So today, after months of anxiety and a lot of hard work, rearranging cvs and designing portfolios and sending off emails to receive no reply, I was finally given my first ever design position at an established creative agency. I wanted to scream, and cry, and say all the thank yous and give lots of hugs to these people who have just taken a leap of faith on me. Who told me that I needed to be a sponge, soak up as much as I could, and learn from them. “We know you’re not the best on the software, but your mind is so right. You’re ideas in this trial have been outstanding. And we want you to use us, to become the best you can be, because we know one day you will be teaching us.” I’ve spent a week on placement with these guys and I’ve enjoyed each and every minute. It’s been hard during the past few months cause I’ve felt some kind of imposter syndrome, like the shit I created in university was good, but that was all I was good at: education. Today I learnt that I am good at what I do, in general. And I can’t wait to be better. I’m so grateful, and proud.
