I'm having a hard time deciding if I should start cosplaying or not because of these certain circumstances that stands in my way. Every time I see a cosplayer cosplaying the one I want to cosplay and is doing a damn good job cosplaying, my self-esteem drops by half. I always think that if I cosplay that certain character, people would laugh at me and compare me to those pro-cosplayers. T~T

Confession: When I was 14 I cosplayed for the first time at a local convention, some group of assholes asked me why I was dressed up like Kagome because everyone knew that Kagome was Japanese not black. To this day I have never cosplayed anyone lighter than a brown paper bag. Please don't do that to others, it still fucks me up.

I've been looking through the Internet for cosplay ideas, but I'm not like any of the characters that I want to be. I know cosplay should be for fun but with my self-esteem I'm too scared I'll be judged or made fun of.

I like to wear a pink wig and lots of makeup, to look like a doll. None of my friends know I do this and I imagine if they did they'd be scared of me.

sometimes I really hate cosplaying with my friends and I wish I could be brave enough to go alone to cons and stuff because now I never get to cosplay who I want because they always want to go in group cosplays, but that's just no fun. Except at the same time being with a group of friends who love to cosplay but who also take it almost way too seriously (even if they dont think so) is almost fun until I hear them complain or make fun of other cosplayers and when I dont laugh along they shun me

I really hate it when someone tells you that you shouldn't cosplay a certain character because you're a bit on the chubby side or your face isn't right. We don't all look like anime characters ~ Cosplay is meant to be fun, a way of escape or expression. You love the character and you want to show that love by cosplaying them. I hate the community. I really do.

I HATE IT WHEN GIRLS AND GUYS COSPLAY JUST TO LOOK HOT OR CUTE! It's insulting to the people who actually like the series and youre just in it to look cute and show off your body. Most cosplayers that do this are very conceited and think very high of themselves and then low and behold, they don't have the proper body they insult other cosplayers over. Sweetie, you're chubby. Deal with it. Live it up and know how to use your curves correctly instead of squeezing into something made for a 12yr old

I once thought that Cosplay and I had a love/hate relationship. I love it because of everyone I have met, meeting the man that I now can't imagine a day without, and discovering that I have a talent that no one else in my family has. But hate it because it tested me physically and mentally and made me see who real friends are. But I now realize that those things are not what I hate about cosplay. It's what made me a stronger person every day. Hobbies can change us for the better. And I have.

I refuse to cosplay characters that are from 18+ series, or sometimes even characters that are 18+, no matter what they wear or act like, because I'm 15 and I don't want to get involved in harassment or even in an argument about cosplay and (how it doesn't equal) consent. Besides, it can all wait for later. For now, some fun magical girl cosplays.

I can't stand wimpy hugs. If you're going to hug someone, really hug them! These half-assed hugs are just weird and awkward. That means even you random people at cons.

“ I look at each of my cosplays as… a chapter if you will. Each carries with it stories that I could never write or even express in words that would justify just what they mean… Everytime I put one on, in a way its like reliving the most potent memories. Even more amazing is they are mine, no one will ever know what it feels like to put my zora helmet on and instantly be reminded of that warm Baltimore sun. Or how every time I put my cog boots on I swear I can taste Crown Royal as vividly as I did back in that New York hotel. Those examples more than likely mean nothing to anyone but me, but for those brief seconds, im back. And its always the best of times.

I have a really bad habit of adding people into my phone from cons with names that I make up for them. "Hot girl" "Pikachu" "really annoying dont call" "Free beer guy" "fuck you Mark" "water fountain" Like really there is NOOO rhyme or reason. To make matters worse, when i get a text from one of them.. I have NO IDEA who they are. I need an adult.

“Being a cosplayer having someone ask you for a picture is nothing new. I have had some really… different experiences….I have been in more peoples wedding photos IN costume than I have been in wedding photos out of costume. No open bars when your in costume though :(. But I think the strangest photo request was at Otakon two years ago when I was stopped by someone who worked for NASA. Ended up on their twitter. I wonder if they sent it to space… no wonder aliens haven’t visited us, sorry guys.”
