a young, enchanting woman renowned for her beauty who has a plethora of suitors seeking her hand in marriage. she loves fine fashion, jewelry, and furnishings. servants and knights in the castle desperately seek her approval, but she prefers the company of the king and her older brother, the prince. despite her mother's efforts to instill proper manners in her daughter, the princess is wild.
the prince:
a young, strong man who spends much of his time training with the knights. he enjoys horseback riding, outdoor exploring, and swimming in the river just outside of the castle walls. as the heir to the throne, he is expected to find a princess to marry and to study to assume control of the kingdom, but is seemingly resistant to both, much to his father's dismay.
the knight:
a loyal, seasoned man who spends nearly all of his waking hours shielded by his chrome armor. he cares deeply about the royal family and has vowed to protect them with his life. an expert swordsman, he trains with the prince to help improve his skills. he is often tasked with guarding the princess and the queen, though the king is reluctant to have him so close to his wife and daughter.
the jester:
a skilled entertainer is a variety of fields, the jester would do anything for the attention and praise of the royal family. they have a large collection of costumes, props, and often takes requests for performances. they are bold, loud, and energetic which makes for a dynamic performance, but has gotten them in trouble.
the maid:
a meek young woman who works tirelessly to maintain the chambers of the royal family. she follows directions closely and prides herself on the quality and effort of her work, which ranges from cleaning and cooking to assisting the royal family with bathing and dressing.
the doctor:
a mysterious older man with questionable medical training, but a very good track record for healing ill patients. his methods are unorthodox, but he is committed to maintaining the health and safety of the royal family.
the alchemist:
despite the darkness that she surrounds herself with, she is a kind woman with a vast knowledge of chemicals, herbs, potions, and the supernatural. she is often works with the doctor to heal injuries and sicknesses, but also conducts seances, reads fortunes, and lends books from her large collection. perhaps she has some knowledge about the mystical happenings outside of the kingdom walls.
the bandit:
with a long history of crimes ranging from vandalism to murder, the bandit should be locked away in the dungeon of the castle, if not executed. the sly and cunning bandit has evaded the royal guards since his most recent crime. some think he fled the kingdom, but others believe he still resides near the castle.
the peasant:
a young woman who, despite her social status, has caught the attention of the royal family. the daughter of a baker, she often delivers breads, treats, and other gifts to the castle in exchange for benefits for her father's business.
the priest:
the religious advisor to the royal family. works with the kind to keep the kingdom in line with their religion. he takes confession from each member of the royal court and is sworn to secrecy. nothing leaves the chapel walls.
the groundskeeper:
an older, gentle man who works tirelessly to maintain the grounds of the castle. he rises with the sun and sleeps when it sets. he spends most of his days doing manual labor such as chopping wood, trimming hedges, maintaining the horse stables, and any construction the king requests. when he has the time, he arranges beautiful bouquets of flowers picked fresh from the castle's garden for the queen and princess.
