“Horrific thought isn’t it.” Amanda said, sensing his dislike for her, despite having just met. A small smirk formed on her lips. “Now, whatever did I do to you to deserve your hostile attitude.”

"There is no hostile attitude, but rather a firm dislike, if you will...” the Grand Duke responds in a casual tone, gesturing for his guard to get his jacket.

Mary had never been one to see or hear the Grand Duke in person, but she had heard the rumors. She blinked up from her book at his shouts, she needed been to be told to know who it was. She looked to the poor soul and then back to him, before setting her book down and she stood up. He may be Grand Duke but still she was Queen and she had to help. “Your Royal Highness?” She asked walking over to him and bent her knees in a small curtsy. “Is there something the matter? Anything I may help with?”

At the sound of an unfamiliar, feminine voice, Cosimo turns around to face the source of it. “Your Majesty,” he greets showing the respect that her status alone commanded; if anything, he held no opinions about her person, for he cared nothing at all about a Scottish Queen, even if she was France’s Queen too now, having married his nephew. “Nothing you need to trouble yourself with, I assure you.” He tells her with a faint smile, gesturing for his guard to get him another glass of wine.

    the chinese princess gracefully walked in, glancing around with a small smile lightening her wonderful features she spotted the grand-duke, cosimo de medici; her smile grew slightly wider once he invited her over, seeing that he is also smiling only meant that he was happy to see her too; “it would be my greatest honor to accompany you for this delightful dinner your royal majesty;” the chinese princess tien meili said lightly, flashing her long eyelashes slowly as her gaze met his; the graceful woman walked right on the side of the handsome man and offered herself a comfortable place to sit; she.. accidentally leaned on him; “oh, i didn’t mean to;” tien said with a bright yet charming smile;

         Besides his child, she is the only other person he finds himself to be so fond of, her presence always a pleasant one; he finds her exotic beauty quite endearing, too, nothing like the dull English women or the idiotic French ones. Or even worse, the Scottish ones. and the sympathy seems to not be one sided. his smile grows when she accepts his invitation. “you may just call me Cosimo, my dearest...” he tells her, lifting her hand up to his lips to place a gentle kiss upon her knuckles. “I wished you would be one of the first people I would see upon returning...” he reveals in a soft tone, still holding her hand in his, gently but firmly.

Amanda watched him, raising an eyebrow at his glare that was aimed towards her. Giving a slight shrug, she looked towards where the servant had run off to. Looking towards him again, she spoke. “I suppose not.” She spoke, and looked him over trying to put a name to his face. He seemed somewhat familiar. “Though if it weren’t for servants you would have to do the dirty work yourself. Something which I’d rather not.”

He refrains from rolling his eyes at her, finds himself looking at her with an uninterested eye. “I think that’s they use. Their only use. To think of a world were servants, of some sort, do not exist is either...idyllic to some, but a very dull and stupid thought indeed.”

Amanda watched as he yelled at the servant, amusement clear in her face. Once the servant had hurried away, she looked to him, with a raised eyebrow. “Poor guy, what did he do to you?” 

The voice sounds awfully familiar, but foreign none the less; she bears the stench of the Neapolitan family, too. He glares towards her, though his expression changes to one of sarcasm as he turns to face her. “Must he do anything worth of mentioning? He is a disturbance enough as it is...” the Grand Duke responds in a matter of fact tone. Perhaps the Princess was in some idiotic bliss and ignorance regarding the bad blood between their families.

“You have five seconds to get out of my face, fool!” he half shouts at the person, infuriating with the outrageous display of behavior that they have been putting on for the past few moments ---and his patience is fragile, as it is commonly known by most at court. He scoffs. “And you would think that people do in fact learn in time...” He laughs, mockingly and sarcastically.

          It has been a few hours since he arrived back at the French court, after having spend a few months away at Florence he decided to return to the heart of politic intrigues. He is taking his dinner without any unpleasant interruptions, when his eyes fall on a familiar form; the Chine princess, Meili, walks in, and he looks at her, a small smile tugs on his lips. “Your Highness,” he addresses her, standing up a little to greet her. “Would you care to join me for dinner?” he inquiries, smiling still.

She smiled when she recognised the voice, her and the Duke did not always see eye to eye, but that was not unusual for her in the french court, and she would never deny that she enjoyed his company. “Call me simple, Your Grace, but I care more of the subject of an artwork, than I do for the technique.”

His initial thought is that she is not Italian, therefore her lack of interest more in depth regarding art, is excused. “It’s Your Royal Highness,” he corrects her in a tone that is softer than it usually is, for the Grand Duke is known for his temper and the intolerance he bears considering being misaddressed. “It looks more like a scenery in works to me...” He muses then, studying the painting.

The moment she reads the letter of her husband, her heart suck as it always did when Cosimo sends for her. She gulped, looked around her rooms before walking to her husband’s rooms. Her shoulders began to droop the closer she came to the doors. She stopped, her hand reaching out for the handles. She was shaking, and if Cosimo saw he would just laugh in her face.

She let out a breath straightened her shoulders again before opening the door and walked in. Hopefully this didn’t end with a bruise to her face or body.

When the door opens, he barely moves; only his eyes turn to look at her, acknowledge her presence in short. “Come in...” he instructs, gazing back towards the fireplace. He gets the impression that she is shaking like a leaf, but does not pay that any mind; the news he bears far too exciting for him to let anything and anyone spoil his heightening mood. He gestures for the servant to pour him some more wine, and a goblet for Ophelia too, without priory asking whether she wishes to drink with him or not.

Her visit to the artists room had been an unprompted one, she had meant to visit the library, eager to look further into some political texts that had been recommended to her. A splash of colour out of the corner of her eye had caught her attention, however, as she made her way past. 

Unable to resist she had ducked in. She now stood in front of an incomplete painting, her inability to recognise what it would be, along with her hatred for silence caused her to speak, risking annoying those wanting to enjoy in silence. “Whatever do you think this will be? I see nothing but paint.”

Though matters back home require his full and undivided attention, Cosimo manages to steal a moment to himself, hide away in the peace and silence of the artists room. Much like his cousin, he too was, a patron of art. Found something calming to observing beyond what meets the eye. He is studying a half finished piece of art when someone interrupts the peace and quiet. “Beautiful and precise strokes of one’s brush,” he points out, only half turning his head to look to the female speaker afterwards.

It is the event that the royal family has put together —mainly Catherine— to celebrate Christmas and France, but he feels in no particular festive mood. On the contrary, he feels rather agitated, annoyed —which is honestly nothing new to him, it is more like his default mood. Regardless of his previous argument with his trusted advisor, Dorian, he has come to an agreement with the Holy Roman Church, has reached his decision.

Without any further ado, Cosimo sends for his wife to be summoned to his office quarters, takes a seat before the fireplace, a glass of wine in hand as he waits. Thrilled about getting to finally telling her, to be finally free of her for he has come to loathe her in time.

taking a small work at the castle’s snowy grounds with a natural bright smile on her face, her peach lips and along with her dress matched the winter flowers of those now white from snow bushes; the young chinese princess gracefully took a hold of one cold flower and smelled it, its aroma was beyond good; she silently sighed and walked next to a tree where the snow was hardly hitting the ground; she lied on it, it was freezing outside but she did not care all that much, glancing at suns direction were making her face warmer, and watching the beautiful mountains from afar only drew old memories on her mind;

he is taking a walk through the gardens, given that the weather allows it. his eyes lay upon a familiar form and his smile hastens. his steps carry him towards the young chinese princess. “soaking up the warmth?” he asks in a tone that is light and warm, for right now he feels that perhaps being in her presence should prove effective for the bad mood he has been constantly finding himself in all these past days.

She just watched his hand and nodded, she turned and walked to the door opening it before she stopped and looked to him. “Will I see you at dinner, Cosimo?” She asked softly. “Is there any specific dress or color you would like me to wear?”

"No.” His response coming short, rushed. “I have a council meeting. Dine alone or at the dining hall; I have little care.”

She just stopped, mid turn and moved her eyes to her husband, the man she feared. “No Cosimo,” she whispered shaking her head. “Is there anything I can be of service to you?”

“Leave me,” he ordered, gesturing this his hand to add emphasis to the words. “I have no use for you.”

“No,” she whispered and shook her head. But what else could she say to this man and not upset him? She just nodded and turned to leave, knowing this conversation was over and she should leave before this ended up even worst.

“---good. if there is nothing else...” his eyes remain on her, an eyebrow aloof as he watches her, carefully.

She let out a breath when he finishes. She had thought this would be worst, the name and the godparent. She could live with both and maybe live her days happily. She just nodded and knew this wasn’t a fight she wanted to start. She smiled and nodded some more, pretending to be the happy and submissive wife he wanted her to be. “That is a lovely name, Cosimo, thank you. And yes Dorian I could not think of anyone more perfect for your son.” That hurt a little bit but she would not show it on her face. 

“have my choices displeased you?” he inquires, his head tilting to the side, an eyebrow raising, and his overall expression filled with sarcasm, mock interest. for he has no care whatsoever for her opinions, has little interest in whatever she has to tell him.
