This blog, my Sims, and Tumblr’s bullshit.

So, it’s been a while. Busy, distracted, etc. But I think I’m going to start playing Sims again. 

However, as many knows, and despite my disappearance around here, I’m aware that NSFW is a no-go here now. In fact, a couple of my posts were flagged. Some were obviously a “why the fuck was this flagged in the first place” and others...well, are legitimately flagged. They are few and far between NSFW posts, but I am an adult, and if I want to post boobs once in a while, I should be able to. But since SOME PEOPLE have to take it too far, I have to find a plan B.

I have two options: censor myself and either edit the pictures to not show the nudity, or move the NSFW content elsewhere. I’m leaning towards the latter. 

It really depends on a lot of other things, but this is where I am now. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to open a Sims game for the first time in like a year.

Backup Tumblr Blogs - 2017

There are a lot of methods here. I’ve used the wordpress method but with that you get EVERYTHING with not much control. The one that gives me the most control (and imo the best) is tumblr-utils by bbolli on github. It can be daunting for those who aren’t familiar with command line, however. They do have a Windows guide (tumblr_backup_for_beginners) which walks you through step by step on setting it up and getting it started.

Below is my version of the guide with some helpful tips not mentioned, under read more for length.

YES, PLEASE. My mom was one of those mothers who tried to decide "hey, you're going to be in the pre-med classes in high school". I was miserable for the first 2 years. In my junior year, I changed to theater classes and took writing electives, and found out that I didn't need anymore math or science classes during junior year and I had the best fucking time ever. I went to college for theater and media. I have a little girl of my own now, and she is showing interest in art and technology. If that's what she wants to pursue, I'm in the front row rooting her on. So for black moms of creatives, be in that front row for your child. The last thing they need is no support from you when the outside world doesn't support them either.

Holy hell, where have I been?!

Not that anyone cares, lol. Or even remembers me, hai yall!

But yeah, it’s been a bit. My last post wasn’t even Sims-related.  What has been going on? Work.  I finally found my (hopefully) forever job.  I don’t deal with anyone who isn’t a co-worker, I get to sit for 95% of my shift (so not in as much pain as I was in before--chronic pain sucks), and the company treats their workers well.  Oh and while not 100%, my mental health has gotten better.  

I recently celebrated my 28th (plus 5) birthday.  Spent some time with the family.  A little bit after my last Sims stint, we adopted another fur baby.  A  Chocolate Labrador this time.  He and the chihuahua get along well...for the most part.  Little dog can be very alpha female-ish at times, and big dog is kinda her bitch sometimes.  

I am gonna be honest--I haven’t opened up a Sims game in 7 months.  Part of it is due to working, so my time is spread.  The other part is disinterest.  I love the Sims and it will always have a spot in my heart, but there are other games I play as well, namely Final Fantasy 14 (I FINALLY GOT A HOUSE THERE!) that takes up a lot of my time.  So chances are if I do poof away here, you probably will find me over here.

With that said, I kinda want to play Sims 2 again.  That game is ancient yall, but man, I still have love for it.  However, I’m also going to be doing a purge of CC.  I have hair from 2005-ish.  TWO THOUSAND AND FIVE.  Mind you, Sims 2 came out in 2004.  2005 Nama is different from 2018 Nama, and a lot of what I thought was cute back then? Not so much now.  So purge it is.  Maybe I’ll find something else to replace it? Who knows?

Haha! I adopted a Chihuahua last November.  I always thought they were too yippy but we locked eyes and I knew she was the one.  She is the sweetest thing, even if she likes to ninja human food!

Yoni Zodiac/Perfect Genetics Challenge Gen 1: Nina Yoni (Aries) and Ny 

To kick off the challenge, this is my lovely founder, Nina and her chihuahua, Ny.  Nina comes from a long line of witches and she’s in town to settle down and find love and make babies.  

However, as I’ve said, she comes from a long line of witches and nothing else will do; she needs to pass her torch to a witch.

In addition to being a witch, the heir must also:

Have Nina’s hair color (purple with red highlights)

Have Nina’s eye color (purple)

Be a Taurus.

You know how witches love cats? Not Nina.  Ny was adopted by Nina at a young age and is the reason why Nina loves dogs.  With that said, Nina would like to see Ny’s legacy live on as well.

I’m sorry, I gotta rant.

I see some really nice CC, but I won’t download it.

Why? Because it is guarded heavier than fucking Donald Trump.  An ad blocker sign, THEN ad.fly, then something else.  It’s like a perpetual box opening session and ain’t nobody got time for that.  I repeat...

As someone who occasionally (read: very rarely these days because 40 hours+ out of the house doesn’t allow me to even sleep sometimes) creates things for Sims, We all know how shitty it is to get 76492692632 popups from ad.fly, and for what? Like .00001 cent? Is it worth it when your downloads don’t get as much love? I get it, the struggle is real; I have a whole 10 bucks until Thursday, and even then I have to pay another bill, so I won’t have any extra cash for a bit (and the new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV comes out in a few weeks, grr).  But I wouldn’t resort to gating my CC downloads and risk infecting others’ computers (and my own!).  There are other safe options (provided you are of age).  

I’m not saying you have to listen to me, because hey, I’m just an old lady who will never understand the appeal of ad.fly and the like.  But just food for thought.
