Telling her parents she wants to pursue baking and not law or medicine. She’s terrified to admit this and isn’t sure what to do. I’d love to really explore that journey of switching over her plans.
Maria has never dated, often seeing it as something that would distract her from her goals. She recently came out as bisexual in the last year and is curious about dating. She’s not sure how to go about it, but wants to try.
It’d be super awesome to have Maria featured in a local art show. She’s only ever showcased at school and do something professional would be huge for her. She doesn’t want to be an artist but it’d be cool to get her work out there regardless.
Maria was the second child to Michael and Julia Chang. Her parents were loving, but strict, and her brother was often the one who encouraged her to follow her dreams. Ever since she was little she loved art. Like most kids she could be found coloring at any hour of the day, but as she grew up crayons simply changed to pencil crayons, then oil paints, than acrylics, than charcoal, and anything else she could keep her hands on.
As a kid she found making friends hard. Maria can be rather opinionated and career/school-driven which meant most didn’t click with her. She often kept close to Mike’s side when she could, since she got along well with him. She’d often accompany him to the dance studio and draw while he practiced. However, since they were never in the same schools after elementary she kept mostly to herself at school.
Her father didn’t overly support her passion, but as long as she kept her grades up and promised on law school or med school her mother was allowed to indulge her. In her teenage years she realized she was bisexual. She stressed for two years before finally coming out at 19. Her parents couldn’t have been more supportive. Saying that who she married wouldn’t matter to them.
She got into a few Ivy League colleges, but chose to stay in Lemon Grove until she went on to grad school. She’s currently double majoring in Medicine and Law, though she wants to do neither. She spend any free time she has out painting landscapes, and works at Delia’s Deli as a baker. She loves her life, and has little to complain about.
