactly what I needed.” she said, her voice like a small hum, mostly joking, unaware of the situation that would unfold, how every part of her would be tested by the following acquaintance. Holding her box back up she hugged it close, the cardboard creating a odd sort of burn against her fingers at the awkward angle as she inspected the house around her. “Could be worse.” she muttered under her breath as she waved lightly at those who would be her new roommates. “Isn’t there some kind of rule about stranger danger…says the girl who found her apartment on Craig’s list.” she said a small and anxious laugh escaping her lips.
“Craig’s List? Ew.” His face scrunched up in open judgment, confirming her suspicion of brutal honesty, but more than anything it was natural. Flynn’s words were raw with truth but lilting. He could help her and laugh at her at the same time. Craig’s List. “I hope this is just a temporary situation in the interim, between jobs or some shit. I would sleep with my wallet in my pillowcase and install my own door lock.”
Though he did his best to keep his expression from relaying such, her current situation worked in his favor and it wasn’t something he had been counting on. It was a house full of losers, mostly, though that would have been his judgment on most anyone but the more desperate Kitty found herself the easier it would be to lure her out. Get her to take that small step to start momentum.
“No danger from me, so long as everyone pays their tab. I can hook you up with some samples on the spot if you want to pass some time unpacking or whatever. For a full menu, I’m gonna need your number...provided you’re not wasting my time and pretending to be interested in our product. You know about the good hangouts yet, or no?”
