Eduard Folayang vs Shinya Aoki

Both Eduard Folayang (18-6) and Shinya Aoki (39-8) will be in action this Friday (May 18) at ONE Championship: Unstoppable Dreams.

It was bound to happen eventually, but is was Eduard Folayang who was the man to KO Aoki to take the ONE Championship title away from the legendary Japanese submission artist. He’s since lost the title to Martin Nguyen but his win will give him a special place in Filipino MMA. He’s set to fight up and coming Russian prospect Kharun Atlangeriev (11-0).

Aoki has still yet to bounce back from his lost to Folayang, instead serving as Ben Askren’s “retirement” opponent where he was squashed quickly inside of a round. After back to back (T)KO losses and 15 years of pro fighting, one has to wonder how much Aoki really has left in the tank. He’s set to face off with Rasul Yakhyaev (11-6).
