“I’m afraid you might be looking for my sister, Betsy. I prefer to go by Captain Avalon nowadays.”
“Don’t worry, I know. World travels fast on the Island.”
avanhard:
“I have tried seventeen different variety of your American pickles and none have proven to be a palatable. Richest country in the world can’t even pickle a simple cucumber.”
“Back home, pickled food was a part of the culture.” Xi’an took a bite from her bowl. “You’re right: they don’t do it the same here.”
babyphoeniix:
Amazing Baby cooed down at Rachel’s feet as she sat there outside of the Halal food truck she’d just ordered food from, and she grumbled to herself as she grabbed a piece of chicken and threw it to down to the Warwolf. “Save some for me, bud.” Her eyes drifted over to someone nearby who was staring. “What’s up?”
They had been out running training exercises with the younger mutants; the New Mutants were settled into their routine of helping the self described ‘Lost Club’ while also going out on assignments. Xi’an had been staring at the table while trying to decide if she was hungry or not. “Huh?” She looked to Rachel. The telepath shook her head. “You ever get so tired your brain stops working?”
spectormcrc:
Donning his flat cap, Jake rolled his window down when he noticed the presence of someone standing on the curb outside of his cab. “You lookin’ for a ride? Or are you just going to keep standing there mirándome?
“I don’t think I’m looking for anything.” Xi’an shifted from one foot to the other, her prosthetic shifting to accommodate her weight. “And I’ve never ridden a taxi before.”
spectormcrc:
Marc walked through the exit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and onto 5th Avenue, glaring daggers at Steven through the reflection of the doors as he stepped onto the sidewalk. “If you’re gonna shove me to the front when you’re at work, you gotta give me a warning next time, bud.” Turns out, shitty bosses weren’t exclusive to the museums in London. His new manager wasn’t nearly as demeaning as Donna, but Steven still found himself overwhelmed enough to take the backseat right in the middle of his last tour. Marc had to stumble his way through it with his bad imitation of Steven’s accent, but they were finally off. Sorry, mate. Couldn’t really help it. You know the last thing I’d want is for those poor museum guests to have to hear you give them a tour of the Art of Renaissance England.
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Where do you want me to pick up dinner? And I swear if you say that vegan hotdog place again I’m gonna walk us into traffic.” Marc stopped abruptly when he bumped into a passerby on the street, and prayed that they hadn’t just heard him having a conversation with himself. “Sorry, you okay?”
There were two people in front of Xi’an that she would have run into after the man bumped into her. Her eyes briefly blared pink as she entered their minds and they both jerked to the side and out of the way. Xi’an managed to catch her balance. “You were talking to yourself.” A statement, not a question. “Before you hit me.”
magnetiik:
“It is quite the time for mutants, I agree. We are living in an unprecedented age. And outsiders’ opinions are of.. little matter to me.”
“You realize you sound arrogant, right? Everyone’s going to be looking to you. It’s not the time to make us more enemies.”
honeykinney:
“No, he’ll come back at some point.” Gabby sighed softly, straightening up a bit as she looked up at Xi’an. “What’s up?”
Xi’an scanned the now cleared area, shaking her head. “It’s nothing bad, don’t worry. How have you been feeling with your synergy attacks? We want to up the ante a little bit, maybe have you guys work with us specifically. I’m first on your rotation.”
wspectormcrc:
“I watched a man dig an old ICEE cup out of that garbage can over there earlier and drink it,” Steven pointed to the nearby trashcan and grimaced, a soft chuckle escaping him. “The bloody thing had to have been so warm. Hot even.”
“Oh, gross. You know, I’ve never actually had an ICEE,” she admitted. There definitely hadn’t been any where she had grown up, and with the New Mutants she had always gone for ice cream instead.
barneswinters:
Bucky wasn’t so sure how much good there was in being able to possess people. As someone who had lost his bodily autonomy for what felt like his entire life, it was a sore subject. “And what good is that?”
“Clearing civilians during fights.” She pointed out. “Getting information from those trying to hurt us. Stopping people from causing harm.” It wasn’t like she had ever been drunk on her power or anything of the sort. “I do the best that I can.” And honestly? She didn’t need to explain herself to him any further.
druiiig:
“ - seems a pretty advanced prosthetic y’ got there.”
“I’m lucky to have it.” Xi’an looked down, moving the artificial limb slightly. “I’m also used to it by now.”
destroyrofworlds:
“And what about the petals?” Daisy was still catching up on her homework as far as learning about mutants, but she understood the importance of the Krakoan petals. And the several different pills that they eventually got pressed into for the benefit of humans.
“I think that’s the classified part.” Xi’an clasped her hands together. “They’re always a hot topic. I’m just here as a messenger to get the information for Hope and the Council.”
rahnes:
“…It’s no that simple.”
“I can’t promise I’ll understand, but I’d love to listen or talk with you about it. If you want, of course.”
barneswinters:
“It shouldn’t be done period.”
“I didn’t pick my powers. I never would have chosen this. Now I just need to try and make good with what I have.”
spectormcrc:
“Not at all. I’m actually just waiting for someone to meet me here. I’m not expecting her for awhile, though. I was just kind of enjoying the people watching.”
“There’s certainly a lot of people.” Xi’an could feel their energy humming around her. “What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen so far?”
synchthomas:
“Me?” Synch questioned, raising his eyebrows with curiosity. “Not that I’m mad about it. I just don’t hear it often. What’s up?”
“Yeah, you.” She smiled. “Back when Tran was in my mind -- back before the Crucible -- did you ever sense him?”
hardycat:
“You’re more noble than I would be with a power like that.”
“You say that until you start getting into people’s heads. I get how it could be addictive, but -- I don’t know. It’s not worthing your soul over.”
