Not up to my standard but the game crashed after every single item I added so I didn’t have much of a choice

Would have loved to add some cool tech themed stickers and some butterflies here and there but there was literally no way I could do that without the screen going black and kicking me out of the app :(

I'm not saying there's zero privacy issues here and maybe they will sell the data to 3rd party companies but i think the particular nefarious plot they have with the period tracker is the parasociality it wants to create between the player and nikki, which the game has already been doing since launch, but instead of faux text conversations, it now revolves around your menstrual cycle, this asks for details of your real life in a way the game hasnt before.

This makes it feel like an escalation, before the text convos the player initiates were a premade list of broad, nonspecific moods, and nikki may ask broad generic questions like if you enjoyed sports or were a student . This represents a crossing of the boundary between the fantasy friendship between the fictional self insert and nikki and details of your own real life. So it makes me rather uncomfortable.

I think their secondary motivation is that they want to further establish themselves as the girl studio that makes games by and for girls, any game aimed at a male or even neutral audience were never going to add this feature lol. It directly alienates half the population. It's a bold statement of target demographic that papergames has advertised itself as and what's brought them such success despite operating in a male dominated space. Papergames demonstrates their continued commitment to appealing to women ('s wallets)

Nikki period tracker should have a "I don't get periods" option but Nikki still complains about how bad hers are ever month

This new update is making the game genuinely unplayable, I’m considering quitting Shining Nikki altogether.

I’ve already been dysphoric as hell recently and this update is just making me wanna kms. This used to be a cozy comfort game but now it’s just a reminder of everything I hate. Why do they even give you the option to choose your pronouns if they’re going to do this? In the beginning of the game and in every survey they ask, so why now do they completely disregard everything and assume everyone playing the game is a girl?

This makes me so uncomfortable. I’ve been playing this game for five years. This game was my comfort when I had no friends. But now it making me hate myself. I couldn’t get through the new Nikki text interaction without crying.

Why would they do this?

I don’t understand.

Yes, I always knew I wasn’t the target audience of the game, but I still felt like there was a space for me. That “style is for everyone” message now feels like a superficial lie. This hurts so bad. I invested so much time and love into this game- not to mention bad spending habits- but now I feel like it’s all for nothing.

The game is genuinely telling me there’s no place for someone like me here. The game that once made me feel comfortable and happy when I had no one else. All of it is gone. This is the worst thing they could have done with the game.

I would recommend reading through their privacy policy, the sheer amount of data being stolen and brokered sucks.

Yes it’s a fun dress up game, but in a world of government and corporate surveillance, you need to keep your head on a swivel for this.

Okay yeah still got the update even tho I selected male and have been referred to as that the entire game. This is just ridiculous and completely unnecessary for LITERALLY EVERYONE!!!! No one freaking asked for this, it’s just one more god damn useless feature making the game even more unplayable because of all the useless junk taking up storage/memory and causing more lag/crashes.

Is there anything way we can have a petition to have this removed??? Like this is genuinely fucked. You’re not telling “Nikki” about your personal health, YOU’RE TELLING SOME RANDOM ASS GAME THAT COULD OR COULD NOT BE SENDING THIS DATA TO A THIRD PARTY. To clarify I don’t think there’s anything wrong with periods like in general. It’s completely normal and should be talked about. BUT NOT IN A GAME WHERE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE DATA IS GOING?????? Isn’t that like a breach of privacy??? Granted it’s optional but who in their right mind would use this anyway??? There’s health apps for that, a dressup game doesn’t NEED and absolutely should not have this feature

im no substitute for tech support but all the advice i can offer is the "repair" button in the title screen or sending those screenshots to customer service (button is also in title screen). i hope it can get fixed soon!

I’ve had it since early highschool, so probably 6 or so years. Which I think is the average lifespan for a phone these days?

This isn’t funny anymore y’all… I can’t play this game anymore. I love Shining Nikki, I’ve been playing it for 5 years. But these glitches are so bad it’s making the game genuinely unplayable. I’m at a loss, I don’t know what to do or how to even fix this. The game has crashed on me at least 10 times today and I’ve been playing for less than 30 minutes
