I've been seeing a lot of people saying we should make something to collect all these wonderful and insightful analyses, and I agree!
I would love to see a zine or something like that be made in the future by someone more talented than me, but in the meantime I've created a google doc folder just to keep everything together:

phil being the one to be sacrificed is something so personal somehow. i keep thinking about the old tumblr tag, when they saw some edit where phil had died. both of them jokingly insisting that dan should die sometimes too. the common trope in phanfics, dan being the one left behind. them flipping the script of “yeah phil will die, but he will always come back”
i saw someone else say this but it’s such a confirmation, deliberate or not, that they are bound by some outwardly source of power. phil always comes back.
i keep swinging between thinking that this was entirely unintentional and they essentially just flipped a coin about who will be the sacrifice. or that they have been planning this for months in intricate detail, carefully sculpting the homoerotic nature of it.

We did not acknowledge enough how funny it was that on the same day Courtney and Shane were excitedly celebrating their wedding Dan and Phil were reinventing queer horror and sacrificing the alternate versions of themselves to Baphomet
Okay so I was rewatching DAPC-S again, and at the end of the video where dan and phil are stood in front of Baphomet, Dan flinches when Baphomet first comes behind him, still wary, scared of him. This was because Dan was more devoted to phil. He followed Phil, as he loves Phil so much that he would do anything for him. But, he was still scared; hesitant. in this post by @golfylester (where this idea of mine was formed), it talks about how Dan was hesitant to hand his hand over to phil to cut him, and when dan was about to kill phil. But, once Baphomet grabs dan, he leans back into the touch and shivers, almost like he finally had accepted Baphomet fully, and becomes fully devoted to not just Phil, but him as well.
Another thing I noticed in relation to the post I talked about earlier, was how Phil held the knife that was used to kill himself because he was so devoted to Baphomet. While in Dans hand was Phil’s heart because again, he was devoted to Phil, not as much so Baphomet. I think this just further proves that Phil has always been the one leading, and was the one who got Dan into this, while dan is just a devotee.
this is like if in the blair witch had a couple of minions that were also filming a documentary. Like, found footage horror but from the perspective of the horrors. It's like if the vvitch took place in the modern times. It's like how in sinister they filmed all the killings and the film is what gave it power. Art is important, it is the art that takes imagination and gives it power. Art raises the demons. Creation is an act of devotion. Don't cry, craft.
