WHILE  SHE  MAY  BE  A  WEREWOLF ,  thus  having  supernatural  strength  and  reflexes ,   she’s  a  terrible  fighter  as  a  teenager .    i  mean ,   this  is  mainly  my  headcanon  but  it’s  not  exactly  like  canon  disputes  it .    she’s  caught  by  the  alpha  pack ,   and  there’s  no  way  in  hell  she’d  go  down  without  a  fight .   she  tries  to  fight  ennis ,   when  she  hasn’t  even  finished  healing ,  like  a  dumb  ass  because  she’s  angry  and  stubborn  and  she  can’t  think  past  the  sound  of  her  heart  beating  in  anger .   she  lashes  out  at  aiden  after  boyd’s  death ,    in  a  vicious  flurry  of  anger  and  grief .   she’s  a  beta ,   she  knows  she  can’t  beat  an  alpha  and  yet  she  tries  it .  

her  technique  is  to  just  go  for  it :   hit  ‘em  where  it  hurts .   there’s  not  any  thought  behind  it .   she’s  not  trained  in  how  to  fight  -  the  pack  that  took  her  in  were  peaceful  and  respected  by  the  supernatural  they  knew .   that  doesn’t  mean  the  adults  weren’t  trained  should  that  change ,   but  cora  was  still  sixteen  and  so  they  refused  to  let  her  participate  when  they  trained .   other  werewolves ,   better  fighters ,   will  know  her  next  move  before  she  will .  even  though  she’s  winging  it  as  she  fights ,   she’s  still predictable  as  a  teenager .  

it’s  in  her  older  verses  where  she’s  a  challenge .    as  a  mercenary ,   there  are  often  times  where  those  she’s  been paid  to  bring  in  don’t  want  that  to  happen .   they’ll  fight .   she  begins  training  with  braeden  when  she  and  derek  visit  the  ranch  her  pack  resides  in .    after  braeden  leaves ,  when  the  desert  wolf  and  malia  are  sorted  out ,   and  cora  says  another  goodbye  to  beacon  hills ,   cora  continues  to  train .    she  joins  a  gym  frequented  by  the  likes  of  former  navy  seals ,  discharged  soldiers  who  find  solace  in  the  discipline  their  regime  provides ,   and  trains  with  them .   her  pack  train  with  her ,   when  she’s  in  beacon  hills  scott  and  the  pack  do  too .   she  and  malia  brawl  for  the  hell  of  it  (she’ll  never  tell  her  but  she’s  the  best  to  spar  with :   she  doesn’t  hold  back .   she  fights  like  it’s  her  life  on  the  line .)

can you imagine if cora was the one who died in the vault tho instead of erica ?? derek coming to save his two betas and being hapy that they’re safe but then he catches the sad and just horrified looks on their face, their pitying looks and he’s so confused. and then they tell him to go to the supply closet and he swears for a second the corpse on the ground is his sister, but then he’s so sure his mind is playing tricks on him. but then erica’s crying and she’s enveloping him in a giant bear hug and now derek’s lost another family member, not even knowing this one survived.

you  keep  to  yourself ,   no  one  really  knows  anything  about  you .    the  mystery  surrounding  you  is  both  scary  and  alluring ,   which  is  your  power .    people  don't  know  you ,   they  don't  know  what  you're  capable  of ,    and  because  of  this  they  likely  won't  push  you .    and  on  the  flip  side ,    most  people  will  do  a  lot  of  what  you  say  to ,    in  hopes  of  being  the  one  person  who  knows  something  about  you .    you  can  be  whoever  you  want  to  be ,    whenever  you  want .    you  could  be  the  shy  but  nice  person ,     the  creepy  person ,   the  cool  if  reckless  person ,    and  all  because  no  one  knows  you .    all  you  need  to  do  is  suggest  at  things ,    and  people  will  believe  you .    as  my  dad  told  me …     mystery  is  power.
