bucky didn’t sleep much. whether it was a side effect of discomfort that he often felt whenever he found himself totally displaced in an unfamiliar setting or just the unkind FLASHBACKS that often occurred whenever he did sleep, he settled on a mix. he never could stop his mind from racing; from thinking about the bloodier bits of his past. the regiments he had done both in the past and present were supposed to be for his life before all of this but, he only ever seemed to remember THE WINTER SOLDIER, no matter what it was he did. suffice it to say, he was already awake when he heard the knock on his door. he, truthfully, expected it to be steve but, when he saw the welcomed sight of wanda maximoff, he stepped aside so she could come inside if she so wished. “hey – you look a little, i don’t know. panicked? everything okay ?” he wondered if he should’ve just kept silent until she was ready to speak but, he was WORRIED. he didn’t think wanda would visit him in the middle of the night, let alone really visit at all. not that he wasn’t happy to see her. 

                           ‘  im  sorry  its  so  late,  i  just-  i  didnt  know  who  else  go  too.  ‘   wanda  spoke  when  she  walked  into  this  apartment,  pulling  the  note  out  of  her  jacket  and  held  it  out to  him.  ‘  i  got  that  this  morning,  i  wasnt  going  to  say  anything  because  i  dont  agree   with  anything  in  it.  but  i  had  a  nightmare  and  the  next  thing  i  knew  i  was  here.  ‘   she  didnt  care  what  the  letter  said,  she  knew  that  someone  was  trying  to  ruffle  her  feathers  so  to  speak.  ‘  i  didnt  want  to  go  to  steve  because  i  know  he  would  want  me  to  do  it.  but  it  wasnt  his  fault  that  thanos  came  out  of  no  where,  and  i  know  he  was  on  the  run  just  like  you  do.  ‘  wanda  knew  she  was  dropping  a  lot  on  him.   and  she  didnt  want  to  drag  him  into  her  chaos,  but  he  gave  her  feel  something  she  couldnt  quiet  describe.  maybe  it  was  of  safe  something  she  hadnt  felt  since  she  lost  her  brother.  but  didnt  want  to  say  anything  about  it  because  she  didnt  quite  know  how  to  explain  it.  plus  she  would  definitely  sound  crazy.  ‘  if  anything  it  was  my  fault  that  we  had  to  go  on  the  run  in  the  first  place.  if  i  hadnt  blown  up  that  building  in  lagos  the  accords  wouldnt  have  been  pushed.  ‘  she  knew  that  there  was  a  separate  issue  between  tony  and  steve.  but  the  ultimate  result  of  why  most  of  them  ended  up  cells  and  then  on  the  run  was  due  to  her.

“yeah, i know the feeling. i lived in romania for a while. small town, everyone was really welcoming and i had this routine i followed every day. but, i just couldn’t shake it. which, i’m not telling you that to instill you with ANXIETY. just an example.” bucky didn’t really like talking. in fact, he didn’t usually talk this much in general. but, he wanted wanda to feel comfortable and he knew if he didn’t at least TRY, he wouldn’t be able to figure out how to do that. “cool. he’ll probably love you, he just needs to sniff you and that’ll be that.” he was a giant as far as dogs went but, lovable for the most part. he’d lucked out there, at least. once they’d reached his apartment, he opened the door to let her inside. he instinctively took hold of his dog’s collar in an effort to make sure he didn’t knock her over but, once things seemed just peachy between them, he let go. door closed behind them, he glanced over at her. “feel free to sit wherever, do you want me to grab you something to drink ?” he inquired as he gestured toward the living room area, though there was also the kitchen area as well. once they were settled, he opted to try to figure out how to word what exactly he remembered about the THANOS INCIDENT. “there wasn’t a lot we could’ve done. you know that, right ? the outcome wasn’t your fault.”

                    ‘  i  mean  it  could  be  worse  we  could  be  on  the  run  again.  ‘  his  words  didnt  give  her  any  feelings  of  anxiety  she  already  didnt  have.  when  they  got  to  his  door  and  the  dog  came  out  wanda  gave it  a  smile  before  reaching  her  hand  out  so  it  could  sniff  her.  it  was  a  big  dog,  but  nothing  that  she  couldnt  handle.  wanda  gave  bucky  a  smile  and  a  nod  when  he  told  her  to  sit  wherever.  but  shook  her  head  when  he  offered  her  a  drink.  ‘  no  thats  okay  thank  you  though.  ‘  wanda  said  as  she  sat  down  on  his  couch.  when  they  were  settled  in  and  talking  about  the  incident,  wanda  had  heard  his  words  come  from  steve  at  one  point  but  it  didnt  change  the  feelings  around  it.  looking  down  at  her  hands  thinking  of  what   ‘  thank  you  for  saying  that  but,  i  was  the  last  one  he  went  head  to  head  with.  if  my  magic  was  a  little  bit  stronger  i  could  have  stopped  him  or  give  you  guys  more  time.  ‘   her  words  were  soft  and  she  didnt  want  to  meet  the  others  eyes.  wanda  knew  he  was  only  trying  to  help  but  anytime  she  had  let  anyone  in  they  had  gotten  hurt  or  killed.  and  she  didnt  want  that  for  bucky.  just  because  wandas  life  attracted  chaos  didnt  mean  she  had  to  subject  him  to  it.

caroline audibly gasped at the sight. it seemed like slow motion, the way the coffee cup slipped from the brunette’s hands and before she knew it, it was on the ground. at least neither seemed to be COVERED in coffee. that would’ve been awful, especially since she was wearing her favorite dress and had spent time on her hair that morning. “oh my god.” her hand touched her own chest as she looked down and then back at her. “that was devasting to watch. if you promise not to drink and walk again, you could always tag along with me, i was just about to get an iced coffee. it’ll be on me !”

                              kate  looked  at  the  coffee  with  a  look  of  disappoinment  for  a  moment  before  the  other  had  asked  if  she  wanted  to  tag  alone.  knowing  that  she  wouldnt  get  through  the  rest  of  the  day  without  it.  kate  looked  over  at  the  girl  and  gave  her  a  nod.  ‘  sure   why   not.  ‘  kate  said  dusting  off  her  pants  from  the  when  she  was  on  the  ground.

“Didn’t see a thing. Can I get you another coffee?” A faint smile lingered on her lips as she noticed the empty coffee cup, and the lid right in front of powder blue heels. “Just because I didn’t see anything, doesn’t mean I can’t offer to get you another, right? No laws against that, is there?” Fleur teased, blue hues bright in amusement before she was bending down to pick up the empty plastic cup and threw it in the trash can next to her.

                        kate  looked  at  the  coffee  cup  for  a  moment  before  she  pulled  herself  up  off  the  ground.  when  the  other  asked  about  getting  her  a  new  one,  kate  gave  the  other  a  shy  smile  and  a  nod.  besides  kate  bishop  doesnt  turn  down  free  coffee.  ‘  sure  why  not.  im  kate  by  the  way.  ‘

                          at  first  wanda  wasnt  going  to  say  anything  about  the  note  to  anyone.  she  had  been  through  worse  then  some  anonmous  note.  besides  she  didnt  agree  with  anything  the  note  said,  steve  hadnt  been  on  vacation.  in  fact  it  was  wandas  fault  that  the  accords  was  ever  actually  needed.  and  wanda  hadnt  built  anything  for  herself,  she  felt  like  her  life  was  falling  apart  since  she  lost  her  brother.  so  to  her  it  was  a  joke.  but  that  night  she  woke  up  from  a  nightmare, sitting  in  her  bed  she  pulled  her  knees  up  to  her  chest  breathing  heavy  for  a  few  moments  before  getting  out  of  bed  and  slipping  on  some  slippers.  as  wanda  was  leaving  her  apartment  she  put  the  note  in  her  pocket.  but  before  she  even  knew  it  her  feet  was  carrying  her  to  his  house.  before  she  even  knew  it  she  was  in  front  of  buckys  door.  pulling  her  hand  up  to  his  door  about  to  knock  but  hesitating  for  a  second,  it  was  the  middle  of  the  night  and  he  didnt  even  know  her  that  well,  why  would  he  want  her  showing  up  at  his  doorstep.  before  wanda  could  talk  herself  out  of  it,  she  knocked  on  his  door.  butterflies  and  knots  twisted  in  her  stomach  as  she  waited  for  him  to  come  to  the  door.  //  @runningtm​

oh, wanda, darling. i have something special in mind for you. it seems like a certain avenger was taking a vacation prior to thanos's arrival on earth. you ever think about how if *steve* would have been at the avenger's compound, maybe thanos could have been detected earlier? yeah, on the run, we get it, but after all, hindsight is 20/20. you wouldn't have lost EVERYTHING you built for yourself, from nothing. *blame steve for thanos.* you have three days. wouldn't want you outside posts, right?

                       katniss  had  been  on  the  way  home  from  the  gym  when   her  stomach  started  to  rumble.  deciding  getting  some  food  would  be  best  to  turned  the  corner  quickly  and  walked  right  into  someone.  katniss’s  first  reaction  was  to  reach  out  and  grab  the  other  so  they  dont  fall.  ‘  im  sorry  about  that,  i  wasnt  looking  at  my  surroundings.  ‘  //  @theirtroubles​

“weird though, isn’t it ? it’s so peaceful here.” he had been thinking that ever since he arrived in town almost two years ago. no one followed him, he rarely if ever heard anything that resembled gunshots. no explosions, no news reports about anything horrific. it was just a town with some odd history and a few rumors. once they maneuvered their way out of the crowd, bucky turned to look over at wanda. “my apartment isn’t too far from here. would you be okay with that ?” otherwise, he would come up with something else. but, he didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable, either so the choice felt right. “i have a dog, too, i don’t know if you’re okay with that.” he couldn’t think of much else. other than the dog, his apartment was kept mostly to the bare minimum. a side effect of always being ready to run. “i thought it might be easier, though, if we talked somewhere private.” he had no idea why he felt so NERVOUS all of a sudden but, if there was even the slightest possibility that someone might be listening, he had to be cautious.

                  ‘  yeah,  part  of  me  loves  it.  but  the  other  cant  help  but  get  knots  in  my  stomach  about  it.  ‘   wanda  had  to  agree  the  silence  gave  her  an  underlying  feeling  of  dread.  all  good  things  came  to  an  end  sooner  or  later  and  for  her  it  was  usually  sooner  rather  then  later.  wanda  gave  him  a  simple  nod  at  his  question.  ‘  thats  fine.  i  dont  mind,  plus  i  love  dogs.  ‘   wanda  had  considered  getting  a  pet  but   she  never  got  around  to  actually  doing  it.  ‘  i  definitely  rather  that  then  crowed  areas.  ‘   since  she  went  on  the  run  the  idea  of  even  being  in  public  for  too  long  worried  her.  wanda  had  been  glad  for  the  mini  break  from  the  life  that  came  with  powers,  but  since  she  got  her   a  piece  of  her  was  waiting  for  the  other  foot  to  drop  and  she  didnt  know   how  she  would  feel  or  react  to  it.

                          kate  couldnt  help  but  smile  after  she  got  the  first  taste  of  her  coffee,  she  had  been  up  most  of  the  night  working  on  a  lead  that  came  up  with  nothing.  but  of  course  she  was  to  busy  thinking  about  the  coffee  and  not  what  was  in  front  of  her  so  as  soon  she  stepped  out  of  the  cafe  she  tripped  and  her  coffee  went  flying  to  the  ground.  ‘  no!  ‘  kate  said  sadly  before  looking  around  and  spotting  someone,  ‘  you  didnt  see  anything.  ‘

natasha raised an eyebrow at the younger girl. the government bodies knew exactly what each one looked like including their enemies as well. there would be plenty of people that would throw them into a prison for the reward. “doesn’t that seem a little strange to you?” before shaking her head, “i was under the impression that i was meeting up with you and the others but it seems i am missing a lot according to steve,”

                  that  was  the  running  theme  the  longer  wanda  was  here,  each  day  something  stranger  came  to  light.  but  she  couldnt  do  anything  about  it,  especially  since  she  just  woke  up  here.  ‘  i  mean  yeah  it  is,  but  its  not  like  i  have  much  of  a  choice.  ‘  wanda  said  before  a  look  of  confusion  closed  her  face  at  the  next  comment.  ‘  you  choose  to  come  here?  i  dont  know  i  just  remember  dying  and  then  i  woke  up  here.  and  so  far  i  havent  been  spotted  from  anyone  other   then  steve  and  bucky.  ‘  storm  had  recognized  her  but  wanda  had  sought  her  out,  but  they  were  all  team  mates  at  one  point  she  wanda  didnt  think  those  actually  counted.

“ wanda, hi. ” the girl lets her guard down, a smile spreading across her face as she recognized the girl. her mind wanders to the couple of times that she and the other x-men had fought for and against her. “ what are you doing here? ” it was nice to see a familiar face.

                        once  wanda  could  see  the  recognition  in  storms  eyes  a  smile  crossed  the  brunette  womens  face.  it  both  worried  her  and  made  her  happy  to  be  able  to  see  more  friends  here,  but  she  was  also  scared  about  what  that  meant  for  them.  ‘  i  could  ask  you  the  same,  youre  a  long  way  from  xaviers  mansion.  ‘   wanda  said  with  a  light  shrug  of  her  shoulders.  ‘  as  for  your  question,  i  just  woke  up  here.  ‘  well  she  died  first  but  she  figured  that  was  a  different  story  for  another  time.

the last time he had seen her was at tony’s funeral among the people who probably didn’t belong there, including him. he had always seen himself in wanda, a person who willingly allowed their countries to treat them like guinea pigs for the sake of winning a war. hands deep in his pockets as blue eyes watch her from the outside of the town cafe, gathering up the nerve of what exactly to say. it wasn’t like retirement came with a handbook on how to approach your ex-team members after all that they’ve lost. the bell sounds just as he gains confidence, a hand moving from his pocket to attempt and make a hand motion. “ into small towns too? ” he speaks, a small grin resting onto usual serious features.

                   wanda  hadnt  seen  steve  since  the  battle,  she  didnt  remember  at  what  part  but  she  just  knew  it  had  been  a  while.  she  still  held  a  lot  of  guilt  from  that  day,  she  had  let  the  team  down  and  if  she  had  been  a  little  stronger  or  held  him  off  a  little  longer  the  outcome  would  have  been  very  different.  but  when  she  heard  his  voice.  wanda  couldnt  help  but  turn  and  give  him  a  smile,  ‘  i  guess  you  could  say  that,  ‘  wanda  spoke,  knowing  the  comment  was  more  of  an  ice  breaker.  ‘  when  did  you  get  here?  ‘  wanda  looked  up  to  him,  and  considered  him  a  close  friend  so  she  was  glad  to  see  him  around.

                        ‘   hey  you  can  never  be  too  sure.  ‘  it  was  in  kates  nature  to  be  sarcastic,  she  didnt  know  if  she  spent  to  much  time  with  clint  or  if  it  was  just  in  her  nature.  ‘  why  do  you  need  those  flowers  and  not  the  ones  from  over  there  that  doesnt  have  something  saying  not  to  touch.  ‘

“it’s nice to see you — especially somewhere outside of explosions and general warfare.” he was being facetious but, it was more or less true. he probably should’ve apologized but, the fight, in the end, hadn’t actually been about him. he was just an objective; tony and steve could probably do their own apology tour without him in tow. the only problem was, now they were somewhere casual and he had no idea how to maneuver this sort of conversation. how did people in 2020 communicate anyhow ? “oh. after the incident?“ he gestured for her to walk alongside him, to get out of the crowd and to remain close enough to talk a little more privately. “i died, too. but, i remember a few things happening after that. i’m not really sure how but honestly, wanda, my memory isn’t great, to begin with. so, maybe we can piece things together.”

                       wanda  gave  him  a  smile  at  his  first  comment,  ‘  i  definitely  agree  with  that.  ‘  that  was  something  you  get  used  to  in  their  line  of  work  and  its  honestly  something  she  dealt  with  for  most  of  her  life.  so  to  be  somewhere  where  it  wasnt  happening  all  the  time it  became  a  breath  of  fresh  air.  wanda  followed  along  with  him  as  they  tried  to  get  through  the  crowd,  pleased  to get  out  of  it.  a  frown  slipped  onto  her  face  at  his  comment  about  him  dying  too.  she  felt  guilty  about  a  lot  of  things  from  over  the  years,  but  the  last  fight  was  the  worse  if  she  had  been  stronger  he  wouldnt  have  gotten  the  stone,  but  when  he  talked  about  his  memory,  the  frown  was  replaced  by  a  smile.  ‘  yes, why not.  ‘   wandas  comment  was  followed  by  a  nod  of  her  head  looking  back  at  the  him.
