We’re on our last day of this year’s summer event. At the moment, it’s a little past ten in the evening in my part of the world, so I decided that I’ll leave the Collection open overnight, and tomorrow—after I get up—I’ll close it for any further submissions.

Hello! What is the name of this July’s collection exactly? Ive been typing in Cornley Christmas (in July) Chaos 2026 into the collection part of ao3 and it isn’t appearing. Have I got the name wrong?

I saw that you figured it out, but just in case anyone else is having trouble, I thought I’d answer this ask. <3

Sometimes, the collection search bar doesn’t want to cooperate. If that happens, please copy and paste the name CornleyChristmasInJulyChaos2026 into it, and it should work. And if it doesn’t, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

I don’t know how, but it completely slipped my mind to write and post the weekly post yesterday… Sorry!

And I’m very pleased to tell you that there are already a few submissions to the collection, and there’s still plenty of time to make that number climb. So, if you want to give it a go, grab a prompt and write 100 words!

Thank you for running this; what a fun event! You say the quote prompt 'is required to be included in its entirety' - does that mean the quote needs to be included in every fic written for this event? I checked the FAQ, which called it an 'additional challenge', but I wasn't sure whether 'additional' meant 'optional' or a compulsory challenge on top of using one of the twelve prompts.

Hi, and thank you for reaching out and asking your questions! I want this event to be as fun as possible for everyone, so I’m here to answer.

Although it would be fun to have that line in every single fic—No, that’s not required. The quote prompt is a seperate prompt that you can choose to write for if you so wish, and the only difference is that it’s not quite as free as the others in terms of interpretation.

Hopefully that answered your question, but if it didn’t (I just woke up and don’t know how coherent I am at the moment) please let me know and I’ll try again. <3

Cornley Christmas (in July) Chaos 2026 — Prompt List

The time has come, and the prompts are ready to spark your imagination!

The AO3 Collection is up and open for your contributions, and will be revealed to read on July 13th.

If you’ve participated in previous CCC events, then you’ll notice that this one is a bit different than the others. In fact, we’re trying something new. After all, surely mini-events require mini-fics, right? So it’s Drabble Time!

100 words, no more, no less, and a tonne of fun.

Aside from the set word count, it works much like the other events. The 12 Prompts are open for interpretation, so you don’t actually have to include them if you choose not to. You can combine prompts if you so wish, and you’re more than welcome to write multiple drabbles based on the same prompt.

The Quote Prompt, our old beloved, is required to be included in its entirety, without modification. The context, though—That’s up to you!

Summer Mini-Event Announcement

Back by (un)popular demand, Cornley Christmas (in July) Chaos mini-event (2026 edition) is on the horizon!

But this isn’t your regular CCC challenge. No, no! This time — Considering it’s a mini-event — Let’s keep it exactly that; mini!

In other words, it’s Drabble Time!

”What’s a drabble,” I hear you ask, and I’ll tell you.

A drabble is a piece of fiction consisting of exactly 100 words. No more, no less. It’s considered a variation of flash/micro fiction and has been a popular staple in fanfiction for a very long time. It is also a great writing exercise and just plain fun to do.

Apart from the set length, which will be the first time for a CCC challenge, it will work much the same as previous events. A list of prompts will be released on the 13th of June, and the challenge will remain open for a month, with the AO3 Collection closing on 13th of July.
