i think because a lot of one direction fans never got the closure of the group ending, the WHOLE group (including zayn) there’s always this feeling of wanting any interaction that the boys have had with one another since 2015 to be more, to mean more.

and well..

it just doesn’t

to be so young and so in love with the idea of this group and to have it ripped away from you, it hurts. but we have to recognize the state we are in today. there was never going to be a reunion and there definitely will not be now.

zayn, louis, harry, and niall are completely separate entities and adult men who have spent more time apart than together. and that will continue.

maybe they reconcile and maybe they won’t but that’s up to them. life’s too short to remain cross or indifferent to people you once loved deeply

What’s telling is that zayn, harry, louis, and niall had the opportunity to stand together, be seen as a group etc and they chose not to. they arrived and left from the funeral separately. this was never a “one direction reunion” this was always simply the lives of four 30 year old men who used to be best mates intercrossing again but , this time for their brother’s funeral. They won’t give you the satisfaction of a “group” anything
