Two prominent US commentators say they have been banned from entering the UK this week because of their outspoken stances against Israel’s g

Basically my primary frustration with a lot of mainstream left-ish framings of trans issues is the treatment of trans rights as a concession they're making to be nice, rather than a principled stance grounded in a real, material understanding of the world.
It leads to this attitude of being vaguely embarrassed to support trans people, which crumbles when Right Wing Dipshit Pundit #33145 starts going on about "harsh truths" that a competent advocate could call out for being incorrect.
Stories quoting three sources can be nothing of the sort, according to the Times parliamentary sketch writer: they are all from the same per
Political journalists at Westminster conspire with ministers’ aides to fake multiple sources for stories to give them spurious credibility.
That is the shocking claim made yesterday by a senior political journalist on The Times newspaper.
The paper’s parliamentary sketch writer, Tom Peck, says stories that purport to feature quotes from three government sources, including a Cabinet Minister, are often false.
In fact, all the quotes may well have come from a single Labour spin doctor – in collaboration with a journalist who “can then make it look as though you have spoken to three different people when you haven’t”.
Peck’s allegation in an interview for BBC Radio Four political programme, Strong Message Here, was met with disbelief by the show’s host, political satirist Armando Iannucci.
He exclaimed “Whaaat?!” in response to the disclosure.
After stating he was “loath to pull the wizard’s curtain too far back on my colleagues”, Peck went on to explain how he said it worked. If the spin doctor – or special adviser – was a “real pro”, they would “give you three different ways you can quote them”, he said.
“All the spin doctors say ‘you can quote me as a Cabinet member, you can quote me as a senior Labour source, you can quote me as a Starmer acolyte’, or what have you. It is all the same person.”
Iannucci: “And that person will give you three different quotes?” Peck: “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Totally.”

read the ehrc policy & from my understanding:
allowing trans ppl in single sex spaces based on their gender reassignment (ie. trans women in women's spaces & trans men in men's spaces) can be classed as discrimination
allowing trans ppl in single sex spaces based on their assigned gender at birth (ie. trans men in women's spaces & trans women in men's spaces) can also be classed as discrimination, bc it could cause cis ppl discomfort or distress
allowing trans ppl to use single sex spaces makes them mixed sex spaces by default. it can be classed as discrimination to only offer mixed sex spaces and no single sex
the only way to safely avoid legal accusations of discrimination is to either a) refuse/limit trans ppl's access to a service (which is explicitly considered to be lawful & acceptable) or b) offer a third separate mixed sex space for everyone's use

I remember growing up with this belief that because my body would be capable of pregnancy, I owed it to (?? the world?) to give birth before I died. just because it was a thing my body was "supposed to" do.
starting from my earliest inquiries into existence via "where did I come from" questioning as a tiny child, I was introduced to pregnancy as an inevitability, something fundamental to being alive that I would experience. I began my life with the understanding that I would experience both childbirth and death, and that it was pointless and maladaptive to express fear about either of them.
as I got older, everything I saw and read and heard about pregnancy/childbirth taught me that it was scary, painful, disabling, and often caused death, but that this was a sort of noble sacrifice that everyone must endure for the good of (??? the species?).
and then one day it just hit me that a slight majority of people on earth never experience pregnancy ever. they live full, meaningful lives. so maybe I did not have to do this terrible scary painful thing to be a human being, and have my life matter to people.
but soon after that realization, I started witnessing & experiencing sexual violence and became aware that as long as I had that organ, it was not my decision. I could always be forced to endure this. learning about the reactionary movements to block access to all protections against this (birth control & abortion) further emphasized that this was not under my control.
during my first pregnancy scare when I was a young teen, I found myself with perfect unshakeable certainty that if I ever became pregnant and could not access abortion within a month, I would kill myself. it was the only option, and I would take it. as I grew into an adult, I took with me the constant knowledge that suicide was my final protective option.
I was terrified to die. I didn't want to kill myself. I wanted to remove my uterus. but despite me begging every single doctor to just let me learn about my options, it took thirteen years to actually get a referral to a consultation with a surgeon and finally get a hysterectomy.
if you want kids to not kill themselves, let them get permanent irreversible surgeries to reshape or remove their sexed traits. it is not a decision kids pursue without consideration for the world around them; it is deeply informed by the world around them. these are not expressions of trivial desires for short-term benefits without consideration for how it will impact their bodies for the rest of their lives. these are profound assertions about what constitutes a bearable physical reality for someone during their one brief shot at existence before death.
it's not "irreversible damage." it is life itself.
Karl Marx was disabled, and relied on Engels for rent.
I think this is the best essay on the topic yet, the theory section actually engages seriously with marx

hi! Trans man here! Ended up finding this blog after Tumblr would NOT stop feeding me bullshit from the transandrophpbia tag. It was so baffling to me the level of ignorance from people in my own community towards the idea that they could possibly have any amount of privilege over another Trans person. Its so disheartening to see so many people ditch the concept of intersectionality the second it stops them from being seen as the most oppressed group ever or whatever. The amount of times I've seen Trans men on these blogs blow posts from Trans women way out of proportion and start like witchhunts against them for nothing burger posts and then turn around and go "Trans women are treated the same trust" as they do everything they can to ruin their lives. So many times I've seen ppl on the transandrophobia tag take a joke post from a Trans woman that says something along the lines of "atp just nuke tmes im so tired" and decide this is the way that every Trans woman must view Trans men and we should actually never speak to Trans women because of this. Like thats insane???? Like the level to which all of these guys ignore any sense of nuance in order to just yell about how mean Trans women are or some shit (and all their examples are purely online because Trans women aren't saying this shit in real life, which these guys would know if they actually spoken to one even once). While some posts on the tag did seem somewhat reasonable at first I began to realize that a lot of them seem to be based on the idea that everything a Trans woman says on the internet is reflective of them in real life as if thats just how the internet works. A lot of the evidence they propose for how Trans men actually aren't privileged over Trans women in any way is just "well sometimes they say mean things online about us and thats oppression" like what??. So glad I blocked that tag and started seeking out transfeminist blogs and realizing the bullshit strawman arguments these dudes were making against yall are based in nothing. Thank you for being a voice of reason in the noise of a bunch of annoying men who want to win the oppression Olympics. Genuinely love ur blog
it's dire out there anon, I appreciate your field reporting. glad you find my blog valuable ♥️
The Times has been banging on against "antisemitism from the Left" since the start of the protests but since Zach Polanski is not a good Jew they are pulling out the most on the nose Nazi caricatures of the man.
The right wing is obviously concern trolling by saying "oh but thats what he looks like". It's absurd. Drawing the only Jewish party leader as a deformed Jude? Not antisemitic.
Saying anything pro-Palestine? You literally want all Jews on the earth to die.
Something that happens a lot in non-binary spaces is that a new member of the community will ask a tone-deaf transphobic question like "Hi, AFAB here, I was wondering if any other AFAB NBs had advice about swimsuits? My AFAB chest means I can't wear swimsuits for AMABs," and an established community member will have to gently explain that not only are we are a community of people who often change their bodies to a degree that certificated sex becomes a useless way to describe anatomy, but we are also a community of people who often join the community explicitly to get away from our birth sex assignment, and so referring to people that way can be really offensive.
And no matter how gently this is pointed out, the newbie will often initially feel instinctively defensive towards what they perceive as scolding. Which means that when another community member comes along and says "Don't worry about the language police 🙄, many of us think AGAB language is fine, it's a useful way to refer to the kind of formative experiences you had as a child," the newbie will latch on to them like a life raft.
And yes, we live in a transphobic society, a lot of people coming into the trans community will have uninterrogated transphobic views, but that just makes them more vulnerable when there is always someone in the community willing to tell them "no, your transphobic views are fine actually, and in fact here are some more you might not have thought of!"
It means a sizeable chunk of newly-out NBs are swiftly radicalised into increasingly extreme transphobia and transmisogyny simply as a defense mechanism against having their own comments criticised. One day they're just happy to join a community where people supposedly don't judge you on your birth sex, and the next they're talking about the importance of "AGAB socialisation".
It's a really big problem and I don't know what we can do about it.

The video in question:
the sad truth is that mass layoffs are a feature that happens regularly in the capitalist system. the market doesn't care whether workers can find another job. it doesn't care whether there are unemployment benefits. it doesn't care that those 1,000 kenyan workers and their families were depending on their $2.20 per hour. if you're not profitable, you have to go. we need socialism, where's there's guaranteed employment, housing, and medical care
