It’s a studio.
Perhaps not just a studio - it’s a painters studio, of large windows and a low wooden ceiling, the faint aroma of setting acrylic and dying watercolor, of messiness and chaos so much unlike Sunggyu that Sohee stops to consider that maybe Wheein is the artist all along, though in the end deems it as unlikely as the other had never mentioned it. She moves carefully over the squeaking boards, exploring the realms of this brand new world; the girl looks through the arrangements of paints, all different colors and sizes, then on her tip-toes, through the rows of flower pots suspended by pretty strings from above, until she finds herself shuffling through the finished canvases, set off to the side. “Sunggyu…” she trails, loud enough for him to hear, mouth dropping as her eyes stick from portraits to landscapes, all wonderful, “–Sunggyu, did you paint all of these? Gods, did you? These are amazing! Why didn’t you tell me you could draw?”
The tune he was humming was only something he’s heard on the radio a few times, but catchy enough to become this Sunday’s chore anthem, mumbling a few of the lyrics in a sing song voice under his breath as he waited patiently for his paint mugs, all labeled ‘Paint water’ thanks to a few mishaps of mistaken cups. He could hear the door creak open from down the hall and he knew she was in there among the easels and plants he’s come to make friends with, but it was a mystery what was taking her so long. Surely the mugs couldn’t be that hard to find, though his studio wasn’t the cleanest, he would be the first to admit, so maybe that was the case.
Turning off the sink, he paused, listening for crashing, clinking or any sound in general from down the hall and nothing met his ears. Sunggyu was finicky about who he let into his studio-- Wheein being a given and of course it was inevitable Sohee would venture in some day too, but it was always something that made him worry, especially since he didn’t even know what she was possibly doing right now.
When her voice met his ears he breathed out a little sigh of relief, plucking a towel off the counter and meandering down the hallway. If there was one thing that Sunggyu never understood it was the awe at any of his canvases, it was simply a hobby and there were so many others who were so much better than him. In his opinion, the praise wasn’t warranted. “Yeah... but I don’t think they’re all that great.” Came his simple answer with a shrug of his shoulders as he was leaning on the door frame. He really didn’t think his paintings were something to marvel over-- it was just a hobby for him and nothing more no matter how much he loved it.
“Besides, I never really thought it was important. It’s just something I do...” Shuffling to stand next to her he peered over her shoulder at all the paintings stacked up, forgetting exactly which ones were in this pile. “There actually...” He started, a bit hesitant to admit it because there was the chance she would react badly and it was partly because he didn’t exactly know what pile they were resting in, “There might be a few of you floating around somewhere... I know there’s some of Wheein in here.”
