Big Machine: At no point did we say Taylor could not perform on the AMAs

What they actually mean: We threatened Taylor that if she plays her old songs at the AMAs this will be considered an early re-recording of her music before she is allowed to do so. Of course we didn’t say she couldn’t perform though.

Big Machine:....or block her Netflix special.

What they actually mean: We didn’t block her Netflix Special, because we can’t actually do that. We just blocked her ability to use the music that we own.

Big Machine: In fact, we do not have the right to keep her from performing live anywhere.

What they actually mean: We’re just gonna focus on Taylor Swift as a whole in statements to avoid the truth about us using her music as an ultimatum for her to stop talking about our shady ways and to NOT re-record her music. Keep it broad and vague, and oh, we’ll throw some unrelated stuff in there too to paint Taylor as the bad guy so it’s not us. That’ll distract them.
