Skyrim Scenery 107/∞
TESV: Skyrim - Scenery
The Altmer is finally underway.
Sorry I went quiet - I decided my Redguard needs to be repainted, it’s not at the standard I want for my YouTube channel, so now I’m scrambling to catch up (I’m almost - almost - caught up).
My Argonian video got a lot of love, so thank you for that!
Hope you’re all well!
the elder scrolls v: skyrim ↳ 1/--
And the Redguard repaint is finished.
Today’s timelapse is his clothing, which was a lot of fun to paint.
Hoping to get the Breton sketched tomorrow and hopefully make a start on painting it over the weekend - I have an essay due though, so I’m not sure if I’ll have the time.
Hope you’re all well!

god i'm so sad that all of the forsworn/reachfolk camps are hostile in skyrim
I always wondered why druadach redoubt but no other camps becomes friendly once you helped madanach. Do they not talk to each other or what
Probably?
I mean the Forsworn kingdom was broken when Ulfric took Markarth in 4E 176 and Madanach has been imprisoned since.
Alduins attack on Helgen happens in 4E 201, so at this point the "Forsworn king" has been imprisoned for 25 years at minimum, a whole generation.
Even if he kept contact and a certain level of control from Cidna Mine why should all the scattered camps still be loyal to him? With the constant fighting it's likely not many ppl with him in the uprising are even still alive.
Why should they care about the random outsider Madanach says has helped him? And how are they to tell you from any rando anyways, especially if we consider the dragonborns alignment with one of the civil war factions, or the blades for that matter.
Honestly from a Forsworn perspective the Dragonborn is probably part of the occupation problem.
By their very nature they're connected to both the Nords and the Empire, both of which are colonizers to the Forsworn.
The Nords conquered the Reach and we know that historically they're not the kindest to any non Nord Races they conquer. And here you are as the Dragonborn, their prophesized saviour, wielding the Thu'um.
The Empire has also conquered the Reach and sought to supress the Old Ways and culture of the Reachmen as they pose a problem to their control and grip on the region. They might be more tolerant to other races, but they're very much a colonizing empire with all the problems attached to that. And as a Dragonborn you're implicitly connected to the Empire, weather you choose to side with them or not.
Same with the blades, firstly they're an Empire organisation, even if now disgraced and hunted. And they plopped their Temple right into the middle of the Reach, towering about the Karth river. Very much in sight of several Forsworn encampments.
I think it could be possible for the Forsworn to rally behind Madanach again in years to come, maybe even with the Dragonborn in support of the cause. But that takes time, so I don't think it's all that weird that any aside from Madanachs core faction would treat you as an outsider. And the Forsworn seem to pretty much have a stab first ask questions second approach to interactions with outsiders anyways. So unless you travel around with an entourage of forsworn warriors to mark you out as an ally it's not too unlikely for you to be shot first.
Also Madanachs Reach Kingdom had only lasted a few years before it was destroyed.
And Madanach does not seem to have anything attached to him that marks him out as a leader of a unified Reach apart from his skill and political networking. He does not seem to come with the legendary or spiritual backing as a chosen one that seems to be assigned to Red Eagle.
So basically he's a failed King, who's been imprisoned in a mine for decades, believed dead by many and doing the Silverbloods bidding. He may still have control over Druadach and with that a sizable faction within the Forsworn.
But I can also very much see why not all the Camps would immediately fall in line behind him after he gets free. He's failed once and has been away for years, he'll have to prove himself first. And having the Dragonborns help might even be seen as yet another outsider excerting influence.
