Theres this writer/reader in my fav fandom. She commented on my work, all nice at 1st but then she became really, really nitpicky and when I tried to defend my view she said I’m being aggressive. Ha like that would calm a person down but I said sorry and dropped the debate. A few days later, while checking out the review page I saw her again. But her review was downright nasty. Like “i dont now why this is so popular. There’s so many grammar mistakes + yr plot is dumb” Nasty.i don’t like her.

I wrote a short, slice of life/character study for a main character in a big/kind of crazy fandom. I get this comment back saying how my interpretation of the character was wildly incorrect and how he would never do the things that I wrote. Cut to a few years later, there's an episode of the character doing almost the exact thing I wrote. How's that for accurate characterization.

is taking down a wip that so far hasnt got much feedback too petty of me? i still want to finish it but i dont want to give it to people who wont even tell me anything and im tired of forcing myself to be all cheerful asking for comments in the notes and then looking like an idiot when all i get is silence even tho the hits keep going up. i know im not going to enjoy writing it if i keep posting and tbh also fuck them

I recently had the main couple of my fic bring in a third person into their relationship, and the outcry was incredible, despite it making sense for the plot. One reviewer wrote me an essay-length review on how /he/ felt the relationship should go (even managing to contradict himself twice in the space of two paragraphs), and finishing with a heavy-handed implied threat of flames if I didn't do as he said. So I responded to him, pointing out his logical errors, and then blocked him.

I got a really long comment on my fic that was really nice and asking a lot of questions. Doesn’t seem crap, but they apparently loved my fic so much that they stole my first chapter, made it a genderswap, and changed nothing else other than making the wording less effective. I try to respond to all comments but I’m glad I put off this one because I have no thanks to give to someone who steals my work.

ok so i started a longfic and it got two comments on the prologue and then... nothing. a couple of kudos in the next update and complete silence afterwards. i thought 'well it has a lot of blood and suffering maybe it's not people's jam' and stopped updating it but yesterday i asked my tumblr followers which fic of mine they'd like to be continued and two of them said THAT one... idk then maybe act like you actually like it and say something about it you lazyasses

I once had a conversation with a fellow ficker about the lack of feedback in our fandom and she seemed nice, flashforward to a couple of weeks later when I found out she was shit-talking me in a group chat and twisting my words to mean I thought I was entitled to comments and was manipulative and toxic. I swear I didn't do anything to her and to this day I don't get why she was such a bitch to me

posted a 97k fic for a big bang and immediately got a comment asking who topped and then got a comment later on that was worded oddly (i don’t think english was their first language but i could be wrong) but the idea of a certain character either not being a virgin or no being a bottom triggered them? and they got suuuuper defensive when i laughed 🙄 also @ ppl who comment only to ask who tops: authors hate you bye

I have a reader who keeps commenting on my fic, which I haven't been able to update in a year. I'm sure she knows that I'm busy, coz I say that I'm a college student almost always in the end notes when I update, to let people know that I only have so much time to write. But she alternates betw. "Doing a re-read! Hope ur well!" and "I'm getting worried. Ur not abandoning this, are u?" Like, dude, pick a side: do you really care about my well-being or just my story? Coz it's getting old real fast.

I recently updated my wip with an AN to let my readers know that I wouldn't be posting on schedule for a while coz of life-related responsibilities and stress, and that I'd do my best to return to my story as soon as I could. Then someone who'd never commented before but who'd been following my story for a while said: "*sigh* I thought this was a new chapter and got excited. Anyway, thanks for taking time out of your busy life to let us know." Wow. Thanks for the passive-aggressive sympathy.

Got a comment recently mocking me for informing everybody that any comment that tried to start debates would be deleted. The work they commented on was EXPLICITLY STATED to be extremely personal, hence the deletion of drama comments. They then entered a second comment directly defying my request that everybody avoid debates in the comments section. Fuck you, too, buddy - all thirteen years of you, and your little edgelord pseudonym, too.

Got a comment once that wasn’t honestly all too bad, but ok remember them telling me they couldn’t see A calling his brothers ‘bro’ (or something like that) and vice versa. I remember replying to it— I can’t even remember what I said tho lol this happened like a few years ago but I still think about it every now and then. I was actually thinking about it yesterday. Guess it goes to show how long even slight critiques like that stick around

I got a comment after posting a chapter that had nothing to do with the chapter. Only a paragraph off hand reference to character E and D being together. A paragraph prompted this person to passive agressively tell me to update tags. Not thank me for writing all these chapters of a 90k fic or even kudos. Oh no a parapgraph with minor mentions of E and D finally made them type out something. Good grief.

I once got a comment on a fic where they assumed that I was 13 or 14 based on my writing and told me that the subject was too mature for me then told me to continue my inspiration since I feel strongly about what I was writing then suggested that I use a beta since I'm "really young". The kicker is that I was almost 16 and had been writing for nearly three years when I got that comment.

this annoying ass fandom mom comments on marvel fics telling authors they hate it when the xmen and avengers crossover ?? I have bad news for them about the marvel universe and the locations of the xmen school and avengers tower/mansion yikes but seriously why
