Why do all those american Show jumpers jump with polo wraps?

I honestly have no idea...I always like to use boots when I can but my mare has boot rubs so I've been using polos recently; but really other than that I have no idea why...

Anyone wanna help? Show name ideas?

So as you know, I own griffin! However, I don’t have a show name for him and would very much like to have one! He’s 16.3-17h, Irish Sport Horse. He’s insanely lazy, willing, quirky, expressive, and the whole time he’s ridden his ears are pricked forward. He absolutely LOVES his job! Can anyone help me think of a show name for him? It’d be very appreciated! Here’s a few pictures to help!
