Team “not actually oblivious to flirting, just terrified of appearing presumptuous” represent.
“Yes, in the balance of consideration this person’s behaviour could certainly be interpreted as flirtatious, but it would be purest arrogance for me to just assume they actually meant what they said. I should gather more evidence. Forever.”

People say that self inserts are cringy but remember that famous poet Dante Alighieri, who wrote one of the most important works in Italian literature, straight up made a giant three part fan fiction where he and his idol/mancrush, the famous poet Virgil, journey through Hell on behalf of his dead girlfriend and everyone who he didn’t like was there and suffered punishment for all eternity and then he blames three whole popes and the entire fucking city of Florence, Italy for the shitty state of the Church and over seven hundred years later it’s played a major influence in Western culture people are still praising it and analyzing it so honestly who gives a fuck lmfao
Some joyless asshole: you self ship? Cringe!
Dante, a man in his 50s living in the Middle fucking Ages: and then Virgil-senpai lifted me with his strong manly arms and carried me down the mountain from those scawy demons uwu. He was so handsome and talented and wonderful
in seriousness, if you liked good omens, give discworld a shot. terry pratchett was a remarkably observant and funny writer who excelled at character design, world building, and processing his anger at the world’s many injustices into some of the most compassionate stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. It’s one of those things I recommend to anyone who’ll listen.
YES.
If you like crime stories and societal observations- start with Guards! Guards! (The Watch books)
If you like poking fun at fairy tales and fantasy cliches and some feminism- start with Equal Rites (The witch books)
If you have a bit more of a macabre sense of humor and want some more philosophical musings- start with Mort (The Death books)
If you want something that really digs into religion and faith and humanity- read Small Gods. (A standalone story)
But all the books are affordable, none of them are very long, and nearly all of them have audiobooks as well. Definitely try at least one!
good omens is basically ‘four times aziraphale said no when crowley asked him out and the one time he said yes’
This will be my Holy Trinity now.
