Melissa King was hired to work in the medical corp on base not to pilot a Jaeger.

The pilots would be big shot heroes fighting monsters and saving the world. Then they would drag their asses back to base and come get patched up by her.

That’s how it was supposed to go. That was the plan. But somehow instead of doing the patching, she is the one sitting in the patient’s chair, trying to stop a nose bleed after a particularly brutal neural handshake.

This was all Frank Langdon’s fault.

They had barely spent two hours with each other. She monitored training for the prospective pilots he was supposed to actually be considering. But by the end of the session, he was demanding they let her test, announcing to the entire floor;

“She’s my copilot.”

Literally my whole thing with Kingdon is that AS AN AUTISTIC WOMAN (who also works in healthcare 💅) the idea of crashing out and entering a morally complicated relationship with a complicated man is so attractive and interesting to me.

Mel has spent her whole life doing what’s “right” and “good”, even at personal cost to herself (ie taking on full time caregiving at a young age) so for her to date Frank (especially pre-divorce) would be a (in my opinion) much needed departure. In a their relationship way it would heal her as much it would heal him, as she would let lose and he would find structure- yk?
