whoever is running the sparknotes twitter account needs a raise
OMG I want to go back in time and send all of these to english-majoring student me. After I explain twitter. And John Mulaney. And later seasons of Parks & Rec.
Nova Artino, Kaz Brekker, and Jude Duarte need to start a club called “dark haired emo 17 year olds who had their childhoods ripped away from them, forcing them to become murders in order to gain power and control in a world that hates them” and that’s really specific and I don’t know how I feel about it. Please add others you think should join the club.
You gotta read the entire thing 😩😂😂
when you’re in a public place but then you remember shepard bleeding to death saying ‘what do you need me to do’ at the end of me3
I’m currently replaying the trilogy and just remembered how much this is gonna hurt.
taryn: apparently fucking commits murder on her own damn husband
me, a slut for poetic justice:
Every end is a new beginning.
I'm a little late getting this review done, but I want to give huge thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for approving me for this eGalley in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own.
HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO SKY WITHOUT STARS!!
Immediate thoughts: WOW. THIS IS SO MUCH LESS DEPRESSING THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. WHEN DO I GET THE NEXT ONE?
Now on to the actual review: When I heard Les Mis + Space Opera, I honestly wasn't SUPER excited. Les Miserables didn't exactly give me any feelings other than depression as a teen. I've been through a huge slump lately and when I decided to pick this up I was sure that it wouldn't help at all. I WAS VERY WRONG.
So much happened in such a short span of time and I cannot begin to wrap my head around the fact that this entire book and ALL of these events really happened in less than a week. I know realistically it's more than possible, but I felt like I was reading the story of events that happened over the course of some months.
The focus on how having empathy or the lack thereof affects the world around you was so well written. They only actually mention empathy here and there, but the second they did I immediately started taking note of each characters empathy levels. Chatine, Allouette, the General and Marcellus all show the different sides of how a little bit of empathy, a lot of empathy and having no empathy at all can alter your world view.
This really was such a well-written book. I had my rough patches getting through it, because I wanted Marcellus to be his own person and Allouette was kind of boring at the beginning, but they each came into their own and the character development was so on point. I like when I can grow into my admiration for a character.
I could honestly see this book play out as a movie in my head. The second I get the chance I will be pre-ordering the next book and you can expect me to stalk all news of this series. I'm invested.
I have some groundbreaking advice for my fellow writers out there: whoever tf made you think that you need to write all your scenes in chronological order is a fucking liar. When you get a good idea for a scene..write it. You can worry about putting them in the right order after.
man the crazy thing about babies is that like, some people would think that reading a baby a book about farm animals is teaching them about farm animals, but really it’s teaching them about the concept of a book and how there’s new information on each page of a single object, but really, beyond that, it’s teaching them how language works, and beyond that it’s really actually teaching them about human interaction, and really really it’s them learning about existing in a three-dimensional space and how they can navigate that space, but actually, above all it is teaching them that mama loves them.
Happy Book Birthday to ONCE & FUTURE
Some legends never die — They are reborn. This time, Excalibur chooses her.
Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy have come together to give us and amazing, queer, gender-bent, SCI-FI retelling of King Arthur. You’ve got space, an awesome crew of rebels, a cranky wizard and a magic sword.
I know I didn’t really say anything here but I am FINALLY done with moving and should back to a more regular posting schedule! Yay!
Matthias: Why should I help you?
