It was raining. Leith’s hair stuck to his forehead, droplets running down his cheeks as he prepared himself for the night. The last shipment of food was put safe, and for all he knew Jonathan (one of his former friends) made sure of the plague of rats - gnawing onto everything they could set their teeth in. After lifting the last basket of fresh fruit, putting it on the counter for any night snacker, he yawned - his job was done for tonight. Swiping his brow, he stretched his back - snorting now the rain had given him a runny nose.
Waving the ladies a sweet goodbye - still gossiping about the other girls and whatnot - he packed his stuff, leaving his apron on one of the counters for tomorrow, knowing he would have to be around at breakfast time; yet not to work, but to eat. No longer did he have to work as a kitchen-boy, or a servant, for he was now the kingsguard; the task set on him by order of King Francis II himself. However, he would help around his friends any time they’d ask for him - rarely giving a damn for all those calling him insane. Leith wasn’t a show off. Now he’d become friends with the king, being one of his favorite guards, he remained all the same; or as Greer liked to call him: cheeky. All the same, for now he simply wanted to lay back and have a little drink; peeking for a fine bottle in the wine cellar.
