A Queer Writer In Need

Hi, everyone.

I recently received an award for a queer writing fellowship but it unfortunately only covers 30% of the costs. For the remainder, I have to somehow raise around $2,000 to cover my tuition, housing, food, and a plane ticket. But I’ve recently become unemployed and am afraid I will likely have to deny the award because I simply don’t have the funds.

I’m a trans FTM from rural Oklahoma. This type of opportunities do not exist out here. It would be a dream come true to get to be part of this.

I’ve been listening to the audiobook Dungeon Born, and it’s premise is a really interesting take on Dungeons.

The idea is that dungeons aren’t just areas but living entities, created by a living ‘Dungeon Core’. The core absorbs the materials and energy of things in the dungeon and can then use energy it has to recreate or modify those things.

This includes creatures, which is how a dungeon creates mobs, and leads to an interesting relationship where the dungeon gives loot to sway adventurers to try their luck, and those that die feed the dungeon gear and essence (energy the dungeon uses for almost everything), which allows the dungeon to grow, create stronger mobs, and give better loot, which incentivized other adventurers to come.

I have found the book to be really cool so I would advise reading it if this sounds interesting, and this concept of a ‘living dungeon’ is something that I think could be really cool for a TTRPG setting.
