               𝐇𝐞   𝐰𝐚𝐬   𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠   𝐭𝐨   𝐬𝐞𝐞   her,      as   much   as   his   own   expectations   and   mind   told   him   to   not   be   disheartened   if   she   didn’t   show   up,      the   obvious   glow   to   his   face   and   extra   bounce   to   his   steps   gives   away   his   excitement   and   joy   to   see   the   pink   clad   girl   arrive   as   he   waves   back   and   trots   forward   to   greet   her.         Her   smile   makes   his   stomach   flutter,      though   it   doesn’t   stop   his   own   from   growing   wide   uncontrollably,      and,      awkwardly   as   always,      he   gives   a   short   bow   of   his   head   and   begins   to   scratch   at   his   nape.         This   is   not   the   first,      nor   will   it   be   the   last,      that   he   gets   so   flustered   when   she’s   around.         But   a   boy   can   be   happy   about   getting   to   see   his   girlfriend   on   his   birthday,      can’t   he?

                              “   Kairi!   You   made   it,   I’m   so   glad.   ”               Green   eyes   glance   down   at   the   gift   in   her   hands.               “   Oh,   thank   you,   you   didn’t   have   to   get—   ”               Words   left   unfinished,      the   soft   feel   of   her   kiss   an   enchantment   to   bring   him   into   silence   with   a   gasp   barely   audible,      even   his   mind   momentarily   shuts   off   where   his   senses   can   only   pick   up   on   her   touch,      her   scent.         It   was   only   thanks   to   instinct   that   Izuku   manages   to   react   at   all,      answer   to   her   lips   with   a   small   hum   before   she   pulls   away.         Mouth   parts,      surprised,      the   blush   steadily   getting   brighter   to   color   his   entire   face.         He   didn’t   even   notice   how   she   got   the   present   into   his   hands   but   his   body   can   freeze   enough   to   where   they   can   stack   just   about   anything   on   his   head   and   he’d   be   none   the   wiser.

               Steadying   his   heart,      Izuku   continues   to   stumble   over   his   words   of   gratitude,      bowing   his   head   again   and   clutching   the   gift   to   his   chest.         He   laughs   lightly,      knowing   Katsuki   would   tell   him   to   stop   being   so   nervous      —      this   is   not   the   first   or   last   kiss   either,      but   a   boy   can   gush   at   the   affection   his   girlfriend   brings,      can’t   he?         Izuku   licks   his   lips,      breathing   in   and   out   slowly,      the   next   phrase   in   a   rushed   whisper.               “   Um,   can   I…   Can   I   kiss   you   back?   ”

oof was just hit with the reminder of riku when kairi died in kh3. we saw sora's reaction up and center, but i think riku's in the moment is equally telling. my guy was frozen in place, like he's struggling to process what he even just witnessed, that kairi's just gone now. mind you this is the same guy who reacts at like the speed of sound to shield her from danger in kh2 so if xehanort hadn't caught him off guard you bet he'd have pretty much reacted the same way, the way he did react when you just hear the rage in his voice as he finally gets a hold of himself and goes after xehanort, but to no avail.

Pretty sure this is the first ask I've received asking me to elaborate on what I think about a ship so allow me to proceed to talk a bunch.

First and foremost allow me to use my megaphone and announce once again that Kairi is demiromantic.

Now then, Kairi ( on my blog at least ) has a lot of complicated feelings about Namine in general. They're more so centered on the circumstances surrounding the two of them, and that, coupled with how Namine canonically views herself in comparison to Kairi, results in a dynamic very different and unique from the one Sora and Roxas share.

With Namikai itself, I like it but I don't exactly ship Namine and Kairi in a romantic sense, if that makes sense ? Since I have always viewed their relationship as being parts of a whole. There’s so much that can be said from that kind of a connection.

[ I kept writing way too much about it so I'm gonna add it as a separate post ]. TL;DR. It's hard for Kairi to put this irrevocably close connection - both girls once being the same person but not anymore and how it subsequently affected the both of them - into words so her referring to Namine as a little sister is simply what she thinks is the best stand-in to express what she feels, though it's not an accurate reflection. You could spin this connection in a romantic ship from that angle pretty easily, but it's typically not the first road my mind speeds down when I think of these two. I actually have a verse where it was Kairi called to Castle Oblivion instead by Namine. Unlike with Sora, Namine doesn't let her other half go, and so they live in CO. Interesting character exploration but I don't know if you could immediately label that ship material though. All in all, yes but I heavily lean towards the platonic end of the spectrum instead of the romantic end. Namixi is the one I'd definitely be more inclined to ship romantically way more often, as these two are a very good pair. Kairi would definitely like to slot herself as the big sister type to both of them, a pillar of encouragement there to support them all the way, happy about how cute these two look together and how much joy they seem to find in one another.

Namikai would be the ‘intense emotionally charged’ platonic ship for me while Namixi is that ‘soft serve treat yourself’ romantic relationship. One isn’t lesser than the other and I think both are great in equal measure.

So after reading this you can say my ship preference between is... surprise ?? Option 3, Kairi and Xion !

Yeah, this is one I’m a sucker for. Kaixi. The dark horse, the least popular of the three ships probably but I don’t care because it’s my favorite and easily the romantic ship I’d go to bat for, full stop. Sorry, not sorry.

         He let out a tired sounding sigh, resisting his initial urge to snap back with a sarcastic ‘yeah, no shit.’ It wasn’t her fault the Reaper’s Game was named the way it was, though, so any frustration towards her would be pretty misguided.

“Yeah, well, it didn’t feel too much like a game, either. None of us were playing for the fun of it. Well… most of us weren’t, anyway.” Joshua, on the other hand… “But we didn’t have a choice.”

         The implication of some deriving enjoyment rested between those words, catching her ears, knitting brows. Fingers flexed, index and thumb rising to grip her chin. They existed she supposed, thrill seekers who thrived on challenges, though betting your existence being erased ? Seemed a bit much. At least, some small comfort could be found knowing Neku fell outside of this category.

         ❝ I hope there's no chance of you getting pulled into another one. ❞ Unsure she may be of the exact requirements to be granted an exclusive ticket into the game, knowing such things wasn’t needed to pray it never happened again. ❝ The last thing you’d want is to be pulled back into something when you thought it was over and done with. ❞

         Experience spoke for her, adding on the second statement almost like an unconscious afterthought, the list of moments when she too believed the troubles / unknown danger were finally over pulled up in the back of her mind like a unpleasant memoir to be perused.

         Hands clapped together, in hopes of dispelling the somber air threatening to creep over her. It didn’t matter that lips snagged on the thought, shifting this way and that, confused on which expression to settle on, before being pulled into a relieved smile. Happiness could still be found in others being safe and sound. ❝ My worry was a little secondhand since I first heard about you and this situation from someone else, but  I’m really glad you seem to be okay now. ❞
