in love with your art. your art style is entrancing. i love how it draws me in. how do you choose/edit colors & backgrounds & shading? what program(s) do you use?
First off - thanks so much!! ;;
I’ll try my best to answer your question even tho my process is pretty random/inconsistent sometimes lol. When I’m ready to color I sometimes make the bg color a darker color instead of white - this just helps me decide what I want for highlights bc a lot of colors look darker to my eyes in comparison to all the white on the screen. I love using mostly muted colors and contrasting those with more bright/saturated colors on things I want to make pop more like the eyes or hair. (I’ll try to do most colors on separate layers so I can use the hue/saturation sliders to adjust individually as I go).
Since I can get carried away with colors, to tie them in together a bit more I’ll add some color overlays - I use a solid super bright color like red or magenta and just have fun with the blending modes and opacity until it’s to my liking. I do all this in Procreate btw, but when I’m done I’ll import into Photoshop to play with colors even more lol (the selective color tool is awesome). Secret tip: it’s fun to use the “color lookup” option in PS and try out the different filters there - sometimes they make the colors even more interesting (I’m all about experimenting with all the tools available lol).
/rant over, hope this is somewhat useful!
