but this is NOT a reference to Katy Perry. “Mercury in retrograde” is an astronomical term. “Mercury’s retrograde periods can cause our plans to go awry.(x)” Taylor was just saying that, superstitious as she is, she doesn’t hope that bad luck messes with the sales for Welcome to New York.
