Faeries are seen through the heart, not through the eyes. Remember that faeries inhabit the interior of the earth and the interior of all things, so look, in the first place, in the interior of yourself.

“The Retriever” by Brian Froud
You meant your golf ball to go straight down the middle, yet somehow it veered into unknown terrain. Not to worry. This watchful faery has it safe in hand.
We all occasionally throw over precious hopes and dreams into the universe, where they seem to disappear without response. The Retriever is holding onto them in what he calls the Lost Property Office of Unclaimed Wishes. Sometimes our purposes and plans do not follow the course we want them to take but are held instead in safekeeping until the time for them is right. Trust in the universe, and in this faery who has your best interests at heart- but don’t forget your claim ticket, or your dreams may be lost forever.

“The Gloominous Doom” by Brian Froud
Let me introduce an old friend of mine. In the dark depths of depression, the Gloominous Doom despairs and moans, “I Can’t do it,” slump shouldered, his wings leaking drips of light. He holds the globe of clear thinking unexamined behind him. The globe contains all his lost hopes, turned heavy with his pessimism. “It’s too late now,” he sighs wearily. “It’s all behind me now.”
Ask him to toss that hope forward, where it becomes a perfect sphere. Step into it, protected and secure in the light of clarity- and the shuffling step of the Gloominous Doom becomes the dances of the Luminous Loon.
