THIS WAS ON ACTUAL TELEVISION TO BE SEEN BY LIVING, BREATHING INDIVIDUALS
Ever since life began on this planet, there have always been embodiments of the four elements – Fire, Ice, Candy and Slime.
Are you finding all major films really samey and recycled lately? It seems like every movie is a super hero movie and that every super hero movie is bleeding together. Or is it just me that's incredibly bored with recent films?
I share your distress. I think that film has moved so far away from subversive and challenging themes that hardcore movie lovers are finding it harder and harder to find anything worth watching. I feel like the films we make are so restrained and boring, especially compared to just how crazy the world is becoming. I don’t think the movies being made right now are honest about the current zeitgeist. I don’t think they’re exploring the pertinent dilemmas of the day in a meaningful or interesting way. I think that art lies to tell the truth, but movies today just lie to lie. And the lie they tell is one of omission. The omit authenticity, because the studios lag behind the public. Now, they still do big event movies as well as they ever did. But where are the scintillating movies that generate controversy and make people talk?
