covseulgi:
Sohee was late, but she figured that sort of thing happened, hadn’t been too long now, as revealed by a quick glance at the screen of her phone. She stepped up to order a coffee, iced, sugar, but no milk, lips wrapping around the straw to suck it down. The slender girl settled herself contentedly  at the little table, tapping out texts until a now-familiar face appeared across from her, prompted her to glance up at the girl. “Hey, Sohee, whats up.” she lilted in greeting, nodding towards the chair to gesture for her to sit. “Lemme buy you a coffee, huh?” she teased, gestured a waitress over. “Its the least I could do, considering you dragged my drunk ass to safety.”Â
Sohee is, by default, a tired, sleepless person - her nights have always had the bad quality to turn easily sour, with nightmares smoothly sneaking in her pretty little head in the form of what she calls visions, and along with them comes the sudden jar of being awake during ungodly hours. It’s been a while, so much is true, so in the end the girl has learned long ago that they shouldn’t bother her, more so on a psychical level; had she been ever bothered by them in such a manner, she would’ve already probably been insane from both their strength and frequency. Still, all the signs of her near insomniac condition tend to show, when she hasn’t put on any good amount of makeup, or maybe if a person looks close enough into the details - there are dark moon circles under her eyes, puffiness to her cheeks, a tremble to the corner of her lips when she tries to smile. It’s nothing she can’t cover up, given enough time and precision, but it’s there, like a stain along her skin, a crack in her behavior.
The day Seulgi invites her out for a cup of hot coffee, it’s been a particularly rough time. Sohee blames it on the full moon, one that she had caught mischievously grinning along the lines of the horizon, and it always makes it harder for her to control her powers adequately; her dreams become vivid, alive, and most of all, they assume a harsh nature that slowly eats away at her mentality. Nevertheless, she pulls herself together enough to agree to the others offer. After all, some fresh air sure wouldn’t do her any harm, especially now, and especially when one takes in account the cafe she’s been invited to is one of her top favorites on campus.
As she pushes against the grand glass doors, the poignantly sharp chime of a bell resonating up above her, the scent of roasted coffee beans hits instantly her like a tidal wave; it’s one of the reasons she loves this place so dearly, it’s so quiet and serene, yet the aesthetic comes short against the cafe’s menu. She spots Seulgi almost instantly - it’s hard to miss a girl like her. “Sorry I’m late!” her tone rings apologetic, if not a little nervous, “Took me a bit more to prepare myself… Rough night.”
She takes a seat, and the air smells a little different now, a bit like cigarettes, though she still gives an unfaltering smile as the waitress comes to take her order. “Nonsense,” the girl objects, waving a hand in a dismissive manner, “You don’t need to buy me anything. Consider it as a favor of mine.” She stops there, for a bit, before her eyes shoot up to the woman beside their table and she’s forced to make a decision on her beverage. In the end, Sohee settles for something strong and simple - a double espresso - with no hesitation prompted by her need to properly wake up. “Really, I couldn’t just leave you there. Plus you probably got tortured enough by the hangover.”
Her arms reach up onto the table, and Sohee rests them up on their elbows so she can lay a chin in the comfortable cup of her palms. “How are you though?” her voice echoes after a moment of silence, “You didn’t pass out in the gardens again, right?”Â
lie to me + "what do you think of me, sohee?"
Send “Lie to me” and a question, and my muse will answer it with a complete lie.
Sohee blinks, once, twice, three times, but alas, the answer still stubbornly hangs along the lines of her teeth, wanting to push through the gap the rows create and yet somehow getting tied up in itself anyway, “Ah, really, Hansol you are so annoying! Everything about you just screams annoying. Especially the book reading. I hate books with such burning passion, I can’t even bear to be close to them.” The girl stops, then backtracks, again setting herself on the right topic of conversation. “You, Hansol, make my days dark. You’re a lost cause. And I hate you. I hate you really so much. “
Send me “journal +” a muse’s name and Ill have my muse write a journal entry about yours.
Can be short or long.
lie to me + "But just how do you feel about him?"
Send “Lie to me” and a question, and my muse will answer it with a complete lie.
Him. Him. How truly incredibly vague of Hyuna to ask, and yet, despite that, somehow they are both aware, to an amazing degree, of just whom she is inquiring about; it makes Sohee’s pulse raise, cheeks redden, ears tint in embarrassment, so when her voice finally slips out of her lips, it cracks, and she’s left laughing, lightly, covering her shame. “Sometimes I love him. It’s not even funny,” she pauses, gently, gathering her thoughts, “I mostly just dislike him. I dislike almost everything about him, from the way he talks, to the way he walks. I don’t like it when he tries to be witty. I don’t like it when he’s being blunt, I’m not a patient person, so it irks me. But most of all, I hate his smile. I hate it so much, really. It’s a smile I’d rather never see again, not even for one second more.”
Send “Lie to me” and a question, and my muse will answer it with a complete lie.

covsoojung:
Taemin will be cross later that his sister has stolen the absinthe and made off with it, claiming its hallucinations and illusions for herself- and for Sohee. She’s texted to invite her up to the rooftop of the observatory, light steps carrying her up flight after flight of winding stairs, the railing wrought ornate in iron beneath her fingers as she ascends, finally, to meet the cool night air, the scattering of stars in the sky. She misses Seoul often, but not at moments like this, when she can see the canopy of stars with no light pollution to cloud them, exposed twinkling and bright above her head. She spreads the blanket out to settle atop it, twisting the top of the bottle open to take an experimental sip, tastes it cloying against her tongue. Footsteps herald her companion’s arrival and she laughs brightly, beckoning her over. “You’re just in time. I snuck a little sip already, I’ll admit, but I was curious.” she admits easily, unabashed, patting the spot beside her as she tilts her head to look up at the other girl. “Have you ever had absinthe before?”Â
Sohee thinks, she’s seen a lot of wonderful things, a lot of pretty shiny things, but there has not been yet one able to surpass the night time view that slowly creeps over the campus during late spring, when the humidity slowly fades and the autumn chill is still yet to take grasp over the rest of the school; that is when the observatory’s side exit is left swinging open, welcoming any curious stranger who’d like to ascend the large metal stairs onto the rooftop and simply observe the wonder up above them. She likes going there, because of many reasons, many illogical reasons and excuses that she gives to herself as a purpose to her midnight walks that somehow always end up at the same place, and her strolls around the building that always lead her in. Eventually, she decides that it will be her solace, her escape, and she learns diligently, of all the stars that smile above her, glued upon the dark azure, and how well they form their groups of secret chatter. There they are, the zodiacs, changing month after month, and then some, Lyra, Draco, Crux, Orion.
Sometimes she sits and thinks, only by herself, corrects the things she has misunderstood and it doesn’t always give her peace but it helps; Sohee likes thinking, although many would claim otherwise, as she deems it the best a person is capable of doing. If you think, then you understand, and if you understand, then you are human. Sohee wants to be human. At times she feels the only thing left for her is brittle bones and flesh that doesn’t suit her - that’s where they hide, her insecurities, inside these cracks she cannot mend even if she wanted to, vailed in the things she doesn’t speak about. She doesn’t speak about her childhood. She doesn’t speak about the large sum of money, carefully treasured in her own bank account dated three years prior, the moment she turned eighteen. And most of all, she doesn’t speak about her nightmares, not the real ones, the visions of the dead that haunt her and she doesn’t speak of the blood. All that Sohee does is smile, and hope, and look up far into the sky, counting all the stars above her.
And there Soojung goes, inviting her to that place. She’d rather I’d be a coincidence but you never know. Sohee likes Soojung, she likes the way she walks and talks, all mystery and blurry eyes that end up getting even hazier throughout the night, given the right circumstances. And the right circumstances usually involve a shameful amount of alcohol, much more than Sohee would care to admit even to herself. Before, she had never been the type to get carried away, to drink even one drop of liquor; now, she has changed, maybe not degraded, rather she grew up. Sohee finds Soojung under the same stars she so admires, atop a spread out blanked, and she smiles instead of waving. “Ah, I’m not late,” she notes, slowly coming forward only to drop next to the other a few seconds later, “That’s good. I have the bad tendency to be late anyway. This would have to be the first time I have not been.” Her voice runs quiet, yet jarring none the less, midst the solid night-time silence and the vibrant echoes of cicadas hidden in the trees. Sohee shoots Soojung a warm look, a curious one, “You should feel special.”
“Now,” greedy fingers reach out to snatch the bottle away from her grasp, giving it a few experimental dangles and carefully observing as the liquid sways back and forth, licking the glass on the sides, “What do we have here? Hopefully you didn’t steal this from the teacher lounge. Word of mouth is that they have quite some exotic things there.” At the mention of the drink's name, her eyebrows raise. “Absinthe? I’ve only heard of it, if I had to be honest. Never held one either…” Slowly, she twists the cap off, leaning forward to catch the strong scent of ethanol burning at her nose, if not to soon retreat back with eyes digging for support in Soojungs. It doesn’t smell too pleasing, perhaps a bit like a herb mixture, but not quite there; honestly, there’s a sudden fear that creeps up her spine, but Sohee gathers her courage none the less. She takes a big sip. Big mistake. “Bitter-- This tastes so bitter.” Yet oh so good.Â

covsunggyu:
It was a room only he allowed select few in, Wheein being the only so far and was so cluttered and eclectically organized that one would never pin it on clean freak Sunggyu to call it his work space. Ferns hung from the ceiling, some so long they nearly brushed the floor and had a few smudges of paint on their leaves as well. Flowers sprouted in pots in the window and canvases of all sizes were stacked and gathered against walls, on tables, sitting half finished under mugs of dark paint filled water, brushes strewn in almost every space available.
“I need some mugs from in there– you’ll be able to find them… there should be about four and they’re all filled with water. Can you please bring them to me?”
There’s a door in the back of Sunggyu and Wheein’s apartament, tall and narrow, white paint beginning to chip at its curved edges from all the years it has been swung back and forth between the hands of its possessors, and behind it, Sohee considers, there must be some kind of a treasure, beyond what her mind could even fantasize about, as it is most likely the only room on campus ground she has yet to step foot in. The first few times, she hadn’t noticed it at all - her friends have always had the habit of sleeping in one bed anyway, so morning visits didn’t end up with watching them split from space to space and as such she had failed to focus on the little mystery. But then, when she first started paying attention, she suddenly saw a lot of things, meaningful small things; the bright light seeping from the gap between the flooring and the door, indicating a large amount of windows, the colors splattered on the handle with blotched fingerprints, everything has a purpose, Sohee knows, and she is beginning to piece everything together.
Alas, that doesn’t stop her rather vibrant imagination from fantasizing about all the wonders one would find behind this special crooked door. Perhaps, it is there that Wheein hides her secret laboratory, with rows upon rows of shelves filled with questionable books, and tables that remain unknown for the immoral deeds that have taken place upon them. Perhaps, it is there that Sunggyu secretly keeps all the mushy things that would otherwise ruin his grumpy image. Really, the possibilities are endless, and even that comes close to only scratching the mare surface of her mind.
And yet, despite all the curiosity that has bubbled up over the time she had to restrain herself from unearthing this grand secret, Sohee still has, after all, self-restraint, and therefore it has never so much as crossed her mind to enter it on her own accord. If they keep it closed then naturally it is a door meant to stay closed, and although she often found herself wondering about it’s contents, she simply decided that her time will come as well. And finally, it has.
That Sunday late morning everything lies still and serene, from the light leisurely bleeding through the windows and the drapes, pulled apart, to the quiet, broken only by the distantly familiar clatter of water against the metal of the sink. Sohee’s body rests on the plush couch in the living room, limbs tangled in pillows and light covers, while her hair knots above her head, eyes shaded by the open book propped upon her forehead. When Sunggyu calls out for her, his voice only jarrs her from her half-asleep state and the idea of ever getting up seems entirely too unappealing. And then he says the magic words: “spare bedroom”.
Without a second to spare in groaning or moaning, Sohee’s already up on her feet, hand waving behind her as if to indicate the job is merely a simple task (even though, in the end, Sunggyu probably can’t even see her). Each step forward buzzes her with more and more excitement, until she contemplates whether she should even close her eyes in order to expand her own surprise. In the end, she chooses against it, though - she’s on a mission for his jars, and she shall not disappoint. With one deep breath for preparation, and smile growing large and strong against her expression, she twists the doorknob.
It’s a studio.
Perhaps not just a studio - it’s a painters studio, of large windows and a low wooden ceiling, the faint aroma of setting acrylic and dying watercolor, of messiness and chaos so much unlike Sunggyu that Sohee stops to consider that maybe Wheein is the artist all along, though in the end deems it as unlikely as the other had never mentioned it. She moves carefully over the squeaking boards, exploring the realms of this brand new world; the girl looks through the arrangements of paints, all different colors and sizes, then on her tip-toes, through the rows of flower pots suspended by pretty strings from above, until she finds herself shuffling through the finished canvases, set off to the side. “Sunggyu…” she trails, loud enough for him to hear, mouth dropping as her eyes stick from portraits to landscapes, all wonderful, “--Sunggyu, did you paint all of these? Gods, did you? These are amazing! Why didn’t you tell me you could draw?”

covmyungsoo:
Myungsoo spins on his heel to drop down onto the bench next to Sohee, props an elbow near his knee as he listens to her talk – back to the sky once again. It does have a magical sort of quality to it, an luminescent blanket across the darkness, and without the light pollution of the city that he’s used to. Myungsoo still hasn’t gotten accustomed to how the sky is lit up bright at night. “So is that why you’re angry then, because of my pretty date?” Myungsoo finally asks her, because he’d not exactly built out of tact and it had seemed pretty obvious when Sohee had let everything spill without a prompt. Myungsoo was of course playing it up when she had been glancing over at them inside, but it wasn’t like he had done anything wrong – they weren’t dating. He wasn’t sure what they were.Â
He didn’t ask her out. He didn’t ask her out. His words should not have offered her any peace of her mind, had Sohee been a rational and sane person, but as they stand they somehow do and make her feel perpetually happy at the outcome of their little talk, like something she previously had thought of as broken is now all shiny and new, right in front of her eyes. She tugs at the material a little more, trying to keep her smile aside but failing miserably with each passing second, until she finally caves in, looking up at the stars with her new found grin painting her expression. “Ah, yes. The sky really is beautiful tonight,” then, shortly, she lifts a finger up to draw a path across the night horizon with it’s tip, “You know Myungsoo, that over there. It’s the constellation Lyra. It’s really pretty, isn’t it. And in the corner over there is Vega - it’s one of the brightest stars in the sky. You know it’s kind of sad. They say that all of these pretty stars are so far away it takes millions of light years to reach us. So by the time we get to see them, they’re all probably dead. When we look up in the night sky, we look up at a picture of the past, but we can never see the stars as they are born.” she laughs, shortly, “It’s kind of poetic.”
“Tuxedos wouldn’t suit you,” Her tone slips out casually from her lips, like what she’s stating has belonged to their conversation all along, “Jeans are nice. And the shirt is too. Though how do I get the precious moment of fixing your tie when you aren’t wearing one?” She cradles his gaze in hers, only for a few moments, submerging in the quiet, ears sharp for the background music of cicadas crying and the gentle roars coming from the near by fountain, as water splashes in spurts up and then back down. “You’re the cool autumn guy, Kim Myungsoo.” there’s a perk to her tone, now excited, “You must have gotten a lot of invitations for tonight's ball. Wouldn’t put it past you. It’s the air, I tell you. See, I did think about your well being. Where would you have been now if it weren’t for that forest air?”
When he sits down beside her and inquires about her reasoning for her little play, Sohee once again begins to feel her ears heat with sudden blood flow, one that this time doesn’t spare her cheeks. She slaps them pointedly, trying to hide her embarrassment at both the question and her own past behavior, “Is it cold? Or is it just me?” When she pauses to think about her next move a lot of things run rampant through her mind -- should she tell him, should she not, should she joke or maybe just continue to ignore the ask all together until both of them move on? She swallows something hard and sticky down her throat, like a tacky candy that got stuck there from before. “I --” She begins, eyes raising, but ultimately losing the courage to face him with her feelings straight on, “I got shocked, Myungsoo. Maybe a little bit… how would you say, ah I guess, well, jealous. But only the lightest most insignificant bit.” Once more, her face shoots up and she counts the stars along her heart beat, “Say, hypothetically, I might have also wanted to go with you today. Purely hypothetically, I might have waited for you to ask me. But you didn’t. I guess it’s not your type, balls. Or maybe I’m just not your type. Hypothetically, of course.”

Sohee trusts Kyungri in a way she doesn’t trust the rest of her friends - she trusts her like she would trust an older sister, or a teacher, and sometimes it could be for the worse, but most of the times it proves as a sense of comfort that there is somebody to rely on in such a way. She values her opinion, greatly, so it didn’t come as a surprise when she went ahead and asked the other to accompany her for dress shopping, Kyungri’s purpose for providing her needed opinion about the clothes Sohee would wear. The annual autumn ball is special, like all events of it’s scale. The girl would have felt out of place if she wasn’t prepared for it in any way. Still the invitation to go out comes only a couple of days before the date of the happening.
Sohee is glad, truthfully, for having the occasion to travel over to the town outside the barriers of the campus, as such a thing happens seldom and it has always had little significance. Now, she’s got a target to pursue, a goal to reach, and good company to boot so naturally it brings out the most charming of her smiles, most enthusiastic of behavior, as she drags Kyungri gently through the busy city streets. The afternoon air sizzles from chatter and crowds upon crowds of people, strolling between lanes full of boutiques, each one gearing up differently for the impending autumn season. Step after step, Sohee gazes at the mannequins behind polished windows, eyes lingering only for a fracture of a second in her need to capture every one of them. “I’m not even sure what I’m looking for,” she finally admits, as they enter a particularly nice store, dresses lined up and neatly hanging on shiny metal railings, “Should I get something longer? I don’t want to seem too overdressed… But I’d also like something, well, fancy, I suppose.”
She shakes her head as she grabs a black dress from midst the rows, long skinny sleeves, tight elastic material that stops somewhere short after her knees and a top that dips revealingly towards the bust. She settles it against her frame and frowns at her reflection. “Ah, I don’t think this works too well. I’ve never worn black that much anyway.” Her eyes shoot up towards Kyungri, searching through her expression for a clue of her opinion. “I’m not sure if this--” hands gesture all over the clothing’s length, before going up and down her own, “--fits this.” Finally, biting her lip, she puts the gown back in place, and dragging her palm across the span of the isle where they are arranged, she digs through the fabrics until she stops at a bright blue cocktial short one. “Maybe this? Blue’s better I think. Ah, but isn’t it too… casual?”

covseolhyun ( covjoohyun ):
She bears an insignificant smile; the kind where the corners of her lips hollow in and her supple of her blushed cheeks became forcibly plump. Her eyes flickered from her reflection toward her friends who seemed more excited about the big shindig than she was. Her gaze returned back onto herself as her eyes then soaked in the view of her cocktail dress; fingers traces along the flowery design all the way down to the hems. She bit down on her lower lip but only cringe in slight disgust. The small smudges of gloss were stuck on her two front pearly whites. It only made her realize that red wasn’t her color. She wipes away any signs of the cosmetic from her lips before going back to step one.Â
Sohee sighs, contently, watching carefully the two girls interact without noting her own apparent bliss at the situation - they are a weird group, the three of them, but one that she thoroughly appreciates for all that it is worth. And it is worth a lot, as they are her best friends, a comfort she could not allow herself before but now somehow has found. She sits atop the counter of the vanity mirror, arms perched up on their elbows and chin nested in the curve her fingers form, and she smiles. Sohee doesn’t have a camera and she’s never been good at photography anyway - but she’d rather save this moment, even if only in her own mind, forever.
"Do I hear something about a Prince Charming?" Her voice calls out to Joohyun, tones pushing upwards with budding excitement "I think we'd use a few tips from you, Joo. After all - you are the most certified princess here." Then, she coughs lightly, legs swinging back and forth in the air, "You are also very pretty. Both of you. Tonight will be magical, I can already feel it!" It isn’t too far from the truth -- the annual ball has always been an occasion not to be missed and Sohee had learned some days ago one of the most important of informations. “A little birdie told me somebody’s going to spike the punch…” the girl adds in casually, restricting herself from making the identity of that one little birdie become public knowledge. Not that they probably didn’t know already. “It’s going to get messy. But good messy.”
She pauses to shoot a scornful look towards Seolhyun, who had just wiped away the color from her lips. "You!" She exclaims, almost accusingly, "Seol! Ah, but red made you look so different. Kind of like a succubus? No? Maybe not the most fitting term, I suppose... Still, today we must work on changing our image into one of sex appeal--” Sohee bites her lips and looks away, just for a second, “Or maybe at least I.” Her expression does not douse though, and soon she’s back on her feet, a hand nonchalantly waving across her face as if to swat away the mood she has created, “We have to dance together at least once. Shame if we didn’t.”

As much as she would later be ashamed, and maybe even regretful, for now, Ahn Sohee is distastefully tipsy, and that is a fact that becomes harder and harder to cover up with each passing minute. Granted, it still proves as an improvement to her previous state of absolute drunkenness a few hours ago, though not by much - perhaps it shows in her better limb control, or the less slur of her tongue, but alas, still doesn’t lessen the blur of her conscious mind. It’s a full wonder how she’s still out and about, strolling through the gardens with a prayer that she’d maybe snap awake from the biting air, the batteries of her exhausted body dropping second after second; yet, normal Sohee is a dreamer, and drunk Sohee makes those dreams come true, so the added boost in her confidence speeds her up infinitely. Or maybe it’s just the bottle of strong alcohol swaying carelessly in her grasp, it’s origins remaining a clouded mystery.
She finds him sitting on a bench, outside, near the castle gates as if he is waiting for something or somebody, but they have failed to arrive; perhaps Sohee takes the initiative of confronting Taehyung because she has been injected with just the proper mix of alcohol and summer breeziness to not care at all, or perhaps she mistakes him in the dimness. Either way, the conclusion is the same - gleefully, she wraps a giddy arm around his shoulders, plopping herself on the seat beside him, and she smiles, wholeheartedly, almost a hint too childish for a twenty-year-old tipsy woman. “Oh Taehyung, it’s you my dear friend,” her words are laced with sarcasm and irony, but fail to resonate with any drop of malice, “What are you doing sitting so depressed? Did your friends finally find out who you truly are?”
She hiccups, straightening her back, pulling out pins from her hair and throwing them aside, loose waves finally being set free. Her hands grasp greedily at the bottle in her hands, that she swings from left to right, and she settles it down in her lap, for a few seconds quietly observing as the liquid flows, until it does not at all. Hiccup, grin. “Tell you what! Are you willing to humor me today, hmmmm?” Her eyes beam at him, almost bursting with layered Sohee excitement and the leftover liquor swaying behind her irises. “Because, today, I want to have fun. Yes. Fun. Seems absurd right? But, hey, Taehyung, how do you even have fun when there is nobody around you?! That’s simply impossible!” She shakes her head, fingers eagerly scratching at the bottle. “Tell you what! Today, you are my bestest of friends! Let’s play something, Taehyung. How about…? Hm, never have I ever. That seems reasonable. I have booze. You’ve got a body. Seems fair to me.”

covmyungsoo:
He excuses himself from the girl to follow the path that Sohee had taken, out the door onto the grounds. She’s perched on a bench, the white fabric of her dress hitting her knees, a tumble of dark hair down her back and she looks small with the trees looming in the distance. The whole scene is nearly ethereal, but there’s still something off about it, probably because she looks upset. He wasn’t entirely sure what he was trying to do, exactly – get under her skin? He still isn’t sure, but there was something like regret settling in his stomach now that it seems like it had gotten to her. He was used to Sohee shoving at him, arguing with him when he pushed at her buttons – not sulking and self isolation. “Didn’t you get the notice? There’s supposed to be a buddy system.” Myungsoo finally speaks out, voice betraying his presence and he watches Sohee startle. He moves closer, hands tucked into the pockets of his jeans as he stands in front of her, “why’re you out here, huh?” he wonders aloud, inhales in and bites briefly at his lower lip, head tipping back to stare at the skies instead of Sohee’s eyes as they settle on him accusatory.Â
When the voice travels through the night and breaks the distant churn of chatter and music blended to perfection, Sohee startles in her seat, jumping up and eyes frantically searching for the one they might belong to. In the dark it’s hard to tell, though after seconds of thinking she comes to the conclusion, that she does, in fact, know exactly to whom this certain voice belongs to. Which however doesn’t stop her from pretending that she doesn’t, yanking the shoes away from her feet and outright hurling them at the faded figure, coming closer second after second. She waits, and watches, and after seeing enough, she calmly says, “Oh! Myungsoo! It was you, I didn’t know…” She might have slipped a bit of sarcasm never the less, just for a good, spicy, measure.
He walks like he talks and acts, with a certain sense of confidence that on some days she might have found appealing, but now instead they shade him differently, more smug, and she fails to recognize his concern anyway. From her perspective, resting quietly on the bench and playing with the vines that intertwine along with it, she can view him fully, absolutely, so she smiles, a small smile that fails to cover up her impending sadness. “Buddies? Oh yeah. I guess I forgot, I didn’t really want to bother anybody back at the party.”
When he inquires about the reason behind her actions, her ears only flush brighter and she scurries to cover them up with messy hair strands, while failing to find the strength in her to look up. She swallows something that’s formed rough against her throat and prays he hasn’t noticed her rather obvious nervousness. “I needed some fresh air,” it’s not a lie, she really did need air, and things were getting suffocating in there anyway, “Plus, the night is too beautiful, don’t you think?”
When she finally lifts her gaze she doesn’t meet with his, instead inspecting how his head lolls backwards or how his adam’s apple bobs, and bare feet kicking against the ground, lightly. “Didn’t you have a date?” Sohee sounds somewhere between broken and hopeful, halfway in and halfway out of the same conversation they’re having together, but somehow lacking spite against her words “Wouldn’t she get mad that you’re not with her? You seemed to have a very good time. She’s also very pretty. Congratulations.” She lets out a breathy laugh, and her own voice stabilizes, as if she had just taken off a massive load off her shoulders. She pokes against his jeans, finger shifting through the fabric, “How daring, coming to a formal ball with a set of jeans. Did you ask her out last minute, or something?”
She lets go, eventually, in favor of savoring the sky up above her, full of small, big, miniscule, sparkling stars, all distant suns or planets, harbors of life or death. “The sky’s so clear today. It’s a shame we’re all stuffed inside the castle. It would’ve been great to have the chance to watch the night together, all of us.”

There has never been, never in her entire twenty-one years of living in this world, a person who has played Sohee as effortlessly as Kim Myungsoo. Granted, the hook might have not been intentional, but despite their oddities they had found a certain mid way point where their friendship had begun, an year ago, when they first met; yet, to this day, the girl doesn’t know precisely how to describe it all. Maybe they could be partners in crime but Myungsoo has never been the adventurous, in the sense that she is. Maybe they could be the love-hate characters, but their love comes from their hate, their teasing, so it leaves them nowhere once again. One thing the girl know with the utmost of certainty - Sohee does not get jealous.
But perhaps she does feel envious. It was her clear minded choice not to ask him to the ball, as she had possibly expected that he’d be the one to take the initiative, just once, but he has made it clear himself - he’s enjoying his time, with his date, tall, pretty, fitting, much better suited for somebody like Myungsoo than Sohee will ever be. She doesn’t really mean to snoop but her eyes pry past the gaps in the crowd without her conscious permission, and if she could stop herself she would’ve, but she can’t, she’s only ever curious, harmless and curious, so she watches as he cloaks her with his hand, as his fingers rub against her shoulder, as they swoop down the line of her body and settle on her lower waist. By the time he’s leaning in to whisper sweetness in her ear, Sohee’s already decided that she needs a breath of fresh air, or her heart is going to burst, so she swiftly excuses herself and moves past the main entrance.
Outside, the budding autumn air bites at her cheeks, drawing blood from underneath her skin and causing her to shiver at the sudden sensation of the cool wrapping boldly around her exposed limbs. Logically, she should go back, as per the warnings of the teachers - don’t go out alone, don’t go out at all - but despite the fact Sohee really has nowhere to go, she heads for a lighter patch of the gardens, where the lamps still reach, to find and bench and hopefully reflect. It’s the only place she really knows, trusts.
She sits, and she waits, for her heart beat to settle and ears to pale back from the red, but a minute passes and nothing changes, so she reserves to shaking her head, body twisting in her spot, though her hands soon fall back on her lap, ultimately defeated. Her usual smile now seems like a distant memory, replaced by a scowl that runs through her features, albeit softening when she looks up at the sky above her, eyes focused on it’s clear, almost nude, nature. The night today is beautiful.
