Hey guys

I don’t know how many of you will see this and I definitely can’t speak for the other mods but I wanted to apologize / explain my inactivity

I’ve struggled with an eating disorder for many years now, about 4 months ago it took a turn for the worse. I’ve been almost completely offline, just sort of surviving day to day.

These next 2 weeks are going to be brutal for me but I intend to make this blog active again after that!! I’m still dedicated to the cause and I hope everyone is doing well <3

I’ve always kind of taken issue with lesbians who are “dick-repulsed” but not asexual

It would make sense to be penis-repulsed if you were asexual, and repulsed by sex and genitals in general

But to say that you just Don’t Like Dicks, and that you won’t date anyone with a penis is kind of gross and transphobic?

To be a lesbian is to love women. If you specifically don’t date people with penises, you’re equating womanhood with having a vagina, and equating dicks to being a man. Which is just not true! There are women with penises, and men with vaginas, and so many other genders that have nothing to do with genitalia.

Cis lesbians, by loudly proclaiming your dick-repulsion, you’re alienating so many trans lesbians and trans wlw. You’re invalidating their womanhood at the same time as you are excluding them from the lesbian identity.

How are trans lesbians supposed to feel like a part of the lesbian/wlw community and worthy of love if their fellow lesbians are openly talking about how disgusted they are by certain types of genitalia?

Preferences are preferences, but you might want to evaluate yours.

Is it transphobic if I'm a gay woman who would date all kinds of queer women (no matter sex at birth) but i just wouldn't touch my partner's genitalia if it happened to be a penis? Like I would date a trans woman but not touch her there pre op.

Again, y’all are spending way too much time dissecting someone else’s genitals. It’s none of your business what’s in their pants, and if it becomes your business, you will have that conversation with your partner. Just take a breath. It’s actually, not that deep.

honestly I think you should ask yourself *why* you wouldn’t touch their genitals. if you found this person sexually attractive, liked spending time with them, enjoyed dating them, loved their personality, clicked really well them, had a lot of passion together…. what you’d just be like sorry nevermind can’t do this?? because of what’s between their legs??

I just don’t buy that. I think ya’ll make these caricatures of trans women in your heads before actually giving anyone a try. or you date one trans person and think we’re all carbon copies of that person.

maybe instead of generalizing us all you could handle your attraction on a case by case basis, just see if you’re attracted to someone or not and see where that leads.

like I get it, some people ain’t into dick, but it is important to question *why*. why do you have such an aversion to it and is it possibly a cissexist world view you’ve grown up in? that’s it, that’s all anyone’s asking.

We’ve witnessed the rather disappointing end to thecottongaslight, so I decided to grab up the url @cotton-ceiling-discourse, to take it’s place. I’m not a lesbian tho, so I don’t feel i have any business running it. Please please please reblog this so the word can spread!
