Matthew glanced over at his coworker who he barely knew. But he did know she had just as strong opinions as he did. Rolling his eyes at her response, he looked up at the ceiling of the subway car. “I’m ranting because there has been an uptick in measles in New York recently and this is why. It’s frustrating to know there is a way to stop it and face parents every day who refuse based on some google search they made!”

“Is it actually the reason why?” She questioned as she sat up in the seat crossing her legs. “Even if it is --you can have fun telling a mother how to raise their kids.” Courtney smirked a little. “Although it is still possible to get the measles once vaccinated. Sure it’s a small percentage, but if it’s still possible then that’s why some might find it pointless. Doctors have come up with cures for a reason, so that people have a choice how to raise their young.”

Aiden smirked as he watched her cheeks turn a bit red, but that disappeared as quickly as it came when she mentioned of stealing his food. “But why? What have I ever done to you for you to steal my food?” He asked, arching a brow as he did shaking his head slightly. “do you actually believe i’m a dickhead though, i’m sure I can get pass the barrier.”

“Do I need to start a list?” She questioned with a smile as her arms crossed over her chest. “Well first thing...You left without telling me or saying bye. Two..You’re Aiden.” She smiled at him sticking out her tongue playfully for a split second. “Top dickhead. -- Well I guess you’re a somewhat smarter dickhead than most so I’m sure you could.”

“Alright fine. I want you to come and visit more often.” He told the brunette, a smile gracing his features as he did. He then froze and looked at her, hand placed on his chest astonished to hear what he had just heard. “Aye dos mio!” He spoke the words, eyes widen, “I thought you were for real for a minute there. But hey, you could always make a garland and hang it over the entrance to your house to keep dickheads out.”

Courtney smiled as a small bit of blood rushed to her cheeks causing her to blush slightly. “I guess I will then. You can’t blame me though if I break in every now and then and eat all your food though.” She playfully nudged him with a small chuckle following.”I’m not that much of a monster come on!” She said quickly shaking her head. “Well you’d be kept away then.”

“That makes me feel so better.” He laughed. Sven walked along with Courtney and smiled. “So when you back at work? Im back tomorrow for a night show.” He said with a sigh. “Dont get me wrong I love my job but its a bit anti social.”

“I actually have to be there at six in the morning tomorrow.” She said with a sigh. She listened to Sven as he talked about his job and she agreed with everything he was saying. “I feel you. People think that my job is like Grey’s Anatomy or what the hell ever and it’s not. I hardly ever talk to the people I work with. Pretty sure they all hate me because I’m a bitch under pressure or when I’m tired...or all the time.” Courtney laughed as she looked over at him. “What kind of show?”

“Eh, that’s a problem many have. You’ll live.” He shrugged a shoulder. “That’s the plan. You have to make an offering if you want anything out of me.”

“Oh I’m sure I will.” She gave a playful smile. “Well I wanted company, so do you wanna go have lunch or something?”

“It was worth losing to someone like you.” Sven grinned and walked along. “How about we go to a cafe and sit outside to eat?”  He suggested with a lopsided smile. “And then you can gloat to strangers at how you kicked my ass at catch.”

Courtney chuckled as they walked. “Shut up.” She replied rolling her eyes when he said it was worth loosing to someone like her. She was trying to hide the blush and the smile it gave her. “Sounds fun. Can’t wait to show off the muscles I beat you with by swatting away the flies.”

“You’re right, when someone comes with a laundry list of problems, I don’t want to know about ‘em. Bothered? Nah. Just not interested if those three things ain’t involved.”

“I won’t tell you all, but I can tell you my top one right now is -- becoming your friend. That’s starting to become a problem.” She said jokingly with a laugh. “Oh yeah? So since I’m to offering any of that you’re not goin to talk to me?”

“Because you never come to visit me, so i’d like to know to what do I owe the please.” He looked at her and couldn’t help but laughed when she said ‘hi’ back to him. That soon disappeared when he saw her excitement in threatening to cut off people’s gentiles, who took her seat. “Uh….before I answer that, what do you plan on doing with them?”

“If you wanted me to come see you more than you could of just said so asshole. The real reason was that I got off early for work and I didn’t wanna just go home yet.” Courtney said with a shrug hoping that was a stupid enough reason for him to believe. She kind of just missed his company, but she wasn’t going to come out and just say it. Courtney laughed as she thought about his question for a moment. “I mean I have a corner in my place that needs a topic. Kidding. I don’t really know. I don’t think we’d get that far.”

“Well– it’s not something that you did, really. I’m just walking around, taking pictures of stuff that catches my attention. It can be anything– a building, a plant, a person. And in this case right now, well, it’s you.” Benji smiled at her, shrugging a bit. They didn’t know what else to say, so they just stood there for a moment. “Uh– Yeah, that’s why? I just want to update my portfolio.”

"Really? I always thought something had to catch the photographer's eye. I don't know I'm not artsy in any kind of way." Courtney said with a small chuckle following it with a smile as she looked over to the boy. ”Well I guess that I should feel somewhat honored to be in your portfolio, right?"

“Thank you?” He wasn’t certain why the woman would be displaying gratitude after he’d practically destroyed what seemed to be her belongings. The brunet peered up to her expression as he picked up a few broken remnants, carefully plucking each and every piece off the floor so he wouldn’t cut himself. A confused expression stayed still on his face, eyes attentive with worry. Did he have to pay for these? Probably. “Uh––– How much was that worth?”

Courtney thought about what she said and she realized it could of came out weird. As her eyes followed the man as he went down to pick up the pieces. Once he asked how much it was worth, she knew this could be a quick way to make some extra cash, but she decided against it. “It wasn’t worth anything don’t worry about it. -- Just some of my dads old junk that I had no idea how to get rid of without him getting pissed off at me. Now he’ll just be pissed at you.” She chuckled a little bit.

“Honestly, you’d think that parents would be smarter about how they raise their kids. Four cases of measles this week alone. Does no one vaccinate anymore?” He shook his head, looking at the people sitting next to him. “I’m sorry, but I have to ask you - do you have kids? Even if you don’t, don’t you think it’s smart to keep your kids safe? Not to mention other kids. Excuse my rant, it’s just frustrating.”

Courtney was on her way home from the hospital. All she wanted was some piece and quiet and her bed. It was almost a double shift for her so she was exhausted. Just as she sat down on the bus and made herself comfortable some guy sat down next to her. When the man started to talk she rolled her eyes. Letting out a sigh she sat up and faced him as she listened to his rant. “A lot of people believe that they cause problems down the line and who knows they may be right. Every child reacts a different way than some and it might effect them differnetly. Plus you can still get some of the things that you can get vaccinated for, so some parents might not see it worth it.-- Why are you ranting about this anyway?”

“Sweets? Please I just ate and I’d rather not see it again. There is a lot wrong with me, but you don’t need to know those things. You just seemed bothered when I walked up.”

“Did you really? Why’d you stop by, i’m curious to know. But, hi, now.” He chuckled as he waved at her, “i’m sorry about the bar, nothing I can do about it. Unless we stick your name on a seat, and threaten to take someone’s gentiles if they did.”

“Because I felt like it..Why does there have to be a reason? Hi.” Courtney laughed a little as she shrugged before quickly turning her head towards him with excitement all over her face. “Can we?”

“Meh, it’s alright. I just figured maybe butterfaces deserve love too, so I’d throw you a bone– no pun intended.”

“Oh you know that pun was intended. Everyone deserves love -- but you. But come on what’s wrong with you?”

Sven caught it  and smiled. “I think you are flirting and I’m ok with that.” He chuckled and then walked along with her “Bet its nice to get out the hospital huh?” He said nudging her. “Fresh air and not a single drop of blood shit or puke.” He draped a arm around her shoulders. “ You miss Blake are a fucking superhero in real life which means lunch is on me… and I let you win.”

“I’m sure you would be.” She chuckled. With a shrug and a nod she agreed. “I do like actually getting away. It’s nice not being at the hospital or the bar. I’m actually outside. It’s weird.” She sid with a small smile looking over at Sven. “Thanks for getting me out and in that case I will agree to go even more in public with you and let you buy me lunch.” As his arm was draped around her shoulders she nudged him away. “I won fair and square.Sorry you had to loose to a girl.”

Benji raised a brow in confusion, and then they realized what the woman was concern about. “Oh, no– I’m just a photographer. I’m not trying to hit on you or anything. Not that you aren’t a beautiful woman, because you are. I’m just– I don’t normally get hit, and I really hope this isn’t a first for me.”

Courtney somewhat blushed when he called her beautiful. “I’m not going to hit you.” She said with a soft smile before taking another sip of her drink. “Why do you want to take a picture of me anyway? What did I do?”

“Is not. It’s all truth. I’ve been okay, took a little vacation away from Lanford because I had some things to take care of. But now i’m back and there’s lots of new people here, feels weird.”

“I noticed that. Thanks for the goodbye though. I went to go see you one day on my lunch break an you were gone so..yeah. I noticed there is a lot more people here. I don’t know what’s bringing people in to this tiny town, but I just hope it all thins out soon. I’m not use to not having a seat at the bar.”
