in the midst (or end) of reading Days at the Morisaki Bookshop
There's something quite beautiful about the way an author plugs in their characters reading a book and describing the storyline of the book. It's as if we're getting immersed into two worlds simultaneously. I really appreciate Satoshi Yagisawa letting Takako act without having any clarity on why she acts or says certain things. This shows the humanness of the character and makes her so much more relatable because more often than not I find books intellectualising and consequently writing thick descriptions of what the character's feeling or going through when they say 'okay' (for example) but more often than not we ourselves don't realise why we do or say something unless we stop and think about it consciously. I really enjoy the cover of the book though especially the neon title matched with neon leaves i can't stop staring at it.
