"You can find trustworthy people, Emmylou" Roxy insisted. "Women’s intuition certainly helps pick out the seedier ones." She knew Pengy wasn’t entirely fine with her. He did business with her but he kept telling her to cut back and reign it in. That wasn’t in Roxy’s dictionary and it drove the Penguin up a wall.

"But you mentioned work. What exactly are you looking to do?" What could a girl like Emmylou want when coming to a place like this. She was big, strong and by the court legally free. The Stacked Deck wasn’t the reputable spot in town for anyone.

"Anything that puts my skills ta good use and helps bring in the green. I need cash like a dog needs ta hunt." Emmylou said as she finished off her drink with a single strong gulp. She sat it back down on the bar top with a loud clack before looking back to Roxy, lowering her voice before continuing on. 

"Considerin' all the work I've ever done's been for my Pa whose still servin' time up at the state farm, I'm in need of a new line a work and bein' an accomplice ta terrorist activity don't look to good on no resume so...guess I'ma lookin' fer somethin' quick and under the table ya know?"

Harley smiled and stood up, giving her hand to Emmylou. “It’s ain’t far from here.” She smiled wide and walked out of the gym with her. After a couple of minutes of walking she brought her into an abandoned bowling alley. Then took her up stairs and into a nice apartment.  ”Ta-da!” She said flicking on a light switch.

Emmylou took Harley's hand with her own as she got up, scooping up her duffel bag and throwing it over her shoulder on her way out. She followed the Harlequin with a pep in her step that simply could not be discouraged. She paused only briefly as she scanned the abandoned bowling alley. It was a strange place to live, but then again she lived in an artificial farm underneath an experimental microbiology lab located in a research facility on a small island off shore, so really, who was she to judge?

When the lights flicked on in the apartment above she tossed her bag down and it made a clattering on the floor that to a woman as experienced in the business as Harley would immediately give away that she packed more than just clothes for the day. The sound a large gun made when it hit the ground was hard to misinterpret in an otherwise quiet room, but the country girl gave no thought to it in the least, too focused on the room and the girl sharing it with her. 

"It's definitely one of a kind. I like it!" she said with a grin.

Harley let out a roaring laugh and doubled over. “I like the way ya think.” She said in between laughs. She composed herself and wiped her eye’s. “Wanna go to my place then?”

She pulled herself up onto her knees while the other woman doubled over with laughter. She crawled a little closer to Harley watching as she let out a chuckle of her own as the infectious laughter threatened to spread. When she managed to collect herself Emmylou gave her a big grin as she watched her.

"Oh it's like ya read my mind." she cooed softly, "Just lead the way"

Harley smiled wide before and after the kiss. “Not bad kid.” She said softly with a giggle. “Was that ya first or have ya been in this business before?” Harley asked not able to wipe the smile off her face.

Emmylou darkened a little after the kiss, causing her freckles to blend in with the blush. She was not embarrassed by the kiss as much as she was by the question that followed. Coupled with the ‘not bad’ she wasn’t sure if that meant she did well for a newbie or if the fact she was new at this showed because it needed a lot of work. 

"Kissed once or twice…" She admitted, "Didn’t get many chances fer foolin’ around back on the farm, what with bein’ on ‘at island all on our lonesome."

The blonde nodded. “Well I guess I can show ya the ropes.” She smirked and gave her another, longer kiss. Harley pulled back with happy sigh. Harley for a long time felt the weight off her shoulders. “Don’t let ya Pa know we weren’t really workin’ out.”

The kiss left the younger woman in a daze, kissing air for a brief second before she snapped back to reality. That didn’t ever have to end as far as she was concerned. Licking her lips slowly she watched Harley pull back.

"Pa? O’ course not! Iffin’ he ever found out, he’d be madder than an old wet hen. He jus’ wants ta protect me, can’t see after all we been through I’ve seen ‘bout all there is under the sun."

Harley pushed the other girl’s hair back with a smile. “Good.” She giggled a bit. “One day we can have all night practice.” She winked sitting up more. “Unless ya would actually wanna do workin’ out.” Harley raised an eyebrow and pulled her legs to her chest. 

"It’s fine with me whatever ya wanna do."

Emmylou smirked at the idea of an all night practice, "I think I like the sound of 'at. As much as I love a good work out, I think we could find a better way to spend our time together, course 'at could be a work out of it's own right?"

In response to the new Godzilla movie, the makers of Gamera have every intent on making a new Gamera film to celebrate the anniversary of the series that spawned to answer the question, "What if Godzilla were a turtle?"

The New Godzilla: Mutos?

So having watched the new Godzilla movie this Thursday I've had 3 days to stew on it without really talking about it with anyone else or reading any reviews. Now that I've allowed my thoughts to come to a head without too much outside influence I have this to say; 

At first I had a few things I wanted to talk about in reference to this movie, such as particular actors or the strange way certain scenes were shot and it was in a nice list format, very professional looking and boring however I have a far more pressing question I'd like to ask to all those following me who have also seen this movie...

Am I the only one who wanted the Muto's to win? 

I mean not even in a funny, joking way. Nothing the Mutos ever do in this movie could be considered malicious. They search for food and search for a mate through out the entire film. They only hurt people accidentally for the most part, either due to the EMP field, stepping on someone, or killing people because they don't understand there are humans inside the giant submarine full of food. They are called parasites but unless I misunderstood the Film they eat the one thing that we as humans haven't found a way to get rid of yet, radiation.

Radioactive waste is a serious problem that we as a human race have solved by hiding it out of sight, and when we find a creature that could potentially deal with the issue our first instinct is "Gaaah! Kill it!" 

I know a lot of people die at the Mutos hands, but at the same time, do they? Do they really? I feel like a majority of the deaths attributed to the Mutos is the result of fighter jets crashing when they hit the monsters EMP field. Which I think that's about 75% our fault and only 25% theirs. 

When Muto 1 and Muto 2 actually meet up in the movie, I find myself surprisingly touched. I never thought I could feel so much attachment to a mated pair of killer monsters, but these two literally seem only interested in loving each other and raising a family, it's just unfortunate we are caught underfoot during the process. They nuzzle each other tenderly, fight together to protect their young, and when the brood get's scorched Muto 2 let's out a roar that was truly heart breaking and then goes on a quest for revenge that I felt was totally called for. 

When Muto 2, aka Mommy Muto finally dies at the hands of Godzilla what was no doubt meant to be the ultimate badass moment for the giant lizard I was mortified absolutely horrified at the tragedy that was the death of a critter who wanted nothing more than to eat our radiation and raise her babies. 

Maybe I just have a soft spot for Critters, but if not, if you too found yourself rooting for the newly wed Mutos like this post. Let me know I'm not the only sicko who thought they were more human that whatever Ford and his wife were supposed to be. 

Also. I demand Fan art of the Mutos together. They are, in my opinion, a romantic couple and they should be treated as such!

She’d gone quiet, looking down, chewing on the inside of her cheeks. The question was… oddly poignant. It was, after all, what she was currently doing; she was fighting, right now, as she’d been for the last twelve years of her life… in a situation that sounded nearly exactly like that. 

"I would fight back, tooth and nail. There is nothing of greater value to me than my free will… and my right to do whatever I please with it."

  Such a sympathetic creature he was— he had an eye for body language, reading simple signals and in turn experiencing a range of reactions, all from the way she carried herself. His mind was an honest one, straight-forward, passionate, warm. It was the kind of mental impression she didn’t often encounter in the city— no, Gotham was a mire of minds that were always moving too quickly, and often all along the same little road. Like mice in a cage, always running the same path over and over, never looking up to the person next to them to notice anything. 

He was quite different. Even as an older man, his eyes were awake, alert, and his mind similarly so, ablaze with curiosity, but also polite restraint. There was no haste in his process, no malice, and while no mind was devoid of shadows, his were minimal at best.

A pleasing enough impression, an a firm shake to boot. 

A smile graced her face as she let go of his hand. “Enoch.” She corrected herself, nodding. “… I know the feeling. Most of the people I meet are my patients, and they’re rarely happy to know me. The burden of doing unsavory work, I suppose… but someone has to get their hands dirty for the good of the rest of us, no?”

Enoch was quite glad he had somehow managed to work a smile, no matter how slight, out of the woman with his earlier statement. He could not say what exactly he had said that would bring a smile to her, but at least it let him know she was willing to overlook his overly forward and direct approach in initiating the conversation. 

"Don't ever take that too personally," He said in reference to her comment about her patients rarely finding joy in her company, "Folks don't know what's best for 'em more often than not. If yer patients are that ungrateful than I'd be inclined to offer my thanks in their behalf, anyone with an air of professionalism as profound as yours surely does good work."

That being said Farmer Brown didn't exactly know what she was a doctor of, he'd work his way up to that. If she felt like telling him then he would know, until then he would avoid directly asking the question and do his best to keep from putting his foot in his mouth a second time.

Roxy could shake hands tight, but Emmylou’s grip was one of the hardest. She winced slightly and waved her wrist once Emmylou let go. “Got some grip on you, that’s for certain” she said with a chuckle. At least she didn’t break her hand. A stunt woman could get hurt, but Roxy still wanted to move around and not be confined to a bed.

"The Iceberg Lounge was alright, before the owner thought I was a liability. I was doing him a few jobs before he wanted to clip my wings. But no one clips my wings when flying is the most fun I can ever have. So I’m doing my own ventures. Bit slow, I may not make a lot of cash, but I enjoy the people who aren’t attempting to wipe me out."

But it was life in Gotham and it added to the excitement. She wasn’t bitter. She just found it…fun.

Emmylou took a quick swing of her drink as she listened to Roxy. She didn't need Roxy to tell her she had a strong grip she knew it all too well. Even with her father's enhancements that just made it easier to build her strength, the actual act of getting as strong as she was now still too years of back breaking labor. She had control though, and that was what was important.

"Reckon it's hard to find anyone ya can trust these days huh?" She muttered, "was hopin' I could find work here myself, but now I see I'ma barkin' up the wrong tree. Wouldn't trust most of these pole cats far as I could throw'em."

"Good ol’ Mr. Daniels, huh? He’s not bad. I usually like him with some coke for some carbonation. Course, I don’t mind sucking back some stale ales or something strong." It often depended on the crowd. With Pengy’s people, she’d have to do more ‘colorful’ drinks that wouldn’t have a lot of alcohol. Here with people like the rough, hands on people, Roxy could let loose and have fun.

"Brown…Oh yeaaaah" Roxy said snapping her fingers. "The one with the big animals. I was in prison when that happened but woo boy, I wish I could have ridden one of those things." She wasn’t interested in fighting or eating those heavily mutated animals. No, Roxy would find fun in attempting to ride that thing like a bucking bronco.

"Roxy Rocket. Pleasure to meet you Emmylou."

Emmylou offered her hand to shake Roxy's at the introduction. Her grip was much tighter than she meant for it to be, but that was her father's doing really. Even if it didn't show, all that gene manipulation made her strong as an ox, and twice as tough. 

"Oh yeah, I 'member hearin' bout you. Rode 'at Rocket 'round like ya thought ya were Slim Pickens." She was caught by the bat too, just like her and Farmer Brown were, the difference being that despite her unusual MO it was still just common thievery, Farmer Brown's crimes were a little more serious though. Another major difference, unbeknownst to Emmyou was that she might not have shared Enoch's new found hatred for the batman.

"Good ta meet ya ma'am in person. Wouldn't a thought ya'd be here, heard ya had a regular hangout with that Icelounge place." apparently Emmylou didn't know enough about Roxy's situation to have heard about the fall out between her and Penguin.

His consideration was rewarded with a cock of the head and a nod, taking his hand for a firm shake. No ill intent, no offence meant, none taken. He seemed a very reasonable man, if curious. A polite smile was added. It was noticeable in her manner; the fact that every thing she did was punctuated as if practiced a thousand and one times in the mirror, steps of a well-choreographed dance. Cold exterior, walls a mile high, guard always up— that was her in a nut shell. 

"It’s fine, Mr. Brown." She assured before introducing herself in return. "Aristel Kiebeth, at your service. Pleased to make your acquaintance."

He chuckled softly, “Forgive me, didn’t mean to laugh in your face ma’am, jus’ been a while since anyone’s been pleased to make my acquaintance…only got myself to blame for that I guess.”

Farmer Brown saw the practiced, calculated, and measured response. Hardly how two human beings should speak to each other in his opinion. Of course he was raised differently then that. It wasn’t the most formal and proper raising he’d received but he was taught that all that stuff would fall in line so long as he was warm, respectful, and caring. The human condition wasn’t about predetermined responses to interactions; it was about the interaction itself, the development and growth as a whole.

While he wasn’t offended by such a response he thought it odd. It made him wonder what happened to this woman to make her build these walls around her. It seemed unlikely that he’d ever know, her solitary nature was evident, prying was rude and all it would accomplish would be to insult her further and that most certainly was not his goal.

He still cared though. It was who he was. Farmer Brown was the man who wanted to solve a worldwide problem and he was dubbed a monster for his approach to it. It wasn’t because he was cold or heartless that he turned upon his own city, it was out of heartbreak. He felt betrayed and scorned and the plans that stemmed from that emotion reflected his pain in the measure of their brutality. Passion was part of the human condition, and it was responsible for just as much evil as good in the world.

His concern for her was genuine and yet he tried to bury it and keep it from showing as he returned her handshake with a firm grip of his own, motioning to her as he slowly put his hat back on, “It’s a pleasure Ms. Kiebeth, but ya’ll can just call me Enoch, no reason to be so formal.”

The girl was big. She looked strong and was almost a giant. She was easily one of the tallest people Roxy had ever seen. She wasn’t a flagpole or anything of the sort. She could probably take care of herself just fine. IN a place like the Stacked Deck, you had to show your muscle and show you could throw your weight around so no one bothered you too much.

Her eyes were fixed on the girl as she made her way to the counter. She didn’t figure she’d want some flowery drink. There was hardly any of that here. The redhead couldn’t help but grin that she ordered something strong and it was Whiskey to boot. She was liking this girl. Turning to face her, she chugged down some of her drink before setting it on the counter.

"Any particular whiskey you’re going to with?" she asked the tall blonde. "I’ve seen you in the news before, right?"

Emmylou tilted her head as she turned to face the older woman next to her. She gave a bright smile as she motioned to the glass right as the bartender sat it on the bar top and started to fill it up, "Jus' 'bout any Tennessee Whiskey'll do for me. I prefer Jack, far as brands go iffin' that's whatcha mean." 

She scanned the redhead over carefully one quick time. She might not have had quite the same rough and tumble build that Emmylou possessed but she was no push over that was for sure. Whatever she did for a living it was definitely a high octane line of work. The woman looked terribly familiar to Emmylou as well but she couldn't quite place where she'd seen her before. Her thought process was interrupted though when she asked the second question and she blinked before grinning.

"What? Oh, I guess ya might have. Names Emmylou Brown, me and my Pa got in a little trouble few months back." she shrugged as if it was just a small offense and not an attempt to feed Gotham's entire population to giant mantis monsters.
