I JUST realised this.

Metal Bat probably only took the job as a hero as a flexible side hustle to make money for him and his sister because all he knew how to do properly was fight (he was most likely a solo delinquent).

But he didn't expect to become a top hero which would explain his aversion to meetings and his prioritisation of his younger sisters accomplishments as he isn't a 'batman signal' hero everyone can count on 24/7 like Genos or the others.

He simply wants to make a liveable wage so that his younger sister can have a good life (I suspect he didn't have an adult figure in his life like this) and he can be there for her.

This revelation makes me love him all the more.
