flofawley·:
Florence had wandered off the Great Hall not long before the chaos happened. And now? She was getting scared, only wanting to make it back there soon, back where people were. Except she was faced with a ghost from the past much before she was in the Great Hall. It actually took her a moment to recognize him, it had been… such a long time. But the moment he looked her way, she knew. “Orion? What… why are you here?” Last she heard, he was still in Azkaban. She would’ve preferred it that way.
florence. his terrible, halfblood, cousin. looking at her disgusted him. the fawley name was tainted with someone as horrible as florence. she deserved to die. then his family would be pure again and they would be able to thrive in the world, not create other half breeds who didn’t deserve magic. “oh my dear, dear cousin.” he said, looking at her. “i came to visit my family. it’s so nice to see you again. still screwing people over?” he asked. “my dear elijah could have done so much better than you. you don’t deserve happiness.” he said. he wasn’t sure if flo knew why he hated her so much. he wasn’t as accepting as his annoying sister coraline. “now you have two options scram or you end up like everyone else.” he said.

And it was another one, dead before the night ended. He was thriving in the chaos, and as he crossed over the dead boy who’s only mistake was to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, his eyes fell on the new person who was walking towards him in the hallway, as he stood there twirling his wand in his hand. “Do you want to be next?” he asked, his voice sweet as honey - before a maniacal laughter left his lips, echoing through the corridor. The few months at Azkaban had made him more deranged than he used to be, and it showed.
orion was thriving in the chaos. azkaban was too confined for his liking and he hadn’t been able to speak to his favorite person. escaping had been easy. breaking into hogwarts had been even easier and he practically jumped down the hall with excitement at every death and injury. “oh. this one is pretty! but not as pretty as you.” he said to eli, clapping his hands together before he turned to face the girl. “what’s someone like you doing out here. have a death wish?” he asked, sending a random spell towards someone running by. @catmacdougal·

Regulus was scared-terrified, if he was being honest. People were hurt-he didn’t know what was happening but he knew it wasn’t good. The smart thing to do would be to hide. Even if he managed to get through this unscathed, there was always the risk of his actions getting back to his parents and inevitably having to face their wrath.
He had been helping a student-a muggle born, one with a bigger target on their back than he had-when he glanced up and saw a rather angry looking man. Regulus gulped at his words, steeling himself as he positioned himself between the student and the man. “You just-aren’t a student,” he said dumbly, not sure what to do.
orion knew the moment he saw the other who this was. it was his sister's future husband. while they didn't know that yet, he certainly did. "regulus black." he said, looking over the boy. he would make a good husband for cora except for the fact he was protecting a mudblood. "move away from the mudblood." he seethed. "or i'll make sure your father doesn't get the connection to my family." he laughed, moving to point his wand at the other before he sent a warning shot off to the side, hitting a random student who had been passing by. "i'm not afraid to hurt you especially for protecting one of them. they deserve to die."

He offered Cora a smile, “Thanks,” he murmured. He didn’t think he looked anything special tonight-he hadn’t put all that much effort into his look-but he appreciated the compliment all the same. “It’s been a pretty fun night,” he agreed. Regulus liked parties and dances, it turned out. “I’d love to, thanks, Cora!” he agreed, taking her hand.
cora smiled and went out to the dance floor so they could dance. she let out a quiet laugh as the song changed from something upbeat and easy to dance to song to a very slow and romantic song. “are you sure you still want to dance?” she asked awkwardly. cora didn’t understand romance or doing coupley things so she wasn’t opposed to not dancing, though being a pureblood she was quite used to it.

Regulus felt restless, and had since he first woke up in the hospital wing. He was certain that a letter from his parents would be coming the second he was out of here, that an inevitable summons home for what his parents perceived to be a disgraceful choice would soon arrive. He couldn’t bring himself to regret his actions, though. For once he had acted on his gut, followed his heart, and he couldn’t fault himself for that. But Merlin, was waiting the worst. “Do you think Madame Pomfrey would get upset if I had someone bring my cat to me?” he asked the person closest to him.
the moment cora's brother had told her that he'd hurt regulus she felt furious. not because her and the boy were close but because of the words her brother had said and the fact that it was a fellow slytherin and someone who was her year. after things had settled down, cora made her way to the hospital wing to check on him. she had a cut on her cheek and some bruises but she wasn't as bad as most. she'd been lucky. her brother could have done more damage and he had to other people, but he’d let her off easy. "probably but i am willing to risk that. i'm so sorry you got hurt. h-how are you feeling?" she asked.
mccnyrcmus·:
A laugh escaped his lips as he shook his head, allowing himself to be dragged towards the dance floor. “I’m warning you I’m terrible,” He mused, before shimmying his shoulders.
“that’s okay.” cora said, before she started dancing just as horribly as him so that he wouldn’t be embarrassed. “you are an amazing dancer. you have nothing to worry about!”
ORION FAWLEY OPEN STARTER @finestra-starters
oh, how good it felt to be out of azkaban finally. the muggles he had killed had deserved it so the fact his ass had been thrown in azkaban to rot had seriously put him in a bad mood. azkaban was a horrible place with horrible people and orion didn’t few himself as one of those people. after a quick trip home to speak with his father, the death eater made his way to hogwarts to pay a visit to his two baby sisters.
valentines day disgusted orion and the thought of his sisters making out with people or being in love was even weirder. so the fact he got to ruin someone's night of love made him squirm with excitement. wand in hand he made his way through the corridors, flinging random spells at people or objects he deemed annoying. “what are you looking at?” he asked, tilting his head as he saw someone stop and stare at him.

Anna paused, looking down at the glass–obviously water, but the gesture was sweet. She put down her whiskey, reaching for the glass, the saddest hint of a smile on her lips. “Bottoms up, Fawley,” she teased, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes as she downed the half of the water easily. It didn’t much matter, really; she’d be back to drinking after this dance, but it sounded nice. The band changed, playing a slow song, a soft ballad, and she couldn’t help but chuckle. “You want to slow dance with me? Seriously? Merlin, I’m shit at actual dancing, but alright. I finish this, and we dance.”
cora wasn't convinced that anna believed her trick but she drank the water anyway which made her happy. the change in music made cora let out and awkward chuckle. "it's okay. i'm a pretty shit dancer as well." she said. "we can go out there and fist pump to this slow song and show them how it's done." she said, smiling in amusement.
clairexparks·:
“There are people other than your cousin in here.” she pointed out before brightening up at her compliment. “Thank you so much.” she said happily, laughing when she said she looked hot. “Thanks for that too, someone has to.” she added teasingly.
"yeah. i just don't like kissing." she said. cora had never understood it or relationships. she tensed to stay away from anything that would create feelings of attachment in that manner. "oh! i love your confidence. keep it up."
otto-bagman·:
“You…really have great dancing skills.” Otto nodded along with a small, polite smile. “So, really, you’d be better off by yourself. I’m a terrible dancer, I’d end up dragging you down with myself.”
"no one is an awful dancer. it's all in your imagination. please come with me. it's only one dance." she said, holding her hand out for the other. "i promise i'll take it easy on you and won't show off too much."
mccnyrcmus·:
“I’m great, for once,” Remus grinned with a shrug of his shoulders, before a pout slipped into his lips as the other stole his drink. “Do you often steal random peoples drinks?” He asked, before frowning at her hand. “I can’t dance,” He admitted, before taking her hand anyway. “But I’m honestly too tipsy to care.”
"yes." she said, nodding her head at his question. she did often take people's drinks because she felt weird asking for her own. "yes! good." she said, sitting the cup down and going to the dance floor. "show me what you've got." she said, grinning.

Regulus felt lighter than he had in weeks, the atmosphere of the dance filling him with happiness as he made his way across the room in search of his friends. He hadn’t originally wanted to go, but he was glad now that he was here. “Cora!” he smiled at his housemate, stopping in his search to greet her. “You look great tonight,” he told her, “Are you having a good time?”
with regulus's compliment cora's cheeks turned slightly pink. "oh my gosh thank you reg." she said. "you look amazing as well. i'm having more fun than i expected. are you having fun? would you like to dance?" she asked, extending her hand out to him.
bertiebertaubrey·:
Bertram already hated the idea of a dance, having to actually dance was certainly worse. But maybe it was his current buzz, or the fact this was one of his best friends, that lead him to do a few moves, although that was cut very short. “Alright, that’s as much as I’ll do. I don’t have your skills to keep going.”
cora let out a quiet laugh when bertram joined her. "bert! you did amazing." she said, taking his hand. "come now! we need to go get something to eat and drink. you've done quite enough dancing. are you having a good time?" she asked, knowing this was not his type of scene.
“come on, i’m a great dancer. why won’t you dance with me?” cora asked, looking at the person as she started dancing with the music. yes she was slightly drunk at this point but she was having a lot of fun which was extremely rare for the girl in social situations. “pleaseeee. don’t make me beg you.” she said, taking another sip of her drink.
halfbloodhiggs·:
August’s abrupt arrival back into Anna’s life had definitely changed the course of her night. She’d been planning to have a relaxed night, maybe get laid by the end, and now she had a moral quandary to deal with. She loved her brother with all of her heart, and a big part of her had wanted to throw herself at him and sob like a little girl again. But she wasn’t a child, and he had hurt her before. Part of her wondered how long it would be before he disappeared again–perhaps, this time, it’d be of his own volition. After about four drinks, she found herself in a darker corner on the outskirts of the Great Hall, drinking whiskey on her own as she tried to reason with her own feelings.
The sound of approaching feet had her groaning. “–’M fine, I swear.” Her head dipped down slightly, giving a half-hearted chuckle before she moved up to take another swig of her whiskey. “Promise.”
@finestra-starters·
“no you’re not.” cora said, looking at the other. cora moved to sit next to her, holding out some water. “you should drink this instead. it tastes just as great as that does.” she said, smiling softly at her and hoping that the girl was drunk enough to not be able to tell that she was trying to get her to drink some water. “you look so great. you shouldn’t be sitting in the corner by yourself drinking. if you drink this then i’ll dance with you.” she said softly.
