WE ARE BACK FOR REAL THIS TIME ( as opposed to for fake ) . i've been playing guitar for about three weeks now! i had my first lesson today and my teacher was VERY impressed with how much i've learned on my own. i'll stick some playing below the cut

            . . . it's something that he desperately needed to hear, truly.      his relationship with his TARDIS has been a bit rocky in this lifetime, to say the least— with his unintentional negligence and ill - thought out actions even leading to the poor ship being entirely DESTROYED at one point. it's why he never complains much when he gets burned while fiddling with her console or flung to the floor by trying to input commands, because it's absolutely warranted. he's been quite the screw - up as of late! the repercussions of which have been wholly earned on his part. he'd never fault the old girl for being moody, annoyed and fed up.     and hearing something so kind from the one that means more than ANYTHING to him in this big wide universe and across all timestreams has his hearts skipping some beats, and renders the man who has been known to have all the correct words at his disposal utterly speechless for a good moment as he just . . . stares stupidly; slightly open - mouthed as he beholds the one who's been with him through it ALL.

          ❝ . . . a— y— ahem, uhm . . . yes, you too. you . . . thank you. thank you so much. ❞    he doesn't even have it in him to be frustrated at the way his voice cracks as he speaks. it's a level of vulnerability she may not have been able to get from the incarnations of himself that came prior, or the next few that immediately follow. the doctor; looking young and hapless, somewhat embarrassed, his fair features a shade of pink as he struggles to articulate so much . . . yet manages to say so little. all he can do is give that crooked smile of his and stare down at the ground, rocking a bit on his heels.    ❝ that . . . means more to me than you know. you mean more to me than you know. ❞

     he's the happiest he's been in a while. and if it does him good to hear it— so he knows it will for her too.

     he has to take a moment to think of his response, expression and voice light despite the way that his brows are furrowed. CAUTIOUSLY optimistic, indeed!      because he usually does try to see the good in people and the universe as a greater whole— but it has been seen where that gets him no?      locked down, shut up, in hot waters with the powers that be on varying planets. he swears, back in the day he used to be able to come and go between nebulae as a wayfaring wanderer and sightseer at his leisure . . . the interstellar social climate has changed so much over the past  centuries, not too unlike how times change on earth itself. every other day he's being drawn into some planet or another's issues or is caught up in some sort of dispute or misunderstanding, and it can really wear one down once it occurs as incessantly as it does. any dose of wariness that he elects to apply to situations is exceptionally warranted with the way things have been going.

          ❝ quite nice, yes. ❞    his expression softens into a small smile as he affixes his hazel gaze on his young companion.    ❝ perhaps a day of peace and wonderful views await us beyond these doors, no? free of arrests, lacking detective work, no nonsense— maybe for once we've landed somewhere where things can simply go as planned. ❞    goodness, it sounds like INCREDIBLY wishful thinking when he verbalizes it.

     UNLIKELY! the TARDIS has her reasons for dropping him where she does, but it always works out for the greater good in the end and was meant to happen. even if it can be somewhat tiring and emotionally taxing to all involved, even the doctor himself— however unlikely it is for him to admit such a thing.
