I want to make something clear. While I am a proud part of Damien’s Twitch community, I have no intention of watching Smosh Games on Twitch until Matt is removed from the company.

I continue to watch each of the channels and their content in order to boost them in the algorithm and to ensure I receive notifications for their content when the best content comes out. With Twitch, it doesn’t work like that. Because Matt is doing this purely for a cash grab, I find it ingenuine.

I’m very aware that business is all about making money, that’s a given. My point is, this whole Twitch collaboration is a desperate attempt at making money. Smosh Games has steadily gone downhill and basically only gets views when they make a video like their old content. The positive of that is that the best content is receives the most attention. The problem is that Matt is a money hungry, selfish man who is able to notice this. He sees the retroactive views that collect from Board AF and the SG Live-streams. Combining the two is an obvious choice, and is an even better opportunity for Smosh to spread into other modern media. SG will fit comfortably on Twitch and will easily collect viewers who watch shows like Critical Role.

My point with all of this is that I have no reason to support this as of right now. I don’t like Matt Raub, I avoid watching all content he is featured in, and the structure of Twitch is just a way for Smosh Games to rake the cash into whomever’s pocket.

I find this to be an especially weird choice considering how Matt discusses how much of a pain SG Lives were at Defy on the Smoshcast. While this was in the Defy era where it was non-stop hell at Smosh, the difficulty he expressed clearly had to do with the structure of the Lives. He mentioned how they had to stop everything they were doing and had several technical difficulties. While someone can absolutely change their mind and opinion on something, my bias against Matt just makes me continue to believe this is a desperate cash-grab.

Some of my favorite Smoshcast moments (stan the fucking Smoshcast it’s the best Smosh content in my opinion):

-Ian’s confused panic while Sarah and Courtney start crying about the stress of being a woman at Smosh

-Keith saying “C’mon” non-stop for an entire hour straight

-Damien trying to mutter “yeah, you do have a pretty wicked dumper” to Ian and accidentally yelling it into the mic

-Noah talking about condoms out of nowhere with Ian while Damien is flustered is confused on how they got to this topic

-Olivia explaining her wild childhood while Shayne processes the ridiculous action movie that was her childhood

-Olivia having the best time ever while Jack Douglas talks about his wife

-Courtney saying that “eating out” was one of her favorite things and then giggling and making things really uncomfortable for the next 5 minutes

-Damien and Shayne trying to understand what Ian is going to do with a 6 foot tall cursed tapestry

-Damien being absolute chaos while Shayne and Sarah tell paranormal stories

-Monica flexing her horrible high school GPA and then explaining psychological knowledge that even I’ve never heard of

-The entire cast yelling at Matt Raub for 20 minutes

-Jacky being a comedy ICON

-Courtney correcting herself and apologizing for accidentally making bisexuality sound exclusionary and explaining that she is still learning and is working hard to understand the LGBT+ community (normalize this behavior please holy shit)

-Damien feeling overjoyed while talking about living like a hermit

-The time everyone had the exact same Smosh video at the same spot on their favorites list

-Matthew Scott talking about how tight a particular costume was on So Random! with the quote “You could see what our RELIGION was!”

-Ian learning that Country music is popular in other countries

-Courtney opening up about her terrifying health scare and how it affected her emotional well-being (so proud of her)

-Ian cry laughing at shitty video ideas

-Ian and Shayne bonding over a mutual love for Fleetwood Mac
